Introducing on Automatic Check-Out and Bookshelf System of Public Libraries by Japanese Case Study (일본 사례연구를 통한 공공도서관의 자동화 출납서가시스템 도입방안)

  • Characteristics of Japanese public library recently has been changed to mutual networking between libraries, complex use of data, and long stay of users. Such change requires new service and contents. Also, in Korea, it is circumstance that interest of library's contents rise politically. And under government leading by BTL project, various libraries are increasing all over the country fast such as public library, extension of existing school library and the small library, etc. In this research, space composition of library, automatic check-out & bookshelf system, and mutual networking between libraries was analyzed by selected 3 libraries (central library of Chiba city, Tomisato and Ichigawa city library) of Chiba area and find applicable contents to our library system.

Progress and Future Tasks of Korean Health Promoting Schools (한국형 건강증진학교 추진 경과와 향후 과제)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this review is to introduce the progress of health promoting schools in Korea and future tasks. Method: From 2009 to 2018, we reviewed the literature on health promotion schools in Korea conducted by the Ministry of Education Results: Over the past decade, Korean health promoting schools have operated from a minimum of 14 schools to a maximum of 98 schools each year. As a result of the effectiveness evaluation, it was found that the students had a positive influence not only on the health behavior but also on the whole school life. Under the organic cooperation of the Ministry of Education, the Office of Education, the Korean Educational Development Institute and the schools, consulting, provision of educational opportunities for teachers, promotion of good practices, and public relations support systems for generalization are well established. Conclusion: Promotion and support system for Korean health promoting schools are already well established. Nevertheless, there are limitations on the universalization of health promoting schools, so various attempts such as introduction of certification system should be continued to overcome them.

Change and Characteristics of Interactions in a Heterogeneous Group in Scientific Inquiry Experiments (이질 모둠이 수행한 과학탐구실험 과정에서 상호작용의 변화와 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the change and characteristics of interactions in a heterogeneous group in scientific inquiry experiments. For this purpose, the process of students' interactions in small group activities were analyzed. This study focused on two, small heterogeneous groups of eighth graders. Students were involved in 13 scientific inquiry experiments for one year and students' interactions in each experiments were observed and recorded using video/audio and the data recorded were transcribed. The analysis of data was based on the method of making a note by looking and listening to the data repeatedly. Students' interactions in heterogeneous group changed toward that 3A (early formal operation student solved the problems by oneself and other students only listened to 3A student's explanation or copied the answer. The least able student was alienated from peers' interactions. In the meantime, new interactions of two middle level students were shaped. Educational implications of the progression of activities emphasizing interactions and the organization of grouping were drawn.

Teacher's Practice of Activity Materials in the Housing Area of Middle School Technology & Home Economics Textbook (중학교 교사의 기술.가정 주생활영역 활동자료 활용실태)

  • The year of 2007 Reformed Curriculum encourages various activity materials in the textbook facilitate students oriented self-help learning. The purpose of this paper is to find out how much the activity materials in housing area of middle school Technology and Home Economics are practiced in the class and why they are used or not used. The data were collected from 253 middle school teachers who had ever taught the housing unit in any of 6 textbooks. The analyses indicated that the most frequent teaching methode was lecture based on the textbook and internet data focused on the figures and contents of the individual textbook. The average rate of practicing the activity materials was differ by textbooks and the characteristics of the materials such as type of materials, feature of non sentence materials, and type of activity. The main two reasons to practice the activity materials were it's adequacy to class goals and application to everyday life. Low interests of students and shortage of time were the two main reasons why not used the materials. Textbook writers should consider these reasons as well as the characteristics of activity materials practiced in the class by the teachers in order to meet the goals of the reformed as well as current curricula.

A Development of Recommendations to Promote Maker Education at the Korean Primary & Secondary School Level in Korea through Analysis of Global Maker Education Best Practices (해외 메이커교육 우수 사례 분석을 통한 국내 초·중등 메이커교육 활성화를 위한 방안 도출)

  • In global advanced countries, various efforts about maker education with maker-space into the formal education has been made. However, in Korea, the physical infrastructure and instructional supports for the maker education in connection with K-12 curriculum are insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to suggest how to promote maker education in domestic K-12 education field by examining best practices of maker education in the globe. To achieve the objective, 7 best practices, which consist of 3 cases led by a government-driven policy, 2 cases initiated by world-class universities, and 2 cases made by international schools, are examined and analyzed. As a result, the recommendations to integrate and promote maker education into the K-12 school level in Korea in terms of 3 different perspectives, the policies which government should consider, the efforts and considerations the institutions should be made, and the roles teachers and instructors play were drawn.

