The Effects of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Yeast Extract SCP-20 on Stress Response, Anxiety and Depression : A Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trial (Saccharomyces Cerevisiae 효모 추출물 SCP-20의 스트레스 반응, 불안 및 우울에 대한 효과 : 이중 맹검 위약 통제 연구)

  • Objective : SCP-20, a yeast hydrolysate from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, has exhibited anti-stress, anti-anxiety, and antidepressant effects in animal studies. The objective of this study was to test the effects of SCP-20 on healthy controls and to assess its effects on stress response, depression and, anxiety. Methods : Sixty-one healthy volunteers (30 male, 31 female) were recruited and screened for significant psychiatric and medical conditions. Baseline measures of stress, anxiety, and depression were taken using questionnaires such as the Stress Response Inventory (SRI), Beck's Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI), and the physiological measure of heart rate variability (HRV). Each subject was assigned randomly to a group taking capsules containing either 70% SCP-20 (i.e. the SCP70 group), 99.5% SCP-20 (i.e. the SCP99.5 group), or a placebo. Follow up measures were taken at week 4. Results : Subjects taking SCP-20 showed significant improvement in SRI and BAI scores compared to those taking placebo. For BDI scores, there was no significant difference between groups. No significant adverse effects were reported. Conclusions : This study suggests that SCP-20 is effective in alleviating stress and anxiety symptoms in healthy individuals, and has little or no side effects. However, the role of of SCP-20 in alleviating depression needs further clarification. Studiess examining its effects in psychiatric populations are needed to establish its role in alternative medicine.

  • 멸종위기종의 서식지를 효율적으로 관리하기 위해서는 해당 종의 서식 가능한 지역의 분포를 알아야 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 GIS와 퍼지집합을 이용하여 산양(Nemorhaedus caudatus)의 서식지적합성모형을 개발하여 멸종 위기종의 서식지를 관리하기 위한 정보를 제공하는 것이다. 산양의 서식지적합성모형 개발을 위한 본 연구의 주요내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 산양 서식지 이용에 관한 기존 연구를 바탕으로 산양의 잠재적 서식지 환경변수를 분류하였으며, 분석 대상지의 산양 흔적 조사를 통해 서식지 환경변수의 재분류 및 x²검정(Chi-square test)을 통한 변수들의 유용성을 파악하고, 쌍체비교를 통한 환경변수별 가중치를 계산하였다. 둘째, 기존 부울논리(boolean logic)의 단점을 보완하기 위해 현장 조사의 결과를 바탕으로 퍼지논리(fuzzy logic)에 의한 산양 서식지의 각 환경변수별 주제도를 작성하고, 주제도들의 상관관계를 분석하여 상호 관련성이 높은 변수들의 중복을 피하였다. 셋째, 환경변수별 주제도와 변수별 가중치를 바탕으로 다기준평가기법(MCE, Multi-Criteria Evaluation)을 이용하여 분석대상지의 산양 서식지적합성모형을 개발하였다. 마지막으로, 개발된 서식지적합성모형의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 분석대상지 외부 지역을 대상으로 검증을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 분석대상지의 분류정확도는 서식가능성 0.5를 기준으로 93.94%의 매우 높은 분류정확도를 나타내었으며, 검증대상지에서는 95.74%의 분류정확도를 나타내어 본 모형의 분류정확도는 일관성이 높은 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 전체 공원구역에서 서식가능성 0.5이상의 면적은 59%를 차지하였다.퇴적이 우세한 것으로 관측되었다.보체계의 구축사업의 시각이 행정정보화, 생활정보화, 산업정보화 등 다양한 분야와 결합하여 보다 큰 시너지 효과와 사용자 중심의 서비스 개선을 창출할 수 있는 기반을 제공할 것을 기대해 본다.. 이상의 결과를 종합해볼 때, ${\beta}$-glucan은 고용량일 때 직접적으로 또는 $IFN-{\gamma}$ 존재시에는 저용량에서도 복강 큰 포식세로를 활성화시킬 뿐 아니라, 탐식효율도 높임으로써 면역기능을 증진 시키는 것으로 나타났고, 그 효과는 crude ${\beta}$-glucan의 추출조건에 따라 달라지는 것을 알 수 있었다.eveloped.   • With business environments around the world facing uncertainty and complexity, companies have focused on supply chain management as one of the essential elements in securing a competitive advantage. Successful supply chain management requires internal efforts to strengthen the core competencies of the company and the integration of individual functions in the supply chain. This study aims to investigate the effect of information sharing between companies on supply chain integration and corporate performance. The research hypothesis established in previous studies was analyzed using structural equation modeling. A total of 723 questionnaire responses were used to test the hypotheses of this study. We found that the integration and sharing of information between companies have a great influence on supply chain integration, which has positive effects on corporate performance at the operational and strategic levels, including finance, market share, and customer satisfaction. The integration of supply chains via information integration and sharing between companies can promote the flow of information, services, goods, and money. Therefore, if information is disconnected between actors in the supply chain, it will lead to negative effects on the management of the entire supply chain. On the other hand, if supply chain actors can share information efficiently in real time on one platform, they can expect to optimize the entire supply chain. Information sharing and integration at the strategic and operational levels play a vital role in supply chain integration, which contributes to achieving a company's performance targets and enhancing its competitiveness.

