A Construction of The Multimedia Expert System For Wargame Su, pp.rt (워게임 지원용 멀티미디어 전문가시스템 구축)

  • 현재 우리 군에서는 첨단과학무기를 이용한 전투력을 신속히 집중, 전환시키고 효과적으로 통합 운용해야하는 각급 제대의 지휘관 및 참모의 지휘통제능력 향상을 위하여 첨단 컴퓨터장비를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 기법을 통한 워게임 모델을 개발하여 이를 이용한 훈련을 실시하고 있다. 이 워게임 모델중 지상전투의 가장 기본이 되는 근접전투 시뮬레이션은 미국에서 개발도입된 "COBRA" 시스템을 이용하고 있으나 한국실정에 맞는 시스템으로 확장 및 유지보수가 어렵고, 상위시스템의 서브시스템으로만 운영되고있어 자체 교육훈련 및 전투분석을 위한 단독시스템으로 운영이 어려운 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 극복하고, 방대한 양의 지식을 효율적이고 효과적으로 표현할 수 있으며 시스템의 확장 및 유지보수가 용이하고 우리실정에 적합한 전투 훈련을 실시하도록 지원하는 워게임(근접전투) 지원용 멀티미디어 전문가시스템을 개발하였다. 본 논문에서 개발한 전문가시스템은 쌍방이 부대들의 근접전투를 실시할 때 실전에서 나타날 수 있는 가능한 모든 상황의 데이터를 이용하여 전투상황을 분석하며, 기존의 획일적이고 단순한 형태로 결과를 판정하던 것을 전투원의 사기, 체력, 전투한계 등 심리적 요소까지 고려함으로써 새로이 변화되는 전쟁양상에 쉽게 적응할 수 있는 확장성 및 유지보수가 용이하며 시스템 단독으로 운영하여 반복적으로 전투를 분석하고 교육훈련을 실시하도록 함으로써 실전적이고 실질적인 근접전투 워게임지원이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 전문가 시스템을 개발함에 있어서 지식베이스 모듈, 추론엔진 모듈 및 설명 모듈은 전문가 시스템 개발도구인 Smart Elements를 이용하여 구축하였으며, 사용자 인터페이스 모듈은 멀티미디어 저적도구인 툴북 3.0을 이용하였으며, 마지막으로 전체적인 모듈은 API를 이용 통합하여 하나의 응용소프트웨어를 생성하였다.

Agent-Based Modeling Methodology for Close-Combat Attrition Estimates (Agent 기반 모델링에 의한 근접전투 손실예측 방법론)

  • This paper suggests more improved war-game modeling methodology for close combat attrition modeling. Military operation analysts have been using equation-based modeling techniques such as Lanchester-type differential equation modeling, for combat attrition evaluation. This modeling methodology is easy to analyze and evaluate the war-game simulation results but has several limitations to simulate the dynamic combat environment. To overcome these shortcomings, we propose the agent-based modeling methodology. This methodology is modeling close combat based in attrition behaviors instead of attrition coefficients. The simulation analysis & evaluation is executed for these two kinds of modeling methodology on the similar close combat situation.

Developing an Expert System for Close Combat using Decision Tree (의사결정나무를 이용한 근접전투전문가시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a new expert system for close combat in military war game model for training. Simulation logic for damage assesment is one of the main simulation functions in military war game. In Changcho 21's model which is the war game model for Republic of Korea Army corps and division, the main function of close combat's damage assessment has not been calculated by Changcho 21's model, but by COBRA which was made by US Army and has been the expert system for close combat. Results which were calculated in COBRA were sent to Changcho 21's model through a cable network. And Changcho 21's model finally calculated the value of damage assessment with the results. In this paper, we develop an new expert system for close combat using decision tree. The experimental results show that the proposed expert system has similar performance to COBRA and has less computing complexity. And it can substitute for COBRA and be applicable to battlefield.