  • This study aims to explore the applicability of the HyFlex Learning Model as a new form of early childhood education in the post-COVID-19 era. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, first, the current challenges of early childhood education and the form of early childhood distance education in Korea were examined. Second, after examining the outline and characteristics of the HyFlex Learning Model(HLM) and the application cases of overseas institutions, in particular, the cases of applying the HLM in overseas early childhood education institutions were reviewed. Third, things to consider when applying the HLM in the field of early childhood education in Korea were derived. As a result, the HLM was investigated to be applicable not only in higher education but also in early childhood education as a model that emphasizes the learner's choice, learner-centered/directed, and activity. In order to apply the HLM to the early childhood education field in Korea, several points to be considered were proposed. Finally, the contribution of this study and further study were suggested.

A Study on the Effectiveness of the Book Delivery and Reading Program for Vulnerable Children: Focusing on the Case of Library A in Gyeonggi-do (취약계층 어린이를 위한 책 배달, 책 읽어주기 프로그램의 효과에 관한 연구 - 경기도 A시 도서관 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This study analyzed the effectiveness of visiting reading programs for vulnerable children, focusing on the case of libraries in A-si, Gyeonggi-do. Library A utilized a visiting teacher to deliver books that matched the children's levels and interests through non-face-to-face interactions, or to engage in face-to-face reading sessions and deliver books together. In 2022, a total of 158 individuals from 103 families participated in the program, with 103 individuals from 67 families delivering books and 55 individuals from 36 families engaging in book reading activities. Pre- and post-project surveys were conducted to assess the reading effects, and interviews were conducted with the visiting teachers. The analysis revealed that the level and interest of the children during book delivery and reading sessions were identified, and the effects of reading books with high levels of interaction were significant. Infants who were able to easily acquire reading experiences according to their age exhibited better reading effects compared to elementary school students. The program aimed at the new participant group showed slightly greater effectiveness than the group of continuing participants. Furthermore, following the implementation of the program, improvements were observed in reading interest, reading attitude, reading environment, reading interaction, self-esteem, social skills, language ability, reading proficiency, self-directed learning ability, and library utilization rate.

Exploring Collaborative Learning Dynamics in Science Classes Using Google Docs: An Epistemic Network Analysis of Student Discourse (공유 문서를 활용한 과학 수업에서 나타난 학생 담화의 특징 -인식 네트워크 분석(ENA)의 활용-)

  • This study analyzed students' discourse and learning to investigate the impact of using Google Docs in science classes. The researcher, who is also a science teacher, conducted classes for 49 second-year middle school students. The classes included one using Google Docs and another using traditional paper worksheets covering identical content. Students' discourse collected from each class was compared and analyzed using Epistemic Network Analysis (ENA). The findings indicated that in the class using Google Docs, the proportion of discourse related to task was higher compared to the traditional class. More specifically, discourse regarding taking and uploading photos was prominent. However, such discourse did not lead to peer learning as intended by the teacher. An analysis based on achievement levels revealed that the class utilizing Google Docs had a relatively higher proportion of discourse from lower-achieving students. Additionally, differences were observed in the types of utterances and connection structures between the higher and lower-achieving students. The higher-achieving students took a leading role in providing suggestions and explanations, while the lower-achieving students played a role in transcribing them, with this tendency being more pronounced in the class using Google Docs. Lastly, students' changes in perception regarding the cause of static electricity were visualized using ENA. Based on the research findings, this study proposes strategies to enhance collaborative learning using Google Docs, including the use of open-ended problems to allow diverse opinions and outputs, and exploring the potential use of ENA to assess the learning effects of conceptual learning.