Evaluation of Offshore Water Quality by Bioassay Using the Gametes and Embryos of Sea Urchins (성게 알을 이용한 생물검정에 의한 연안해수 수질평가에 관한 연구)

  • The water quality of offshore waters around the Korean coast was evaluated by bioassay using gametes, embryoss and early development systems of a sea urchin species Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus. The results show that despite the inflows of several river systems, the west coast maintain the grade II water. This is thought to be due to the decrease in pollutant input resulting from the purification of inflow rivers (e.g., the control of waste water discharge and the construction of sewage treatment facilities), and the dilution of pollutants by a strong tidal mixing with a large difference between the ebb and flood tides. However, Asan, Hampyong and Chonsu bays, where circulations of water are relatively poor, and the Kunsan and Mokpo harbors which are influenced by pollutants from neighboring cities have shown the grade III water. The south coast has maintain the grade II or III because developments of sea urchins were moderately or strongly inhibited. Also, Kangjin, Duekryang, Kwangyang, Masan, and Jinhae bays where water circulations are relatively poor, show the grade III water, with strong inhibitions of the early development of sea urchins. The east coast has maintained the grade I and II due to monotonous coastlines and smooth circulation of sea water. However, Chongcho Lake shows the worst water quality due to the breakwater which is constructed to maintain port functions.

Assessment of Analytical Performance of Open-path Monitoring System: Tests of DOAS System in Relationship with Meteorological Conditions (광투과 관측시스템의 분석기능 평가: 기상인자에 따른 DOAS 시스템의 검정)

  • To evaluate the influence of meteorological conditions on the performance of DOAS (Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy) system, we analyzed the concentrations of three criteria pollutants and relevant environmental parameters measured during 14 month periods between Jun. 1999 and Oct. 2000. According to our study, the performance of DOAS can be sensitively influenced via various manners (such as among different chemicals and/or between different time periods). It turns out that O$_3$ exhibits most frequently the weakest agreement between two systems. When comparison was made among different meteorological parameters, the strongest variability was seen from such ones as windspeed, wind direction, and irradiance. In addition, the absolute differences in measured concentrations between two systems were compared against various environmental parameters by means of linear regression analysis. Results of this analysis indicated that the differences between the two tend to decrease with the increase of such parameters as windspeed. It is thus concluded on the basis of our study that the simultaneous evaluation of meteorological data should be an essential step toward the accurate assessment of pollutant concentration data obtained by DOAS measurement system.

Mechanical strength of Zirconia Abutment in Implant Restoration (지르코니아 임플란트 지대주의 기계적 강도에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: As the esthetic demands of dental implant patients are increased, the demands of zirconia as implant abutment material are also increased. It has non-metalic color, good biocompatibility, high strength and high toughness. Even thought the advatage of zirconia abutment, there are a few studies about mechanical properties of zirconia abutment. This study evaluated the mecanical strength with compressive bending strength and endurance limit of implant-zirconia abutment assembly. Materials and Methods: Static and cyclic loading of implant-Zirconia abutment assembly were simulated under worst case condition according to ISO. Test groups were implants of external butt joint with straight regular diameter and angled regular diameter zirconia abutment, implant of external butt joint with narrow straight diameter zirconia abutment and implant of internal conical joint with straight narrow diameter zirconia abutment. All test group were evaluated the mecanical strength with compressive bending strength and endurance limit. After fatique testing, fracture surface were examined by SEM. Results: The compressive bending strengths exceed 927N. Regular diameter zirconia abutment were stronger than narrow diameter zirconia abutment(P<.05). The endurance limits ranged from 503N to 868N. Conclusion: Within the limitation of this study, zirconia implant abutment exceeded the estabilished values for maximum incisal biting forces reported in the literature.

