Recently, the Supreme Court of Korea delivered a milestone judgment about air related multimodal transport. At there, the mattered cargo, some expensive jewellery, was transported from Qingdao, China to downtown office of consignee at Seoul via Incheon airport in Korea. As an air waybill was issued in this case, there was an air transport agreement between consignor and air courier operator. After arriving at Incheon airport, the shipment was transport by land arranged by the air courier operator, who was a defendant in this case. Upon arriving at the final destination, it was found that the jewellery was lost partly and based on circumstantial evidence, the damage presumed to be occurred during the land transport. As a subrogee, the insurance company who paid for consignee filed an action against the air courier operator for damage compensation. Defendant contended that Montreal convention should be applicable in this case mainly for limited liability. The lower court of this case confirmed that applying the limited liability clause under Montreal Convention is improper under the reason that the damage in this case was or presumed to be occurred during surface transport. It was focused on the Montreal Convention article 18 which says that the period of the carriage by air does not extend to any carriage by land, by sea or by inland waterway performed outside an airport. However, the Supreme Court overturned the lower court's decision. The delivered opinion is that the terms of condition on the air waybill including limited liability clause should be prevailed in this case. It seems that the final judgment was considered the fact that the only contract made in this case was about air transport. This article is for analysis the above decisions from the perspective that it is distinguishable between a pure multimodal transport and an expanded air transport. The main idea of this article is that under the expanded air transport, any carriage by land, sea or inland waterway only for the performance of a contract for carriage by air, for the purpose of loading, delivery or transhipment is still within the scop of air transport.

This study was conducted to know the optimal supplementary level of spent mushroom substrates (Flammulina velutipes) as an energy source and fermentation period in manufacturing of rye silage. Whole crop rye was harvested at full bloom stage and ensiled with spent mushroom substrates of 20%(S-20), 40%(S-40) and 60%(S-60) as fresh matter basis. Each silage was prepared in plastic buckets included with vinyl bag by three replications and fermented for 3, 6 and 9 weeks, respectively. Moisture contents of whole crop rye at full bloom stage and spent mushroom substrates were 62.3% and 54.3%, respectively, and those of silages was ranged from 58% to 64%. Ether extracts content of silages was significantly (P<0.05) increased in 6 weeks of fermentation period. The pH of silages ranged from 4.46 to 5.05, and fluctuated in the changes by fermentation period beside of decreased with elapsing the period in the S-60. The organic acid content of silages was higher in the order of lactic acid, butyric acid, acetic acid and propionic acid. Lactic acid content was higher when fermented for 6 weeks compared to the other fermentation period. Flieg's score for estimation of silage quality ranged from 63 to 80, and was relatively high level in the S-20 and the S-40 fermented for 6 weeks, and was high level in S-20, and was relatively low level in the silages fermented for 3 week. Hence, we suggest that supplementation of 20% spent mushroom substrates in fresh matter basis and fermentation for 6 weeks are resonable for a good quality of rye silage.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of non-specific immuno-stimulator(NIS) supplementation on growth performance and carcass characteristics in finishing pigs. A total of eighty[Duroc${\times}$Yorkshir${\times}$Landrace] pigs(60.55${\pm}$3.72 kg in average initial body weight) were used for a 9-week assay. Dietary treatments included as follows 1) CON(basal diet), 2) NIS1(basal diet for 6 weeks and 0.05% NIS for 3 weeks), 3) NIS2(basal diet for 3 weeks and 0.05% NIS for 6 weeks) and 4) NIS3(0.05% NIS for 9 weeks). Average daily gain during the feeding period was not significantly different among the treatments (p>0.05). However, average daily feed intake was higher in NIS2 than CON(p<0.05). Backfat thickness did not differ among the treatments(p>0.05). The appearance rate of A or B carcass grade was much higher in NIS1 (58%) and NIS3 (75%) than CON(50%) and NIS2(50%). L*(lightness) value of loin was higher in NIS1 and NIS3 than CON and NIS2. However, there was no effect by dietary NIS(p>0.05). Although a*(redness) value of loin was lower in CON than other treatments, there was no significant difference among the treatments(p>0.05). No remarkable differences were found in sensory properties(marbling, firmness and color) among the treatments. The results from the present study suggest that NIS could be an effective feed additive to improve pork quality. However, further research is needed to investigate effect of carcass characteristics.
