Thermal Performance of PV Cells Exposed to Irradiation by a Parabolic Trough Concentrator (PTC형 태양열 집열기로 조사되는 PV cell의 열적 성능)

  • 본 연구에서는 PV cell이 직달 일사에 노출되는 경우와 집광된 태양광에 조사되는 경우의 성능을 비교하는 한편 집광기의 형태에 따른 열적 성능을 검토하고자 하였다. PV cell은 본질적으로 반도체의 특성을 가지므로 작동온도의 상승에 따라 성능이 저하된다는 사실이 알려져 있으며, 태양조사의 강도 및 밀도 등 특성에 따라서도 성능의 변화를 예상할 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 성능변화에 관련된 인자들과 그 영향의 크기에 대한 정량적인 기술자료가 부족하므로 설치와 이용에 한계가 있는 것이 현실이다. 인공태양 장치(solar simulator)를 이용하여 0.7에서 1.2 sun 범위의 태양 조사 환경에서 결정질 실리콘계 PV cell과 집광형 PV cell의 성능을 검토하였다. 집광에 사용한 PTC는 집광면적의 폭이 500 mm이며, 집광 조사면적이 최소 10 mm인 경우 이론적 최대 집광비가 50이었다. PTC의 축방향으로는 균일한 태양조사가 있게된다는 것을 가정하여 모델의 길이는 간편한 실험을 위해 150에서 500 mm의 범위에서 제작하였다. 수평으로 놓인 PTC의 상부 초점 위치로부터 집광면이 아래 쪽에 위치할수록 집광 조사 면적이 증가하므로 PV cell의 크기에 따라 PTC 초점의 위치로부터 거리를 결정하였다. 한편, PTC 자체의 성능도 촛점거리와 집광면 폭의 비에 따라 달라질 수 있다는 가정 하에, 포물면의 최저 위치로부터 촛점거리는 각각 300, 400 및 500 mm가 되도록 세가지 형태를 제작하여 사용하였다. 동일한 형태의 PTC에서 PV cell의 동일한 설치 위치에서도 최고 $110^{\circ}C$ 범위의 PV cell의 작동 (표면) 온도에 따른 성능의 차이를 관찰하기 위해 셀의 후면을 냉각시키는 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우를 비교하였다. PV cell의 표면 온도 측정을 위해서, 후면의 온도와 같이 광선 차단 효과의 우려가 없는 경우에는 열전대를 설치하였으며, 셀의 전면 온도 측정을 위해서는 비접촉식 적외선 온도계를 사용하였다. 냉각 방법으로는 공기를 이용한 자연대류와 액체를 사용하는 강제대류의 경우를 고려하였으며, 필요에 따라 적절히 설계된 히트싱크를 설치하여 비교 실험을 진행하였다. 강제대류 냉각의 경우는 항온조를 사용하여 순환하는 냉각수의 유량과 공급온도를 변화시킴으로써 PV cell의 작동온도를 조절하고, 이에 따른 발전 성능의 변화를 관찰하였다. 본 연구에서 도출한 실험 및 분석 결과는 PV cell의 설치 환경과 작동온도의 변화에 따라 그 성능 변화를 예측할 수 있는 기술적 자료를 제공함으로써 에너지 이용의 합리화를 도모하는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

Selecting and Assessing Vulnerable Zones of Snow Damage in Urban Areas - the case of City of Busan (도심의 설해취약지역 선정 및 위험도 평가에 관한 연구 - 부산광역시 지형적 특성을 중심으로 -)

  • Recent huge losses of both life and property have occurred by unexpected natural disasters. We studied snow damages, an important natural disaster issue because it happens more frequently in recent years. This study tries to select vulnerable areas of snowfall in advance and then establish climate change adaptation policy for minimizing unexpected snowfall damage. Busan, where is our study area, has hilly in downtown areas so that topography characteristics of the roads such as slope, elevation and aspect are vulnerable to snowfall. The sudden snowfall in Busan causes traffic jam and causes some schools in hilly to close some schools. At this moment, the adaptation policy has to be established for infrastructure (such as roads) in advance, because prediction of anomaly climate due to global warming is so difficult beside the damage of natural disaster is huge. Therefore, the purpose of this study is contribute to selecting and assessing vulnerable zones of snow damage focusing topography characteristics of the roads and then evaluating the degree of risk of vulnerable zones.

