This study investigates convergent factors related with communication competency of some health majors students in studying for TOEIC. The questionnaire was used using an unregistered self-administered questionnaire for 280 health majors students in TOEIC class from college located in J area from November 1, 2018 to November 30, 2018. The hierarchical multiple regression analysis shows the following results. The communication competency of respondents turned out to be significantly higher in following groups: a group in which ego-resilience is higher, a group in which inkling is higher, and a group in which self-leadership is higher. The results show explanatory power of 57.0%. The results of the study indicate that the efforts, to increase ego-resilience, inkling and self-leadership are required to improve the communication competency among health majors students in studying for TOEIC. These results can be used to develop and operate educational resources and support programs that improve communication competency of health majors students in studying for TOEIC. Future research requires presentation and analysis of structural models considering factors affecting communication competency and correlation with TOEIC scores of health majors students in studying for TOEIC.
The present study attempted to identify how the knowledge and risk perception of nursing students regarding COVID-19 impact COVID-19 preventive behaviors. This study collected data from May 1st to September 20th, 2021, using a self-reported questionnaire targeting 184 nursing students. The collected data were analyzed using Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Multiple regression. The research results indicated that the knowledge(r=.15, p=.019) and risk perception(r=.13, p=.036) of nursing students regarding COVID-19 had a positive correlation with COVID-19 preventive behaviors. The factor that impacted the COVID-19 preventive behaviors of the subjects was COVID-19 knowledge, which had an explanatory power of 4%. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an educational intervention program that enables nursing students to obtain the correct knowledge regarding COVID-19 and improves preventive behaviors.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effects of depression, academic helplessness, and smartphone addiction tendency in the relationship between self-esteem and grit of adolescents. Data from the 2018 (first-year) Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey were used in this study. The subjects of this study were 1,375 male and 1,166 female students in seventh grade school. The multiple mediation model analysis was conducted using the SPSS and PROCESS macro program. The results of this study are as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between self-esteem and grit, while self-esteem and grit had negative correlations with depression, academic helplessness, smartphone addiction. Second, it was found that the relationship between self-esteem and grit was mediated by depression, academic helplessness, and smartphone addiction tendency, respectively, and furthermore, it was found that all pathways mediated sequentially were also significant. These results suggest that education and intervention considering self-esteem, depression, academic helplessness, and smartphone addiction to be useful as a way to help adolescents develop interest in specific goals and continue their efforts in these days when smartphone use is common.
The purpose of this study was to categorize conflict resolution by exploring the conflict experiences of the elderly who participate in jobs for the elderly to create an elderly-friendly village. This study applied grounded theory, a qualitative research method, For data collection, a FGI was conducted by sampling 5 elderly job participants in ◯◯-dong, ◯◯-gu, Seoul. The data were analyzed according to the paradigm model of Strauss & Corbin(1998). As a result of the analysis, causal conditions were social, economic, psychological and physical motivations for participation and contextual conditions were economic difficulties, social disconnection, and differences in life experiences influenced the initiation of conflict. The core phenomena were conflict initiated by 'the difference between experience and role' and 'the difference in psychosocial relationship skills', and the intervention condition were the activation of interpersonal relationships through communication to resolve the conflict, social integration through the use of capabilities, It appeared as a regular social activities. The interaction strategy emerged as a strategy for resolving conflict for senior citizen jobs through education, mutual support for building trust, and successful senior-friendly village program operation. The consequences, it was found that job conflicts for the elderly were alleviated by finding one's life, activating community exchanges, increasing a sense of achievement, and growing a sense of community. In conclusion, the conflict resolution types for senior citizens were classified into educational solution type, mutual support solution type, and success experience solution type.
This study aimed to examine perception of disaster, attitude toward disaster and competency of disaster nursing in nurses of long-term care hospitals and determine correlations between these factors. The study sampled 123 nurses at seven long-term care hospitals in G metropolitan city and J province. The data collection period was from February 15 to April 30, 2021. The results showed that when the nurse is a head nurse or above (F=3.89, p=.023), has a total career length of 20 years or more (F=5.34, p=.002), and has received disaster nursing education (t=3.87, p<.001), participant's competency of disaster nursing is significantly high. In addition, competency of disaster nursing was found to have no significant correlation with perception of disaster but a statistically significant negative correlation with attitude toward disaster. The study findings suggest that a practice oriented disaster nursing education is required as an intervention program, along with improving the competency of disaster nursing in nurses of care hospitals. Therefore, the study results are expected to be utilized as basic data for improving the competency of disaster nursing of nurses at long-term care hospitals.
This study was performed to utilize for foundation data of research related nursing communication and developing nursing intervention by examining the relationship between nurses' perception of the elderly and communication. This study is a descriptive research using a set of questionnaires that examines the relationship between nurses who provide care to the elderly by confirming their perception of the elderly, communication difficulties with the elderly, communication behavior, and satisfaction with communication. After IRB approval, data were collected either face-to-face survey or by online survey. A total of 292 nurses participated in this study. The collected data were analyzed as descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA, Duncan test and Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, Multiple Regression Analysis by using SPSS/WIN 26 program. As a result, a significant correlation was identified between perception of the elderly and communication disorders, communication behavior, and communication satisfaction. We found that nurses who had more positive perceptions about the elderly had less communication disorders, better communication behaviors, and higher communication satisfaction with the elderly. From this result, we suggest that nurses caring for the elderly should receive education on communication methods with elderly to improve their perception. Furthermore, we suggest future studies to improve nurse's perception of the elderly and communication.