The quality changes by storage conditions were examined in order to establish the optimum CA storage conditions of unbagged and bagged 'Fuji' apples. The weight retention rate of apples was higher in CA than air storage, but there was no significant difference among CA conditions. Bagged apples had higher weight than unbagged apples under the same condition. The loss of flesh firmness, titratable acidity and green color of apples was retarded more effectively in 1% $O_2$ than 3% $O_2$ storage, and in $0^{\circ}C$ and 3% $CO_2$ than $2^{\circ}C$ and 1% $CO_2$ with 1% $O_2$ Titratable acidity tended to decrease more rapidly in bagged than unbagged apples. Soluble solid was not affected by storage conditions. Internal browning was developed within 2 months in 1% $O_2$ and 3% $CO_2$ storage, but there was no significant difference according to storage years and bagging treatment. At the sensory evaluation, unbagged apples were rated as higher quality than bagged apples after 8 months storage, and the hardness, juiciness, acidity and overall acceptability of apples stored in 1% $O_2$ were Higher than those in 3% $O_2$ but those of apples stored in 1% $O_2$ were not affected by $CO_2$(1, 3%) and temperature(0,\;$2^{\circ}C)$ differences. Above results suggest that the optimum CA storage condition of 'Fuji' apples is $0^{\circ}C,\;1%\;O_{2}+1%\;CO_2$.

External features of silkworms are not evident during stage of larvae and pupae like in the stage of imagines. In general, therefore, sexing of larvae has been depended on Herold's gland of males or Ishiwata' sexual spots (Anterior sexual spots and posterior sexual spots) of a female 2-3 days after of the 5th age since it is relatively easy to classify in this period. Sometimes. however, we made mistake of sexing since a pair of small spot around the abdomen of 9th abdominal of males and posterior sexual spot of females was found at the same position. This study has been conducted in order to obtain essential points of classifing the above it will be summarized as follows: A. Existence of the males small spots on 9th abdominal segment were varied by races. Through observation races by races the more larvae which had the small spots were found in chinese races than the Japanese, and 57 percent of the Chinese orgin larvae of the small spot were picked among total counted males. B. The small spots were more or less roundly shaped just as posterior sexual spots of females, and these spots were colored slightly even the colors were somewhat different by races. Milky color was seen in the case of the posterior sexual spots. The small spots were observed smaller than the posterior sexual spots. It is difficult classify the sexual spots during stage of mature larvae, but it was easily classified small spots by the naked eye even in the same stage. The small spots were found at the same site of the posterior sexual spots. C. After sexing by based on the small spots and Herold's gland, the sexing through purpae bodies were carried out again to confirm its correctness. Average 5. 2 percent of more opposite sex were found in the latter. This figures supposed to be caused the location of the small spots coincide with the posterior sexual spots. D. The moths, no disorder were found in daily activities and their generative functions depend on the existence of the small spot and thickness of its color. E. It is presumed that existence of the small spots were caused by races, heredity nature, voltinism, moulting, and etc.