Studies on the Some Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Nutmeg Oil by Different Extraction Methods (추출방법에 따른 Nutmeg Oil의 물리적, 화학적 성질에 관한 연구)

  • The physical properties of essential oil of nutmeg extracted in different methods (SDE, Solvent, $CO_2$) were investigated and also the components of essential oil were analyzed using G.C. and G.C./ Mass. Solvent extraction yield was 23% and was higher than those of SDE extraction and $CO_2$ extraction. From the analysis result and physical properties of nutmeg oil, it was conformed that the nutmeg used In this experiment was similar to East Indies type. The content of sabinene was 3.6-14.1%, 28.4-48.7% for myristicin, 1.2-2.1% for elemicin, and 3.6-5.6% for safrole. The camphene was identified in SDE extracts but not in $CO_2$ extracts. The volatile components of SDE extracts and solvent extracts contained large amount of monoterpene and terpene alcohol but $CO_2$ extracts aminly contained aromatic compounds.

  • SolarPACES(Solar Power and Chemical Energy systems) is an international organization under the REWP(Renewable Energy Working Party)in the IEA(International Energy Agency) and focuses on the technology development and market expansion of CSP(Concentrating Solar Power). Seventeen countries including Rep. of Korea participate in the ExCo(Executive Committee) of SolarPACES. The ExCo meeting helds two times in a year and the second ExCo meeting opens in company with the five Task meetings. Rep. of Korea takes part in the Task-1officially. The 81th ExCo and Task meetings were held during September 18 and 19 in Spain with SolarPACES conference which also continued in succession to September 23 in this year. This paper introduces the activities which have been under progressed in the Task-1 and Task-3based on this time attendance of the meeting. In accordance with the expansion of CSP market and technology development, the needs for the standardization and project status underway in the world are increasing. Therefore, build an international project database and standard of the CSP technology are the main activities in the Task-1 and the standardization is also connected with the Task-3. In addition, to increase the reliability of the new technology of CSP and to reduce the concern of investors, the Task-1 is making guidelines for CSP performance prediction which can provide medium quality calculated performance data of PTC(Parabolic Trough Concentrator) type technology widely used and occupies over 90% CSP market.

Analysis of Taxol and Related Compounds in Ullung Island Yew (Taxus cuspidata var. latifolia) (울릉도 주목(Tiaxus cuspidata var. latifolia)의 Taxol 및 관련 화합물의 함량분석)

  • The content of taxol and related compounds in various tissues of native yews( T. cuspidata var. latifolia) grown in 5 locations of Ullung Island were analyzed. A considerable range of vanation in the content was observed in the needle and bark collected from different trees located at the same area as well as at five different areas. Taxol content was much higher in the needle(0.017% on the dry weight basis) than those in the bark, whereas the content of 10-deacetyl baccatin III(10-DAB III) was slightly higher in the bark(0.073%), regardless of the location of the trees collected. Particuayly, the needle collected from the Hyunpo area, which located in North-west part of Ullung Island, contained the highest level of taxol(0.024%) exceeding the reported level in dried barks of Pacific yew and also somewhat higher level of its Precusor, 10-DAB III(0.049%). These results suggested that the needle of the yew at the Ullung Island could be suitable materials as a renewable source for the mass production of taxol.