  • The U.K. during the war on terrorism, the number of military serviceable resources decreased and the volunteer recruitment rate decreased due to the decline in the birth rate, but faced a situation in which complex security threats from IS and Russia gradually increased. As one of the measures to overcome these challenges, the British military promoted a policy to break down existing social conservatism and assign female personnel to close combat positions. The British military formed a consensus within the military through discovery of female military use cases, longitudinal studies, and combat experiments, and then conducted strategic communication to form a social consensus and collect public opinions. In addition, to improve the reliability of the policy, established a combat fitness evaluation system that any combatant who performs close combat should pass. In Korea, amid accelerating competition for hegemony between the U.S. and China, security threats are increasing due to a decrease in military serviceable resources caused by population cliffs. Therefore, the case of the British military will give us considerable implications while also helping to provide the direction necessary for establishing future women's workforce policies.

  • In this paper, we propose a new close combat expert system to overcome the difference of combat damage assessments between combat units belong to their own model in Combined Arms Integrated Interoperability System(CAIIS) which will be deployed in the early future. When it happens to engage in a battle among combat units belong to their own model in CAIIS, the result of damage assessment is different severely. This is related to CAIIS's confidence and need to be overcome. We propose the expert system for close combat damage assessment with a decision tree. Simulation results show that the proposed expert system is valid well. Because the proposed expert system is made not as an independent system but as an inner module type of CAIIS, CAIIS will be simpler system than we expect. And we will hope to reduce the cost of CAIIS.

  • The real data obtained from field exercises has a crucial role in modeling and simulation of a combat or a wargame. This becomes an important input especially in analyzing weapon systems realization. Many existing models have been using the mean value of the time between each fire. The firing data can be incorporated into a known probability distribution or used directly as an empirical distribution. Data of field exercises are very useful instead of the real combat outcomes. This study finds a new modeling approach and techniques to compare the data with the previously generated outcomes. This fundamental research work will continue to consider more of the various weapon systems, the sizes, and other tactical aspects.

  • 야간 근접전투의 원활한 수행을 위하여 전장감시 및 정밀 조준사격을 위한 조준경 개발은 매우 중요하다. 영상증폭장비 및 열상장비의 특성을 고려한 무기체계 개발은 지속적으로 추진되어야 할 것이다. 그리고 현재 기술수준을 고려시 개인화기 조준경은 무게가 가볍고 부피가 작으며 운용성면에서 월등히 유리한 영상증폭방식이 야간전용의 단일기능으로 개발이 요구되며, 악천후시 탐지능력이 우수하나 무겁고 부피가 크며 전력소모가 많은 열상장비는 공용화가 조준경 및 관측경 등으로 개발이 요구된다.

An Occlusion Resolution Technique Applying Camera Shots in Close Quater Combat of the Game (게임의 근접전투에서 카메라 샷을 적용한 오클루젼 해결 기법)

  • In a game such as MMORPG, players often see occlusions between primary actors in a shot where shows a close quarter combat. This paper proposes an occlusion resolution technique(MOS) by grafting a medium shot technique and an over-shoulder shot technique to strengthen a confrontation structure. A medium shot technique sets 4 reference points at the up/down/left/right on the sphere of target. An over-shoulder shot technique is a technique of locating the reference points on the side variably. An occluder is replaced with 2 spheres. If a ray is emitted to a reference point from the camera point and intersects a sphere of occluder, it becomes a potential occlusion state. If so, we start to move the camera to the right or left of the occluder, keep moving it while new position of camera is in potential occlusion state, and stop its movement when the occlusion is resolved. Our experiments show that MOS technique consumes operational time of $13.7{\mu}s$ per shot on average, and that it resolves occlusions in 9.26% of ratio on average, and so doesn't have any effect on viewer's sight.

  • In this paper, the combat effectiveness of ship guidance rockets to counter the threat of multiple USV(Unmanned Surface Vehicle) was analyzed in three cases. The probability of sinking a number of USVs approaching by distance was compared using various weapon systems and guided rocket systems installed on the naval vessels. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the combat effectiveness of the guided rocket was improved compared to the close defense system of the anti-ship missile installed on the naval vessels.