Current study was conducted to investigate the effect of organic selenium supplementation originated from mushroom culture medium on meat quality of Hanwoo sleets. The result showed that organic selenium supplementation of 0.9 ppm (DM based ratio) for 2 (T1), 4 (T2) and 6 (T3) months had no effect on moisture content in longissimus muscle, with 63 to $66\%$ compared to non-supplemented control group Similarly, intramuscular fat content ranged from 11.7 to $16.4\%$ did not differ between the treatment groups (p>0.05). T3 group showed the highest protein content with $20.8\%$ while T2 group had the lowest content with $19.2\%$ The data indicated that organic selenium supplementation to the experimental concentration had indictable effect on proximate composition The treatments similarly had no influence on physical and biological characteristics of longissimus muscle, where cooking loss and shear force ranged from 20 to $21\%$ and from 3.6 to 4.4kg, respectively. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of different herb resource powders on meat quality and sensory properties in Korean native black goat for 500 d. The experimental treatment was arranged with 24 heads (3 treatment/8 heads) by control group, T1 and T2 group respectively (Control, not added herb powders; T1, 1% added herb powders; T2, 2% added herb powders). Total weight gain for the Korean native black goat was the highest in T2 group feeding for 500 days, and daily gain tended to be similar to the total weight gain. The total feed intake were the highest as 519.20 kg in T2 group, although feed conversion showed 18.35 in the T2 group, which means it had the best feed efficiency compared to the other treatment groups. The carcass rate was higher in the T1 group (51.10%) than in the other groups (p<0.05). The cooking loss and drip loss of Korean native black goat was the highest as 34.72% and 3.83% in the control group (p<0.05). However, total cholesterol amounts in the treatment group were not significantly different from, although tended to be higher than, the control group (p>0.05). Also, the overall sensory evaluation of the treatment group revealed low scores, meaning more meat flavor than those of the control in tenderness, flavor, texture, and black goat off-flavor and overall evaluation (p<0.05). Total synthesis evaluation was higher for the treatment group (3.71, 3.90 point) than that of the control group (4.82 point) (p<0.05). With petroleum being a major source of energy in Korea, the quantity of petroleum transported via ocean routes is on its way up due to increased consumption. Due to the increase, more than 300 cases of pollution caused by petroleum occur annually. Moreover, the number of oil-spill accidents is also on the rise. Causes of such accidents, not including the disposal of waste oil on purpose, turn out to be human error during navigation or defects in the vessels, showing that most accidents are caused by humans. Therefore, to prevent future oil spills, it is imperative that navigation efficiency be enhanced by improving the quality of navigators and replacing old vessels with newer ones. Nevertheless, such improvements cannot occur overnight, so long- and mid-term efforts should be made to achieve it institutionally. As large-scale oil-spill accidents can happen at anytime along the coastal waters of Korea, it is necessary to set-up institutional devices which go beyond the compensation limit of 92FC. The current special law regarding this issue has its limits in that it prescribes compensation be supplemented solely by national taxes. Therefore, the setting-up of a new 'national fund' is recommended for consideration rather than to subscribe to the '2003 Convention for the Supplementary Fund'. It is strongly suggested that a National fund be created from fees collected from oil companies based on the risks involved in oil transportation and according to the profiteers pay principle. In addition, a public fund should be created to handle general environmental damage, such as the large-scale destruction of the ecosystem, which is distinct from the economic damage that harms the local people. The posterior responses to the large-scale oil spill have always been unsatisfactory because of the symbolic nature of the disasters included in such accidents. Oil-spills can be prevented in advance, because they are caused by human beings. But once they occur, they inflict long-term damage to both human life and the natural ecosystem. Therefore, the best response to future oil-spills is to work to prevent them.

In this study, liquid calcium was used to develop a calcium-fortified soy sauce-based seasoning for meat and the quality characteristics of the seasoning and cooked meat were investigated. All seasonings with different amount of liquid calcium (0, 2, 4, or 8%) showed no significant changes in pH and titratable acidity at $4^{\circ}C$ for 9 days; however, the control seasoning and seasoning with 2% liquid calcium (Ca-2%) showed significant decreases in pH and increases in titratable acidity during storage at $20^{\circ}C$ for 9 days, compared to the seasoning with 4% (Ca-4%) and 8% (Ca-8%) liquid calcium. We also observed that during storage at $20^{\circ}C$, the numbers of total aerobic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, and yeast were significantly lower in Ca-4% and Ca-8% seasoning compared to the control or Ca-2%. The calcium contents in cooked meat seasoned with the control, Ca-2%, Ca-4%, or Ca-8% were 2.16, 33.47, 54.72, and 58.23 mg/100 g, respectively. Sensory evaluations demonstrated no significant differences in flavor, taste, juiciness, texture, and overall acceptability between the cooked meat samples. These results suggest that soy sauce seasoning supplemented with liquid calcium (2~8%) effectively increases the calcium content in cooked meat without adversely affecting its taste, flavor, and juiciness. Thus, this type of calcium-fortified seasoning may be helpful in combating the lack of calcium in modern diets.