A study of various factors related to satisfaction of complete denture wearers (총의치 장착자의 의치 만족도와 관련된 요인에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate correlations between denture satisfaction and various factors related to patients' and wearing dentures. Materials and Methods: Total 43 edentulous patients were recalled and they were wearing complete dentures fabricated more than one year ago. For patients' subjective assessment, the questionnaire based on the various literatures was developed and applied to patients for data acquisition. In addition, correlations were evaluated between subjective assessment and denture satisfaction score. For statistical analysis, Spearman correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis, Mann-whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to found out what the most considerable factors to denture satisfaction score (P < 0.05). Results: Denture satisfaction score of maxilla was higher than mandible (P < 0.05). In functional aspects, maxillary denture were received a favorable evaluation. Especially fit and pain causing were highly correlated to satisfaction. Gender, age, using period, visiting times after manufacturing denture were unrelated to satisfaction. But previous experience was related to denture satisfaction. Conclusion: Denture satisfaction was determined by a combination of various factors related to patients.

A Study on Estimating Route Travel Time Using Collected Data of Bus Information System (버스정보시스템(BIS) 수집자료를 이용한 경로통행시간 추정)

  • Recently the demands for traffic information tend to increase, and travel time might one of the most important traffic information. To effectively estimate exact travel time, highly reliable traffic data collection is required. BIS(Bus Information System) data would be useful for the estimation of the route travel time because BIS is collecting data for the bus travel time on the main road of the city on real-time basis. Traditionally use of BIS data has been limited to the realm of bus operating but it has not been used for a variety of traffic categories. Therefore, this study estimates a route travel time on road networks in urban areas on the basis of real-time data of BIS and then eventually constructs regression models. These models use an explanatory variable that corresponds to bus travel time excluding service time at the bus stop. The results show that the coefficient of determination for the constructed regression model is more than 0.950. As a result of T-test performance with assistance from collected data and estimated model values, it is likely that the model is statistically significant with a confidence level of 95%. It is generally found that the estimation for the exact travel time on real-time basis is plausible if the BIS data is used.

Factors Affecting Family Cohesion and Adaptability of College Students and Parents (대학생 자녀와 부모의 가족결속력과 가족적응력에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in family cohesion and family adaptability between college students and their parents to identify the factors that affect family cohesion and family adaptability using a descriptive research study design. The subjects of this study were 197 college students and their parents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, ANOVA, correlation and multiple regression analysis by SPSS for Windows (ver. 22.0). The mean of the family function index of the subjects was $7.42{\pm}2.28$ on the scale of 1 to 10, and that of the normal family functional group was 65.48%. There was no significant difference in family cohesion between the college students and their parents, and family adaptability was significantly different in discipline(t=-3.100, p<.01) and role(t=.212, p<.05). The factors affecting the family adaptability of the students were the sharing of family activities, emotional intimacy and attending family events, which showed a combined explanatory power of 45.9%. The factors affecting the family cohesion of the parents were housework assignment, emotional intimacy and attending family events, which showed a combined explanatory power of 51.4%. Family emotional intimacy and attending family events, as well as the sharing of family activities, were found to be important to the family adaptability of the college students and housework assignment was found to be important to the family cohesion of the parents.

Analysis of Upstream Regulatory Region from Populus nigra × P. maximowiczii by Inverse PCR Technique (Inverse PCR 기법(技法)을 이용(利用)한 양황철 DNA의 Regulatory Region의 탐색(探索))

  • This research was conducted to identify plant regulatory regions by gene tagging method. A promoterless GUS coding sequence was introduced to Populus nigra ${\times}$ P. maximowiczii via Agrobacterium strains(LBA4404/EHA101), and putative transgenic poplars were selected by culturing on medium containing G418($60mg/{\ell}$) and by GUS assay. Among them one positive plant was to amplify the native sequences flanking to the introduced GUS gene in plant genome by inverse PCR method and from this 730 by DNA product was obtained. After subcloning and sequencing, it has 88% homology to the Eucalyptus gunnii CAD(cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase) gene. The GUS gene fused with the putative promoter reinserted into poplar leaves by particle bombardment method to test the funtional promoter activity. Upon staining with X-gluc, many blue spots appeared on the leaf segments bombarded by the chimeric gene 2-3 days, thus the isolated DNA fragment contain some possible coding region as well as a putative regulatory sequences of poplar CAD gene.
