High School of Arts students' Understanding of the Nature of Science and Nature of Art (과학과 예술의 본성에 대한 예술고 학생들의 인식)

  • This study is a survey conducted to explore what art high school students specifically see as nature of science. Third-year students of a high school of arts in Gyeonggi-do participated in the survey. The questionnaire was classified into three categories - the formative arts in the fine arts, the sound arts in music, the performing arts in dance, and drama and play. The study analyzed what they think of as similar aspects of science and art respectively according to their majors, with focus on the extracts. As a result, they mentioned 'creative imagination', 'correlation with technology', 'social and cultural relation', 'subjectivity', 'variability', and 'inquiring attitude' as similarities between science and art. The results are almost the same as the elements of the nature of science as agreed on by scientists. From the result, we can assume that students majoring in art, indeed, need an education on the nature of science. Also, while the fine arts students have more tendency to perceive inquiring attitude than others, music students are more likely to perceive variability than others. Therefore, teaching strategy in experimental inquiring context for the former is more helpful in understanding the nature of science, and teaching strategy in the context of scientific history for the latter.

An Analysis on Prospective Teachers' HCK : Focused on Understandings of Inverse Function Symbol (예비교사들의 HCK 분석 : 역함수 기호에 대한 이해를 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed the characteristics of prospective teachers' Horizon Content Knowledge(HCK) related to understandings of an inverse function symbol. This study aimed to deduce implications of developing HCK in terms of the means which would enhance mathematics teachers' professional development. In order to achieve the aim, this study identified features of HCK by examining the previous literature on HCK, which has conformed Ball & Bass(2009) and exploring the research in AMT, including Zazkis & Leikin(2010) which has emphasized cultivating AMT through university mathematics education. In addition, a questionnaire was developed regarding the features of HCK and taken by 57 prospective teachers. By analyzing the data obtained from the written responses the participants presented, this study delineated the specific characteristics of the teachers' HCK with regard to an inverse function symbol. Additionally, several issues in the teacher education for improving HCK were discussed, and the results of this research could inspire designing and implementing a teacher education program relevant to HCK.

  • All over the world, the interest in technology and industrial value has been increasing rapidly due to the continuing commercial successes of three dimensional films. However, after the commercial success of , without exception, lots of three dimensional films had been produced thoughtlessly. Hereby, these films incurred a censure owing to bad degree of completion related to insufficient storytelling and directing. For three dimensional films, characteristic of producing should be considered perfectly in the planning stage unlike previous films. This study concentrates upon proper directing for three dimensional films, and analyzes the method of it, roughly divided into three parts ; the lapse of time, directing the screen which can highlight space sense, and the point of sight. Henceforth, The demand of three dimensional contents will increase all around the world, at such time, we also should take note of the change, and then produce excellent contents which can lead to have a chance to gain the supper hand in the market of three dimensional contents.

  • Wireless Internet, created through the merging of mobile communication with Internet technology, provides the advantage of mobility, but the restrictions of the mobile environment are deterring it from growing into a mass public service. Of the restricting factors of the wireless environment, narrow memory space creates the disadvantage of not being able to manage resources in mobile devices efficiently Because there is a limit to obtaining sufficient memory space from hardware made with consideration of portability, future devices will need to have a platform design with storage area extended from internal storage to external storage space. In this paper, we present a mobile agent that extends the memory space from only the inside of a mobile device to an external server making it possible to use data by on-line Run-time, and can also manage internal files efficiently. We have designed and implemented a RMS(Resources Management System) as a realization. Devices using the proposed RMS will be able to apply extended processes with the 'Mobile Space Extension' and will be benefited with optimal memory space through efficient internal file management.

  • Location-Based Service (LBS) is a service provided to the user based on the user's current geographic location. Since LBS provides a higher value-added service, LBS has been applied on various businesses, industries and even on personal lives. Positioning users is the essential technology in building an LBS system. Thanks to GPS (Global Positioning System), Positioning outdoor is successfully used in practice. However, there is not a general solution for indoor positioning yet, even though many strategies for indoor positioning have been introduced. One of the reasons for the lack of successful indoor positioning is that most of the existing indoor positioning strategies require special equipments dedicated for positioning. This paper introduces an indoor positioning strategy that does not require any additional equipments. Integrating our indoor positioning strategy with GPS-based outdoor positioning, we have implemented an indoor-outdoor positioning system. Experimental results of the system is also introduced.

Acceptance Test and Quality Control of Radiotherapy Treatment Simulator (의료용 모의치료기의 품질관리에 관한 연구)

  • The simulator which has a identical geometry with radiotherapy equipments, is a essential equipment to accomplish optimized radiotherapy plan through simulation by using diagnostic low energy X-ray. A Radiotherapy simulator has a combined technology from the therapeutic and diagnostic radiology and needs a periodical test for mechanical and optical properties, X-ray generator, image intensifier of simulator to keep the proper maintenance and radiation safety. Hence, tests were done and classified as i) mechanical and optical parameter for the gantry, collimator, and couch ii) key performance of the X-ray generator such as a kVp, mAs, and timer iii) performance of the image intensifier such as a resolution and contrast for three kinds of simulator, common use in clinic. The above result of tests will be applied to the acceptance test and periodical quality assurance procedure.

