A Study on the Relationship between Leadership Styles and Organizational Outcome in Oklahoma's Volunteer Fire Department (리더십 유형과 조직성과와의 관계 분석 - 미국 오클라호마주 의용소방대를 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to determine dominant leadership styles of the U.S. volunteer fire department and analyzes relationship between leadership styles of a fire chiefs and organizational outcome. This study reviewed 205 volunteer fire fighters in Oklahoma State which is located in middle and southern part of the U.S. As research results, it turned out that the most common leadership type of volunteer fire chiefs is transformational leadership. The second most common leadership type is transactional leadership. Laissez-faire leadership was the least common leadership type. This study analyzed that transformational leadership and transactional leadership have positive relationship with organizational outcome. In contrast, laissez-faire leadership has negative relationship with organizational outcome. Also, it turned out that the volunteer fire fighters evaluate that transformational and transactional leadership decrease as working years of current volunteer fire chiefs increase.

Incident shock and Related Factors in Rescue Workers (구조대원의 사건충격 정도와 관련 요인 분석)

  • This study was designed to identify the extent of incident shock who are in high risk of post traumatic shock stress, and analyze the related factors that affect the extent of incident shock. The subjects are 415 rescue workers from Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters, who are in high frequency of fire outbreaks and rescue mobilization. With a reliability of Cronbach's ${\alpha}$=.975, the results show invasion, avoidance, sleep disorder and emotional paralysis, dissociative symptom, hyper arousal as foremost causes respectively. Moreover, the results imply that the extent of incident shock was higher in people with more age or being married. Also, from the occupational perspective, the number of years as fire fighters, as rescue workers, mobilization and experiences at work in proportion to incident shocks has risen exponentially. It is notable that the groups who alleviate stress by consuming liquors had higher extent of incident shock. In conclusion, to deal with groups in high risk, management system and prevention care programs for incident shocks need to be introduced immediately and put into effect.

Analysis on Taxation Public Servant's Pride in Organization (세무공무원의 조직에 대한 자긍심 분석)

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate empirically the relationship among organization identity, organization immersion, and pride(또는 self-esteem) of taxation public servants. The results of the research showed the following. First, the research showed that gender and work year, as individual characteristic variables, influence a significant effect on organization identity. Second, it turned out that the pride of taxation pubic servants influences a positive effect on organization identity, and groups of lower pride affect organization identity more than groups of higher pride. Third, it turned out that the pride of taxation public servants also influences a positive effect on organization immersion. In other words, taxation public servants with higher pride showed higher organization immersion. Groups of lower pride affect organization immersion more than groups of higher pride. These results verified that higher pride of organization members can strengthen organization identity and organization immersion.

Facters Influencing Re-employment of the Semi-Aged workers in Daegu Metropolitan Area (준고령자의 재취업결정요인 분석-대구광역시를 중심으로-)

  • The purposes of this research are to explore factors that affect re-employment revitalization of the semi-aged workers and to seek practical and specific improvement plans to activate the semi-aged worker's re-employment. For the purposes of this research, face to face interviews were conducted between March 18th and April 10th, 2016 among 375 semi-aged who are currently searching for a job or re-employed among the semi-aged between 50 and 64 years old and reside in Daegu Metropolitan City. According to logistic regression analysis, sex, subjective health condition, working period, and information supply have statistically significant positive impacts on re-employment of the semi-aged workers. On the other hand, simple labor work and seeking job period have statistically significant negative impacts on re-employment of the semi-aged workers. Finally, policy implications for the improvement of re-employment of the semi-aged workers were introduced and discussed.

  • As the Port State Control Inspection recognized that almost marine casualties are caused by human faults rather than vessel's defaults, it has put more emphasis on the qualification of ships' crew and the education required. Accordingly, for shipping companies it is an urgent task to operate effective crew education system that can meet the standards of international agreements and domestic laws. Therefore, this study aims at deriving the attitude of crews of 'S' shipping company on the education and some implication for the effective crew education systems. For this questionnaire survey has been carried out and the data analysed by the respondent groups.

The Effects of Individual and Environmental Characteristics of Secondary-school Teachers on Teacher Efficacy and Job Satisfaction (중등교사의 개인 특성과 환경 특성이 교사효능감과 직무만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was executed to verify the effects of individual and environmental characteristics of secondary-school teachers on teacher efficacy and job satisfaction. To do so, a survey of teacher efficacy and job satisfaction was conducted to 696 man and woman teachers from 55 secondary schools in Gwangju and Jeonnam province, and then the results of the survey were analyzed. In this study, teacher efficacy was composed as four factors: sense of calling, teaching-learning, colleague relation and school organization. And job satisfaction was categorized as three factors: job relation, compensation system and working environment. The Multivariate analysis results showed a significant difference in teacher efficacy and job satisfaction according to teachers' individual characteristics and working environment. Conclusively, teacher efficacy and job satisfaction are complicated factors formed by teachers' individual and environmental characteristics. To improve secondary-school teachers' teacher efficacy and job satisfaction, it is necessary to develop training and education programs reflecting individual and environmental characteristics.

