  • This paper proposes a $O(n^2)$ polynomial time algorithm to obtain optimal solution for Traveling Salesman problem that is a NP-complete because polynomial time algorithm has been not known yet. The biggest problem in a large-scale Traveling Salesman problem is the fact that the amount of data to be processed is $n{\times}n$, and thus as n increases, the data increases by multifold. Therefore, this paper proposes a methodology by which the data amount is first reduced to approximately n/2. Then, it seeks a bi-directional route at a random point. The proposed algorithm has proved to be successful in obtaining the optimal solutions with $O(n^2)$ time complexity when applied to TSP-1 with 26 European cities and TSP-2 with 46 cities of the USA. It could therefore be applied as a generalized algorithm for TSP.

  • This study predicted rice harvest date in South Korea using 11-year (2012-2022) hindcasts based on dynamically downscaled 2m air temperature at subseasonal (1-month lead) timescale. To obtain high (5 km) resolution meteorological information over South Korea, global prediction obtained from the NOAA Climate Forecast System (CFSv2) is dynamically downscaled using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) double-nested modeling system. To estimate rice harvest date, the growing degree days (GDD) is used, which accumulated the daily temperature from the seeding date (1 Jan.) to the reference temperature (1400℃ + 55 days) for harvest. In terms of the maximum (minimum) temperatures, the hindcasts tends to have a cold bias of about 1. 2℃ (0. 1℃) for the rice growth period (May to October) compared to the observation. The harvest date derived from hindcasts (DOY 289) well simulates one from observation (DOY 280), despite a margin of 9 days. The study shows the possibility of obtaining the detailed predictive information for rice harvest date over South Korea based on the dynamical downscaling method.

  • In this study, we performed a downscaling of an ECHAM5 simulated dataset for the current and future climate produced under the Special Report on Emission Scenarios A1B (SRES A1B) by utilizing the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Regional Spectral Model (RSM). The current climate simulation was performed for the period 1980-2000 and the future climate run for the period 2040-2070 for the COordinated Regional climate Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX)'s East Asia domain. The RSM is properly able to reproduce the climatological fields from the evaluation of the current climate simulation. Future climatological precipitation during the summer season is increased over the tropical Oceans, the maritime-continent, and Japan. In winter, on the other hand, precipitation is increased over the tropical Indian Ocean, the maritime-continents and the Western North Pacific, and decreased over the eastern tropical Indian Ocean. For the East Asia region few significant changes are detected in the precipitation climatological field. However, summer rainfall shows increasing trend after 2050 over the region. The future climate ground temperature shows a clear increasing trend in comparison with the current climate. In response to global warming, atmospheric warming is clearly detected, which strengthens the upper level trough.

  • Recently, in digital agriculture, the types and utilization of greenhouses based on IoT are spreading, and greenhouses are being modernized, enlarged, and even factoryized using smart technology. However, a specific standardization plan has not been proposed according to the equipment for data collection in the smart greenhouse and the size or shape of the greenhouse. In other words, there is a lack of standard data for facility equipment, such as the type and number of sensors and equipment according to the size of the greenhouse, the type of greenhouse construction film and materials suitable for crops and carbon neutrality. Therefore, in this study, the suitability of the implementation, installation and quantity of IoT equipment for data collection was tested, and some standard technologies were presented through the implementation of data collection and communication methods. In addition, impact strength, tensile, tear, elongation, light transmittance, and lifespan issues for PE, PVC, and EVA, which account for about 90% of existing greenhouses, were presented, and the shape, size, and environmental problems of greenhouses made of films were presented. presented in the text. In this research paper, a standardized carbon-neutral modular smart greenhouse using nano-material film was implemented as a solution to environmental problems such as greenhouse size, farm crop type, greenhouse lifespan, and film, and its performance with existing greenhouses was analyzed and presented. Through this, we propose a modularized greenhouse that can be expanded or reduced freely without distinction in the size of the greenhouse or the shape of farmhouse crops, and the lifespan is extended and standardized. Finally, the average characteristics of greenhouses using existing PE, PVC, and EVA films and the characteristics of greenhouses using new carbon-neutral nanomaterials are compared and reviewed, and a plan to implement an expandable IoT greenhouse that supports carbon neutrality is proposed.