The Literature Study on Correlation between Wushijiuyu(五十九兪) and Fangfengtongshengsan(防風通聖散) for the Treatment of Fever Disease ($\ll$황제내경(黃帝內經)$\gg$의 열병(熱病) 치료혈(治療穴)과 방풍통성산(防風通聖散)의 이론적 상관성에 관한 연구)

  • Backgrounds : There have not been so many studies about the correlation of logical background between acupuncture and herbal medicine. Objectives : This study was aimed to find out the logical relationship between acupuncture points of Wushijiuyu(五十九兪) and Fangfengtongshengsan(防風通聖散) for the treatment of fever disease. Methods : I investigated the background of rationale of Wushijiuyu(五十九兪) and Fangfengtongshengsan(防風通聖散) through survey of classical text include Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine(.帝.經內經, Hwang Di Nei Jing), Liujing(類經), Zhenjiujiayijing(鍼灸甲乙經) and Huangdisuwenxuanmingfanglun(黃帝素問宣明方論). Results & Conclusions : The words "Wushijiuyu(五十九兪) and Wushijiuci(五十九刺)" are founded in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine(黃帝內經) are either prescription of the acupuncture points for the treatment of fever disease. However, acupuncture points of two methods are not same. According to Liujing(類經), Wushijiuyu(五十九兪) have used acupuncture points located in head, upper and lower extremities, trunk, and back. However Wushijiuci(五十九刺) just select acupuncture points of head and extremities without those of trunk and back. Acupuncture points located in yang meridian(45points) and Dumai(督脈, 5points) are significantly used more than those of yin meridian(8 points) and Renmai(任脈, 2points) in Wushijiuyu(五十九兪) and Wushijiuci(五十九刺). The distribution of acupuncture points used Wushijiuyu(五十九兪) have closer correlation with Fangfengtongshengsan(防風通聖散) than Wushijiuci(五十九刺) in the prescription.

  • 1. The analysis of the shoot height growth of Phyllostachys edulis A. et C. Rivi$\acute{e}$re which stand is growing at the middle part of South Korea is presented in the present paper. The shoot height was carefully measured twice a day, 10 am and 4 pm. With this, six hours from 10 am to 4 pm is regarded as day-time-length and 18 hours of the rest as night-length. 2. The measurement were made in 1954. The very young shoots were classed into three diameter groups basing at the ground surface level to see the the afterwards influences of shoot size on height growth. 3. The hourly mean height growth in day time was higher than that in night time. The standard deviations and coefficients of variations of the daily growth of the shoot are presented in Figures 2 and 3 respectively. 4. The hourly mean height growth of the shoot by diameter groups and by day and night period are presented in Fig. 4 and 5 respectively. 5. The growth percentages of the shoot by diameter groups and by day and night is graphed in Fig. 6.

  • Due to the development in industrial technology, changes in consumer behavior and aggravating competition within the industry, it is growing only harder every day to build up a strong brand power. Besides, a brand is supposed to age as time goes by, following a brand life cycle, as it is not a solid, immutable asset but something of a living creature. Therefore, self-renovation and revitalization efforts are needed, in order to incessantly confirm the self existence through the relationship with the consumer. In sum, revitalization operation is needed to renew a brand that has grown trite in the passage of time or due to the change in market condition, so as to bring it back anew to the consumers. This study did not stop at measuring the effect of a design renewal as a short-term assignment, but focused on the long-term brand management following the brand life cycle and aimed to define the effective timing and method of revitalization by comprehending the analysis results of consumer consciousness by analyzing the successful cases of brand revitalization and selecting the research analysis targets. As a result, this study proved that a properly-timed brand revitalization efforts in order to cope in advance with predictable changes in environment, can significantly prevent any drop of brand equity from occurring and then extend the brand life cycle. Also, this study could find that a brand revitalization is not a mere concept of a strategy for a short-term sales increase, but should be a long-term strategy to manage a brand, which must be practiced continuously in the time when the brand life cycle curve starts to fall. This research could also confirm that a superficial design renewal, which changes only the packaging of a brand, peformed in short-term haste, is not of help at all.
