  • Graphical regression is a paradigm for obtaining regression information using plots without model assumptions. The general goal of this approach is to find lowdimensional sufficient summary plots without loss of important information. Model assessments using residual plots are less likely to be successful in models that are not linear. As an alternative approach, marginal model plots provide a general graphical method for assessing the model. We apply the methods of graphical regression and model assessment using marginal model plots to the logistic regression model.

  • In order to represent multiple regression data, an alternative graphical method, called as SSR Plot, is proposed by using geometrical description methods. This plot uses the relation that the sum of sqaures for regression (SSR) of two explanatory variables is known as the sum of the SSR of one variable and the increase in the SSR due to the addition of other variable to the model that already contains a variable. This half circle shaped SSR plot contains vectors corresponding explanatory variables. We might conclude that some explanatory variables corresponding to vectors which locate near the horisontal axis do affect the response variable. Also, for the regression model with two explanatory variables, a magnitude of the angle between two vectors can be identified for suppression.

  • Most statistical methods are dependent on the summary statistic. However, with graphical approaches, it is easier to identify the characteristics of the data and detect information that cannot be obtained by the summary statistic. We present various graphical methods to assess the adequacy of models in logistic regression that include checking log-density ratio, structural dimension, marginal model plot, chi-residual plot, and CERES plot. Through simulation data, we investigate and compare the results of graphical approaches under diverse conditions.

  • Graphical paradigms for assessing the adequacy of models in logistic regression are discussed. The residual plot has been widely used as a graphical tool for evaluating the adequacy of the model. However, this approach works well only for linear models with constant variance, and the alternative approach, the marginal model plot, has its defects as well. We suggest a Chi-residual plot that overcomes the potential shortcomings of the marginal model plot.

  • A geometrical description method is proposed to represent the process of the forward selection and backward elimination methods among many variable selection methods for multiple regression models. This graphical method shows the process of the forward selection and backward elimination on the first and second quadrants, respectively, of half circle with a unit radius. At each step, the SSR is represented by the norm of vector and the extra SSR or partial determinant coefficient is represented by the angle between two vectors. Some lines are dotted when the partial F test results are statistically significant, so that statistical analysis could be explored. This geometrical description can be obtained the final regression models based on the forward selection and backward elimination methods. And the goodness-of-fit for the model could be explored.

  • The objective of this study is mainly to examine factors affecting utilization of graphical emoticons in the environment of mobile messenger. For this purpose, this research identified several determinants including demographic variables that have influences on utilization of graphical emoticons by an overview of prior research on Big 5 model and Uses and Gratification (U & G). An online survey was employed to collect data, and hierarchical regression analysis was used for data analysis. The results showed that females and younger respondents have higher utilization of graphical emoticons than males and the older. The findings also showed that extraversion as personal traits has influences on the utilization. And they indicated that people increase their utilization of graphical emoticons when they want to communicate with others efficiently and succinctly, and to follow the trend. The practical and theoretical implications of the findings in this study are also discussed.

  • This study examined the factors determining experience of flow in mobile social network games. Built upon the literature on flow experience in the Internet and online games, this study classified the determining factors into three categories. The first category is the content factor which includes graphic design, challenge, and incentive; the second is the device factor including ease of access and ease of control; the third is the social factor including social interaction and community activities. A correlation analysis was conducted to examine the association between each of the seven determining factors and flow experience. Additionally, a hierarchical regression analysis was performed to evaluate which of the selected factors would exert a relatively strong influence on experience of flow. Both analyses reached the same conclusions as follows: Graphic design, incentive, and community activities increase flow experience while challenge and ease of control exert little influence on flow experience. In addition, graphic design was the most influential element in determining flow experience, followed by community activities and incentive, respectively.

  • There can be three objectives why we apply 3D graphics in TV interface. First, inevitable usability. 3D space is the most inevitable way for product-user interaction deviating from the current aesthetic or technical purpose of use. Second, enhance emotional satisfaction by merging interface into real life. Beyond digilog(analog+digital), we wanted users to naturally use the interface as if they are using everyday objects. And in order to do this properly, we analyzed the behaviors of users how they use their everyday objects and then analyzed the attributes beyond each behavior. Third, capaticy for enourmous contents of the incorporated TV. The most efficient way to display enormous amounts of contents in a limited screen is 3D. And that 3D space gives us almost unlimited capacity in accepting contents. Now to conclude, using 3D graphics for TV interface has significance in many ways but the issue is how we can maintain the 3D effects while customizing them into real products.

  • With the development of the aviation industry, aircraft painting design also plays the role of transmitting the national image while conveying the individual image of the airline. The recognition and recognition of the national image can be obtained by building a national brand. As a result, more and more companies are using the national brand image of their own country or other countries to add value to the company. Objective: To better reflect the national brand recognition for the design of the tail fin in the future aircraft painting design. This paper mainly studies the correlation between the tail graphic elements of aircraft painting design and national brand recognition based on the tail graphics of the three major airline alliance members. Based on the prior research, the relevant hypotheses were proposed and the questionnaire was designed. Secondly, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the passengers using the aircraft, and the correlation analysis was performed on the data by the SPSS regression analysis method. Conclusion: Data analysis has a strong correlation.

  • We use the regression model with the indicator variables in the case that we use qualitative variables as some predictor variables in regression analysis. We use the ANCOVA(Analysis of Covariance) model when comparing the response variable among groups while statistically controlling for variation in the response variable caused by a variation in the covariate. DD-plot can be used as a graphical exploratory data analysis tool before the confirmatory data analysis. With the DD-plot, we can discriminate the difference of groups in the regression model with the indicator variables or the ANCOVA model at a glance. Making DD-plot does not demand the statistical model assumption about error terms in regression model. Several examples show the usefulness of DD-plots as a graphical exploratory data analysis tool for the regression analysis.