  • 21세기에 들어 홍수의 규모가 대형화 되었고, 그 발생빈도 및 강도도 증가하고 있다. 최근에는 지구온난화가 지속화되면서 전 세계적으로 높은 강도의 기상이변들이 속출하고 있고, 이러한 이상기후에 따른 태풍, 집중호우 등의 대규모 호우로 인해 댐 및 제방 등의 수공구조물 붕괴와 같은 비상상황이 초래 될 수 있다. 이와 같은 피해들을 통해 홍수 침수 범위의 예측, 분석을 통한 홍수위험 및 다양한 홍수위험지도 작성의 필요성이 대두되었고, 실제로 국가 차원의 홍수위 험지도가 제작되고 있다. 특히, 홍수 위험도 분석에 있어서 홍수에 노출된 지역의 인구수, 홍수에 노출된 지역에서의 경제적 활동의 형태, 홍수가 발생했을 때 2차적 피해를 불러올 수 있는 설비 등을 나타내는 홍수 취약도(Flood Vulnerability)에 대한 정량적 평가는 홍수위험지표 및 홍수위험강도 등에 의한 Flood Risk 개념을 기반으로 한 홍수위험지도 제작을 위해 매우 중요한 사항이라 할 수 있다. 그러나 현재까지의 홍수취약도 산정방법은 방법론적인 면에 있어 다소 단순하고, 직관에 의한 위험도의 분류가 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. 또한 취약도 지표의 산정과정이 전문가의 의견에 의존하는 경우가 많아 홍수 취약도 선정과정과 가중치 결정과정에 전문가들의 주관이 개입되는 등 홍수위험지표의 정량화에 어려움을 겪는 경우가 많다. 본 연구에서는 위와 같은 문제를 극복하기 위해 Flood Risk Mapping 기술의 적용에 있어 중요한 요소인 홍수취약도를 다기준의사결정법에 의해 산정하고, 국내 낙동강 유역에 대해 행정구역별로 세분화된 홍수위험지도 제작을 위한 취약도 지표를 산정하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 다기준의사결정법중의 하나 인 PROMEETEE와 ELECTRE를 이용하여 민감도, 노출도, 저감성 지표를 낙동강 유역에 대해 정량화하여 도시하였다. 본 연구결과를 통해 홍수위험지표 및 지수들의 결합에 대한새로운 방법론을 제시하고, 그에 따른 지도화 기법을 확립할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

An Implementation of the Game Mechanics Simulator (게임메카닉스 시뮬레이터 구현)

  • The scale of game development are rapidly increasing as the blockbuster games which cost $7\~20$ billion won, often appear on the markets. The game mechanics which is concentrated on technological elements of the game, necessarily requires the management of quality. In this paper, we propose a computer simulator for the quality evaluation of game mechanics which can analyze the quality accurately and economically in the design phase. The proposed simulator provides Petri net[7,8] and Smalltalk[9] for convenient modeling. The simulator gives the realistic evaluation like play test because it uses the realistic data of gameplay environment such as player action-pattern, game world map, and item DB but the previous evaluation methods can not consider the realistic gameplay environment and can only cover a limited scope of evaluation. To prove good performance of the proposed simulator, we have 80 simulations for the quality evaluation of the game mechanics of Dungeon & Dragon[13,14] in a given world map. The simulation results show that the proposed simulator can evaluate the faultlessness, optimization, and play balance of the game mechanics and gives better good performance than other evaluation methods.

An Effective Data Analysis System for Improving Throughput of Shotgun Proteomic Data based on Machine Learning (대량의 프로테옴 데이타를 효과적으로 해석하기 위한 기계학습 기반 시스템)

  • In proteomics, recent advancements In mass spectrometry technology and in protein extraction and separation technology made high-throughput analysis possible. This leads to thousands to hundreds of thousands of MS/MS spectra per single LC-MS/MS experiment. Such a large amount of data creates significant computational challenges and therefore effective data analysis methods that make efficient use of computational resources and, at the same time, provide more peptide identifications are in great need. Here, SIFTER system is designed to avoid inefficient processing of shotgun proteomic data. SIFTER provides software tools that can improve throughput of mass spectrometry-based peptide identification by filtering out poor-quality tandem mass spectra and estimating a Peptide charge state prior to applying analysis algorithms. SIFTER tools characterize and assess spectral features and thus significantly reduce the computation time and false positive rates by localizing spectra that lead to wrong identification prior to full-blown analysis. SIFTER enables fast and in-depth interpretation of tandem mass spectra.

FolksoViz: A Subsumption-based Folksonomy Visualization Using the Wikipedia (FolksoViz: Wikipedia 본문을 이용한 상하위 관계 기반 폭소노미 시각화 기법)

  • Folksonomy, which is created through the collaborative tagging from many users, is one of the driving factors of Web 2.0. Tags are said to be the web metadata describing a web document. If we are able to find the semantic subsumption relationships between tags created through the collaborative tagging, it can help users understand the metadata more intuitively. In this paper, targeting del.icio.us tag data, we propose a method named FolksoViz for deriving subsumption relationships between tags by using Wikipedia texts. For this purpose, we propose a statistical model for deriving subsumption relationships based on the frequency of each tag on the Wikipedia texts, and TSD(Tag Sense Disambiguation) method for mapping each tag to a corresponding Wikipedia text. The derived subsumption pairs are visualized effectively on the screen. The experiment shows that our proposed algorithm managed to find the correct subsumption pairs with high accuracy.