  • Given a state, it is essential to for the finite state model analysis (such as model checking) to decide whether or not the state is reachable. W a site of the model is small, the whole state space is to be explored exhaustively. However, it is very difficult or even impossible if a size of the model is large. In this case, the model can be reduced into a smaller one via abstraction which does not allow e false positive error. this paper, we devise such an abstraction and apply it to the Nemorize game solving. As a result, unsolved game due to the state explosion problem is solved with the proposed abstraction.

  • In this paper, we have presented the simulation results ah)ut threshold voltage for Si-based MOSFETs with channel length of nano scale. We simulated the Si-based n channel MOSFETs with gate lengths from 180 to 30 nm in accordance to the constant voltage scaling theory and the lateral scaling. These MOSFETs had the lightly doped drain(LDD) structure, which is used for the reduction of electric field magnitude and short channel effects at the drain region. The stronger electric field at this region is due to scaling down. We investigated and analyzed the threshold voltage of these devices. This analysis will provide insight into some applicable limitations at the ICs and used for basis data at VLSI.

  • Laboratory procedures are available for estimating contaminant migration from sediment into caps by diffusion, but diffusion may not be the major process affecting capping effectiveness. Movement of contaminated pore water from sediment into caps due to sediment consolidation during and after cap placement may be much more significant than contaminant diffusion into caps. To verify this phenomenon, model tests were conducted by utilizing a research centrifuge. In this study, test was modeled for 22.5 hours at 100 g, which modeled a contaminant migration time of 25 years for a prototype that was 100 times larger than the centrifuge model. Centrifuge test results illustrate that advection and dispersion due to consolidation are dominating the migration of contaminants.

  • Some major properties such as a heat release rate have been measured experimentally for the validation of fire model and the clarification of fire phenomena as the study is more rigorous recently. Although the reduced-scale experiment also provides the basic data and the physical understanding in fire study, it is not enough to explain real fire problem directly because there is no exact analogy theory between a real fire and the reduced scale model. Therefore, large cone calorimeter have been built and used in a few foreign countries for the measurement of large scale fire. This paper addressed the theoretical background and the description of key features in the design of the facility. It will be a useful guide for implementation of the large scale cone calorimeter in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to learn current state of social welfare funds of 6 major cities, and to find better ways to execute those funds as well as to facilitate studies on them. So far, the studies on funds were limited to those on large ones such as pension, yielding scant number of studies on local ones, which could be the practical tools to resolve the problems of the area. To do this, I analyzed the scale of the funds (i.e. the amount of the funds raised, the amount changes in fund execution, and the comparison of the scale between each fund accounts and general accounting) and the characteristics of the fund programs (i.e. the comparison of scales of fund programs of each fund accounts, the content of the programs of each fund accounts, and the characteristics of the budget of each fund accounts). The result shows that 1) the scale of the funds changed accordingly as they were maintained, curtailed and expanded; 2) the scale of the funds were 0.02~1% of that of the general accounting; 3) the fund programs were mostly for decreasing poverty, centered on self support; 4) the social welfare funds and the funds for women were not clearly separated in some local governments, instigating the arguments on the identity of social welfare funds; and 5) the fund programs were run by civil organizations, different from general accounting programs. Based on the findings, to efficiently utilize the social welfare funds, I suggest 1) expansion of the fund scales; 2) diversification of the self-support programs to decrease poverty; 3) specification of the identity of the social welfare funds; and 4) establishment of the public and civil governance.

  • Recently, the top & down method with drilled shafts as a foundation of high rise building is often adopted for the purpose of construction period reduction and construction cost effectiveness. It is common to omit the loading test as a quality assurance on account of the high capacity of drilled shafts for the top & down method. It seems that the capacity of drilled shaft in recent top & down method is beyond that of conventional loading test method. However, the quality assurance for the drilled shaft as foundation of high rise building becomes much more important since the drilled shaft should bear much higher working load. A small scale test pile can be an alternative as a quality assurance for the drilled shaft with hish capacities. Through a case study, this paper gives an idea for solving the limitation of the conventional loading test method for the quality assurance of drilled shaft with high capacities. In particular, this paper analyzed the scale effect for a small drilled shaft installed into bedrock, which could be used for an alternative.