A Study on Current Status of Continuing Education for Enhancing School Librarians' Expertise: Focusing on the Goyang-si in Gyeonggi-do (학교도서관 전문인력의 계속교육 실태와 개선방안에 관한 연구 - 경기도 고양지역을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status and condition of continuing education to improve professionalism of school library and to suggest ways to improve continuing education. The survey was conducted for 69 librarians and school librarians teachers in elementary, middle and high school libraries in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, and frequency analysis and cross analysis were conducted. The research results are as follows. First, the study found that librarians have a high interest in and participation in continuing education. Second, the type of continuing education with the highest percentage of participation was short-term training and training courses, and the link between educational content and practice was low. Third, managers' awareness needs to be improved, and regional constraints and the lack of suitable continuing education programs are the obstacles to continuing education. Fourth, preference for continuing education during working hours and vacation was emphasized. Through this, it was suggested that continuous and long-term continuing education, policy support for encouraging continuing education, development of continuing education courses for professionalism, manager's awareness call.

An Analysis of Middle school Technology Teachers' Stage of Concerns about Maker Education By Concerns-Based Adoption Model (관심기반수용모형(CBAM)에 의한 중학교 기술교사의 메이커 교육 관심도 분석)

  • In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, maker education is drawing attention as a method of student-led education. At a time when interest in maker education is also growing in technology education, figuring out what stage of concern(SoC) a middle school technology teacher is critical to effective implementation. This study analyzed SoC in maker education by layer sampling among 400 middle school technology teachers using Concerns-based adoption model. SoC was then obtained by measuring the origin using the SoCQ and then presenting it as a SOCQ profile. Gender, training experience with two lower variables were analyzed using t verification, working cities, teaching experience with more than three lower variables were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Studies showed that SoC in maker education of middle school technology teachers showed the most similar characteristics to that of non-users. The difference in concern depending on gender was that male teachers were more concerned in maker education than female teachers. The difference in concern depending on the working city was that teachers working in the township were more concerned in the maker education than teachers working in the large city, and the difference in concern depending on the teaching career was higher among teachers with middle experience than those with low and high experience. There was also a higher stage of concern in maker education than in teachers without training experience. Therefore, it is necessary to provide middle school technology teachers with an introduction to the maker education and various information, teaching, learning and evaluation data to enhance overall concern and to support the use and evaluation of the maker education in the classroom by providing various teacher training and consulting on the maker education in the future. Further, through further study, we should conduct study that analyzes both Stage of Concern, Level of Use and Innovation Configuration, to put in the effort for effective settlement of maker education.

Awareness of the Job Task Importance and Performance of Occupational Therapists in the Elderly Community Care System (노인 커뮤니티케어제도 내 작업치료사의 업무중요도와 수행에 대한 인식)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness of job task importance and performance of occupational therapists in the community care system for the elderly. Methods : We conducted an online questionnaire survey of 152 occupational therapists nationwide from May 31, to June 24, 2019. General characteristics and institutional awareness, role and performance awareness were analyzed by descriptive statistics. One way ANOVA were conducted to compare the differences of working days, working places, and the field of work. Results : The recognition of the community care system for the elderly was low at 2.93 ± 1.0 but the importance of the community care system was 3.94 ± 0.7 and the importance of the occupational therapist in the system was 4.34 ± 0.7. Fall prevention (4.63 ± 0.7) was the most important in occupational therapist's jobs, and performance was high in instrumental activity daily living training (3.94 ± 0.8) and physical function training (3.94 ± 0.8). Conclusion : This study can be presented as basic data on job task importance and performance awareness of occupational therapists in the elderly community care system. In addition, it is expected to be used as basic data for establishing the role of occupational therapist in the elderly community care system.

A Survey on a Status of Sensory Integration Therapy in Korea (국내 감각통합치료 실태조사)

  • Objective : To provide a foundation to develop clinical training program based on a status of sensory integration therapy in Korea identified through the study. Methods : A questionnaire has been developed that is investigating such as environment of therapy, level of knowledge of therapist, and etc. The questionnaire was distributed from June 1st,2014 June 1 to August 31st,2014. The total questionnaire result collected and analyzed are 232 responses. Results : In terms of ratio of therapist who are administrating sensory integration, occupational therapist takes biggest percentage. In most case, it is equipped enough to do treatment in terms of space and tools. Generally, therapists are performing evaluation and documentation earnestly, and willingly participating to continued education and clinical training coursework. However, it is found that some cases are implementing treatment without through evaluation and/or without professional training. Conclusion : This study propose that sensory integration therapists need to train their clinical knowledge and skills through professional training education based on the Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) theory. Most of professional trainings are administered in capital area currently. The educational opportunities need to be extend to outside of capital region so the level of clinical competence and the quality of the therapy service can be improved.
