Design of CVT Composed of a K-H-V type Differential Gear Unit and a V-Belt Drive (K-H-V형 차동기어장치와 V-벨트식 기구를 결합한 무단변속기의 설계)

  • Continuously variable transmission(CVT) mechanisms considered here combine the functions of a K-H-V type differential gear unit and a V-belt type continuously variable unit(CVU). As combining the functions of a K-H-V type differential gear unit and a V-belt type CVU, 24 different mechanisms are presented. Some useful theoretical formula related to speed ratio, power flow and efficiency are derived and analyzed. These mechanisms have many advantages which are the decrease of CVT size, the increase of overall efficiency, the extension of speed ratio range, and the generation of geared neutral.

  • 본 논문은 로봇관절 구동 및 제어에 활용될 중공모터의 설계 및 특성해석에 대해 연구하였다. 로봇관절에 사용될 중공모터의 경우고 토크출력이 요구될 뿐만 아니라, 저속에서 제어 및 구동 신뢰성이 높은 운전특성이 요구된다. 또한 로봇 관절에 활용하기 위하여 배선처리가 간편한 중공타입의 구조가 요구된다. 따라서 우리는 로봇 구동 및 경량화가 가능하도록 유성기어와 결합이 가능한 외전형 타입의 영구자석 동기전동기의 설계 및 특성해석을 하였다. 먼저 로봇 관절에 적합하도록 FEA 기법을 이용하여 설계하였으며, 실제 시작기 모델을 제작하여 성능실험을 통해 제안된 모터의 특성을 분석하였다.

  • Many successive liquid-liquid extractions occur enabling purification of the crude material to occur. In high performance counter-current chromatography (HPCCC), crude material is partitioned between two immiscible layers of solvent phases. The stationary phase (SP) is retained by hydrodynamic force field effect and the mobile phase (MP) is pumped through the column. Purification occurs because of the different solubility of the components in the liquid mobile and stationary phases. There are many key benefits of liquid stationary phases such as high mass and volume injection loadings, total sample recovery, and easy scale-up. Many researchers showed that predictable scale-up from simple test is feasible with knowledge of the stationary phase retention for the planned process scale run. In this review we review the recent advances in HPCCC research and also describe the key applications such as natural products and synthetics (small or large molecules).

  • As environmental pollution, global warming, and exhaustion of fossil fuel become global issue recently, there has been strong research motivation to develop green energy technology. Along the same line of motivation, some research efforts have been put into the development of environment-friendly bicycle equipped with various smart energy technologies to increase the usability of the bicycle as short-distance transportation. Among the technologies related with new generation bicycle, PAS (power assist system) is one of the most important systems that are essential in efficiently integrating human power and the electrical power supplied by electric motor driven by battery. In this paper, a novel torque sensor technology which is core component for PAS is proposed. Unlike existing technologies, strain gauges are attached to rear shaft directly under the hub bearings, which eliminates the requirement of slip-ring, Furthermore, the sensor is able to not only measure the torque transmitted to driving axle by human but also estimate the position of the gear to which the chain is currently engaged.

  • This paper describes the PSIM simulator for the analysis of the series type HEV operation. The traction force of the series type HEV of which engine is electrically coupled with a traction motor is supplied from the traction motor only. The rating of each power train components, such as gear, motor, ESS, ICE/generator, is designed with the Energy-Based Modeling method and the Electrical Peaking Hybrid(ELPH) method. Under driving cycle, the designed series HEV is evaluated with the developed PSIM simulator. A comparison between the conventional braking and the regenerative braking is performed with the average motor input power. And the fuel economy analysis is carried out on the basis of the simulation results.

  • For drones to be used for industrial or agricultural applications, it is necessary to increase the payload and endurance. Currently, the payload and endurance are limited by the battery technology for electric powered drones. In addition, charging or replacing the batteries may not be a practical solution at the field that requires near continuous operation. In this paper, a procedure to optimize the power system of an electric hybrid drone that consists of an internal combustion engine, a generator, a battery, and electric motors is presented. The example drone for crop dusting is sized for easy transportation with a maximum takeoff weight of 200 kg. The two main rotors that are mechanically connected to the internal combustion engine provides most of the lift. The drone is controled by four electric motors that are driven by the generator. By analyzing the flow of the energy, a methodology to select the optimum propeller and motor among the commercially available models is described. Then, a procedure of finding the optimum operational condition along with the proper gear reduction ratios for the internal combustion engine based on the test data is presented.

  • The increasing complexity of business and social settings bas lead to innovation becoming a strategic imperative. The need for innovation in the quest for competitive advantage also means that firms must be dynamic and flexible. This is often achieved through collaborative arrangements such as strategic alliances or strategic network Many organizations form alliances by leveraging their resources to gain access to the partner's skills and capabilities; ultimately to enhance innovation and performance. We demonstrate empirically that the "chain of innovation" is central to the process of innovation in global alliances. This chain comprises the creativity and learning processes and knowledge stock in alliances. Our empirical analysis is based on a survey of alliances that resulted in 114 responses. For management, this research bas significant potential in guiding attention to the chain of innovation, to better manage the overall process of innovation in alliances. Our work shows that more effective creativity and learning processes and a greater knowledge stock lead to a more effective alliance innovation process. Managers therefore, need to concentrate on creating environments wherein the processes of creativity and learning are fostered, increasing the alliance knowledge stock and in turn, increasing innovative output via an effective innovation process.

Three-dimensional Imaging with an Endoscopic Optical Coherence Tomography System for Detection of Airway Stenosis (기도협착 측정을 위한 내시경 광 결맞음 단층촬영법을 이용한 3차원 이미징)

  • The respiratory tract is an essential part of the respiratory system involved in the process of respiration. However, if stenosis occurs, it interferes with breathing and can even lead to death. Asthma is a typical example of a reversible cause of airway narrowing, and the number of patients suffering from acute exacerbation is steadily increasing. Therefore, it is important to detect airway narrowing early and prevent the patient's condition from worsening. Optical coherence tomography (OCT), which has high resolution, is suitable for observing the microstructure of tissues. In this study we developed an endoscopic OCT system. We combined a 1300-nm OCT system with a servo motor, which can rotate at a high speed. A catheter was pulled back using a linear stage while imaging with 360° rotation by the motor. The motor was selected considering various requirements, such as torque, rotational speed, and gear ratio of pulleys. An ex vivo rabbit tracheal model was used as a sample, and the sample and catheter were immobilized by acrylic structures. The OCT images provided information about the structures of the mucosa and submucosa. The difference between normal and stenosed parts in the trachea was confirmed by OCT. Furthermore, through a three-dimensional (3-D) reconstruction process, it was possible to identify and diagnose the stenosis in the 3-D image of the airway, as well as the cross-sectional image. This study would be useful not only for diagnosing airway stenosis, but also for realizing 3-D imaging.