The aim of this study was to explain the mediating effects of self-control in the relationship between academic stress and impulse buying tendency. Participants were recruited from one nursing university student located in Gwangju and J city. Data were collected from 145 nursing university student. The SPSS WIN 23.0 version was used with Sobel test and Baron and Kenny's mediating effect. It was investigated whether there was a mediating effect of self-control on academic stress and impulse buying tendency. First, academic stress showed a significant effect on impulse buying tendency. Second, Self-control had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between academic stress and impulse buying tendency(z=-2.69, p<.001). To reduce the impulse buying tendency among nursing university student, it is necessary to develop education·non-education interventions that promotion self-control in addition to decreasing academic stress.

Currently, the number of Long-Term Care Hospital in Korea is continuously increasing with the increase in the elderly population. Patients admitted to Long-Term Care Hospital are mainly elderly with chronic diseases, and because they are for long-term care, they often die in Long-Term Care Hospital, and the importance of end-of-life care is gradually increasing. In spite of these characteristics Studies on end-of-life care for nurses in Long-Term Care Hospital are mainly quantitative studies, and there is a limit to in-depth understanding of end-of-life care experiences. Therefore, The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of Long-Term Care Hospital nurses' nursing experienceof end-of-life patients through a phenomenological method, and to describe and understand the meaning of the phenomenon in depth. The subjects of this study were 7 nurses who had worked for more than 6 months at a nursing hospital located in C city. The research method was in-depth interviews, and data were collected from December 2021 to March 2022. The interview date were analyzed by Giorgi's phenomenological method. As a result of the study, 'nurses' attitude toward end-of-life care', 'ambivalence toward life prolongation', 'reality of end-of-life care in Long-Term Care Hospital', and 'reflection on life and death' were found. Therefore, it is thought that End-of-life nursing Continuing educationand interventional education programs should be developed to change Long-Term Care Hospital nurses' end-of-life care attitudes and improve coping skills.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of therapeutic listening on task performance, auditory behavior problems, and attention in children with sensory modulation disorder. Methods : Sixteen children aged four to seven years who were classified as children with sensory modulation disorder were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n = 8) or the control group (n = 8). From July 1 to October 18, 2017, both groups participated in sensory integration programs, while therapeutic listening training was administered only to the experimental group. Sensory integration therapy was conducted in two sessions per week for six weeks (12 sessions); each session consisted of 40 minutes of therapy and 10 minutes of parent education. Therapeutic listening was conducted in three thirty-minute sessions per week for six weeks (18 sessions). We used the Canadian Occupation Performance Measure (COPM) to evaluate changes in the participants' occupational performance between pre- and post-intervention. We used Fisher's Auditory Problems Checklist (FAPC) to observe changes in behavioral problems related to hearing. The Child Attention Scale for Teacher (CAST) was used to evaluate changes in attention. Results : No significant differences pre- and post-intervention between the two groups were observed. The participants' auditory behavioral problems improved significantly in the experimental group, but no significant difference was found between the two groups. There was no significant difference in attention between the two groups, but there was a significant difference between the two groups in the "adaptability" and "emotion" domains (p < .05). Conclusion : The results suggest that therapeutic listening training has a positive effect on reducing problematic behaviors related to hearing and improving the occupational performance of children with sensory modulation disorder. This study provides a basis for improving the sensory processing ability of children with sensory modulation disorder by applying listening training in the clinical field and at home.
Purpose: To provide the basic data in developing the nursing intervention for patients who have symptoms of insomnia after undergoing hemopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). This was achieved through investigating sleep quality and sleep patterns according to admission time, and discharge time. Methods: Data was put together by studying 52 HSCT patients who have been admitted to the department of HSCT from August 2002 to August 2003, in a university hospital. Research instruments used were, PSQI for sleep quality and a specified questionnaire for sleep patterns. Results: The PSQI regarding the past mono which was measured at the last day of hospitalization, was 11.8. This was significantly higher than 5.3, which was a measurement for the past month before the hospitalization (t=11.41, P=0.000). Looking at it with 7 categories-quality of sleep, consistency of sleep, sleep period, effectiveness of sleep, sleeping disorder, usage of sleeping pills, impediment of daily life- the PSQI for a month after admission increased significantly compared to the rate measured for a month before admission. Comparing the subjects sleep pattern before and after admission, it showed a significant difference regarding time attending sleep, time it takes to sleep, wake-up time, total time of sleep, day time sleep, number of times waking up during sleep, number of usage of sleeping pills, actions that are taken during sleep disorder, reasons for insomnia. Conclusion: The PSQI score of patients who undergo hemopoietic stem cell transplantation have increased significantly after hospitalization. Compared to the change of sleep patterns when hospitalized, significant changes were observed. Therefore nursing interventions addressing sleep are needed.
