  • This study, As a result of the SPSS WIN 12.0 analysis, significant results were obtained the relationship between tooth brushing behaviors and oral health status of college students (domestic and overseas). If age was 20-23 years old and women were high the correct toothbrushing behaviors. If domestic students was higher in more than 3times toothbrushing, toothbrushing after lunch, toothbrushing, toothbrush replacement within 3months, toothbrush more than 3, received toothbrushing education. Decayed Teeth index is higher if foreign student, toothbrushing after lunch and receive toothbrushing education is 'no', consider selecting toothpaste. Filled Teeth index is higher if the 20-23 years old, female, domestic students, more than 3times toothbrushing, toothbrushing after lunch and receive toothbrushing education is 'no'. Missing Teeth index is the lowest if 20-23 years, toothbrush replacement within 3months. Results were analyzed by multiple regression Y(Decayed Teeth index)=4.541-1.074((Female)+2.359(foreign students). Therefore, this should be made systematic training on proper toothbrushing behavior to improve the oral health of university students.

This study used the data of the 6th 3nd-year(2015) National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The dependent variables of this study were reviewed for serious dental diseases, and the independent variables were divided into demographic characteristics, health status and behavior, oral health status, and behavior. The results of study were as follow. Factors influencing dental caries was household income(p<.01), health checkups(p<.05), experience of toothache for the recent 1 year(p<.05), and whether to use oral hygiene devices(p<.05). Factors influencing periodontal disease was age(p<.05), occupation(p<.05), and whether to Comorbidity(p<.05). Based on these results, a political alternative plan will need to be arranged for promoting oral health in the aged as a relevant research is vitalized.

  • This study was performed to identify the relationship between scaling behaviors and knowledge about scaling and oral health belief of worker, and to provide baseline data for developing industry oral health policy. The survey had conducted self-administered questionnaires by 326 workers in Gyeongsan and Yeongcheon areas in Gyeongbuk province. Their scaling behaviors, knowledge and oral health belief were measured. The results were as follow; The average score of knowledge about scaling was 6.44. The average oral health belief was 2.72. In detail, 'usefulness' was 3.24 as the highest and 'seriousness' was 2.25 as the lowest. The periodic scaling and scaling cycle were associated with 'seriousness' and 'barrier' as positive correlation(p<.05, .01). On the other hand, they were associated with knowledge and 'usefulness' as negative correlation(p<.01). Meanwhile, scaling motive showed positive correlation with 'cue of action'(p<.01), showed negative correlation with knowledge(p<.01). In the correlation between knowledge about scaling and oral health belief, knowledge showed negative correlation with 'barrier'(p<.01) and showed positive correlation with 'usefulness'(p<.01). Finally, we need to advertise and manage the importance of scaling politically and makes people do the voluntary scaling in six-month intervals in order to keep the periodontal health of worker.

  • In this study we conducted a questionnaire survey by purposive quota sampling(n=566) by status of workers(permanent workers, temporary workers and business owners) and age group(20-59 years old) for single households engaged in economic activities in order to compare the health behaviors and health checking by employment type and age. By employment type, the sleep time of permanent workers was significantly less than that of other groups(p<0.001), and the rates of health and oral examinations in permanent workers were significantly higher(p<0.001). By age group, as the age increased, the oral condition was worse(p<0.001), but the rates of not taking oral examinations were significantly higher(p=0.023). This study can be meaningful as basic data for making a healthy living environment according to various characteristics of single households.

  • This study aimed to examine the relation between subjective oral hygiene status of the elderly and oral health impact profile and to present it as basic data for the improvement of quality of life and oral care. The study subjects were 231 elderly people aged 65 and over. This study measured the oral health behavior and subjective oral hygiene status based on cross analysis by calculating the median of OHIP-14 to divide the above-median group into a subgroup and the below-median group into a superordinate group. Correlation and regression analyses were performed to examine the effects on the oral health impact profile. The oral health impact profile according to oral health behaviors was not significant. The oral health impact profile based on the subjective oral hygiene states is currently affected by oral hygiene status, masticatory problems, toothache, xerostomia and halitosis. As a result of regression analysis to confirm the effect on the oral health impact profile, much experience of masticatory problems, toothache, xerostomia and gum diseases is the most influential. This shows that the subjective oral hygiene status is not healthy as the oral health impact profile is high. It is considered necessary to establish an oral health promotion program to improve the quality of life of the elderly and active oral care methods in the future.

  • This study used raw data from the 2013-2015 National Health and Nutrition Survey, and conducted a multivariate logistic regression analysis to identify factors related to teeth extraction from Korean elderly aged 65 and older (4.037). As a result, the risk of tooth extraction was 1.84 times higher in males, 1.52 times in age 75 or older, 2.36 times higher in income, 2.04 times higher in income, and 1.44 times higher in smokers. The results were statistically significant as 1.49 times without oral examination and 2.30 times without dental treatment for 1 year. Through this, the current health behavior and oral health behavior can reinforce the basis of risk factors related to the need for tooth extraction. At the national level, we need to look for diversification.

Methods : The subjects were 4,600 workers working at a industrial place in North Gyeongsang Province, data were collected from July 13, 2010 to September 12, 2010. using the results of the subjects medical check-ups and Oral examinations, this study was performed. collected data included workers general characteristics, job characteristics, and smoking, drinking, exercise behavior as lifestyle factors, and waist measurement, fasting blood sugar level, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, the level of Triglyceride and HDL-cholesterol as metabolic syndrome risk factor indicator. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square test, correlation analysis, logistic regression using SPSS 18.0. Results : In results of the subjects medical check-ups, 14.1% were above the criterion value of waist measurement, 2.5% fasting blood sugar level, 8.5% hypertension, 16.8% Triglyceride level and 4.0% HDL-cholesterol respectively. according to oral examination results, showing that 43.3% inflammation of the gums. The inflammation of the gums was correlated with gender, age, dental clinic visit, scaling management, smoking, exercise behavior and high triglyceride level and hypertension of metabolic syndrome risk factor indicators. In addition, this result was statistically significant. Conclusions : Based on this study, the workers health should be managed actively and effectively by using periodical workers health check-ups. At a corporate level, the institutional supports were achieved and arranged for activation of regular oral health education programs, and the prevention plan of metabolic syndrome were needed for changing exercise behavior by conducting suitable exercise programs.