Localization of Text-development on Regional Learning in Social Studies (사회과 지역학습 교재개발의 지역적 적합화 연구 -경남 산청과 충남 서산의 지역학습을 사례로-)

  • Regional learning in social studies has an important educational meaning in that it is a tabloid edition of social studies and it also satisfies the regionalization of national curriculum. Social studies in Korea have mainly been led by the social study curriculum of elementary school. But the local textbook which was currently used in elementary school is structured in a negative meaning of regionalization rather than positive one. It is suggested in this study that the regional learning of social studies in middle school should be pursued by the co-work of teachers and students. For this purpose, the theoretical and practical processes to develop the local textbook are compared between two distinctive localities such as Sancheong and Seosan. At first, the relative ratio among the six strands is decided to develop several themes for regional learning, considering the landscape, region-related discourses and ecological environments in each region. Secondly, several themes are extracted to organize the contents of local textbook in each region. Lastly, examples of content-organization are suggested in each region. The processes above are just an example of content-organization, not a fixed one. The process, themes extracted, and the content-organization for each region may be changed according to the school location, local situation, and the quality of classroom.

수학적 창의성과 개방형 문제(open ended problem)

  • 제7차 교육과정의 기본방향인 '21세기의 세계화 정보화 시대를 주도할 자율적이고 창의적인 한국인 육성'에서 볼 수 있듯이, 새로운 교육과정에서는 학생들의 창의력을 신장시키기 위한 방안으로 교과별 교육과정이나 재량활동 운영 등을 제시한 바 있다. 수학교육에서도 이러한 시대적 흐름에 발맞추어 수학적 창의력의 신장이 강조되고 있는 상황이다. 그동안 이론적인 측면과 실제적인 측면에서 수학적 창의성에 대한 성과가 축적되었다. 이론적인 측면에서 볼 때, Haylock(1987)등에 의해 창의력과 수학적 창의력의 구분되었으며, 특히 '수학적' 창의력에 대한 다양한 정의가 제안되었다. 실제적인 측면에서도 수학적 창의력을 측정하려는 평가 도구들이 그 동안 여러 가지로 개발하였다. 그러나, 이러한 수학적 창의력에 관한 전반적인 연구는 종국적으로 교실 수학수업에 반영되어야 함에도 불구하고, 그리 만족스럽지 못한 상황이다. 특히, 교실에서 수학수업을 실제로 담당하는 교사들이 수학적 창의력을 위한 수업을 하고자 하더라도 당장 가까이에서 구할 수 있는 교수 학습 자료가 여전히 부족한 상황이다. 물론 그 동안 교실 수학수업에서 사용할 수 있는 창의력 개발 프로그램이 전무한 것은 아니다. 그런데 그들 대부분은 게임이나 퍼즐을 이용한 것으로 그 수준이 단순 흥미유발에 그치고 있거나 소수의 영재아를 위한 소재를 중심으로, 특히 수학적 사고 과정을 따르기보다는, 시행착오를 거쳐 원하는 결과를 얻을 가능성이 많으며, 수학과의 연계성이 불분명한 채로 단순놀이에 그치는 경우가 적지 않아, 수업과 연관되어 창의력의 신장이라는 측면에서 볼 때, 적용하기 어려운 사례가 많다. 이러한 상황을 개선하는 데 기여하고자, 현재 교과교육공동연구 지원사업의 하나로 한국 학술 진흥재단의 지원을 받아, '개방형 문제(open-ended problems)'를 중심 소재로 한 '수학적 창의성'을 신장하기 위한 교수학습 프로그램을 개발하여, 중학교 1학년을 대상으로 연구를 진행하고 있다. 개방형 문제라 함은 명백한 정의가 어렵지만 Pehkeon(1995)는 개방형문제의 정의를 명백히 하기위한 시도로서 그 반대로 닫힌 문제에 대한 정의로부터 시작하여, 어떤 문제가 닫혀있다고 하는 것은 그 문제의 출발 상황과 목표 상황이 닫혀 있는 것, 즉 명백히 설명되어있을 때라면 개방형 문제는 이와 반대의 개념임을 시사하였다. Silver(1995)는 개방형 문제를 문제 자체가 다른 해석이 가능하거나 서로 다를 인정할만한 답을 가질 수 있는 문제 또는 풀이과정이 다양한 문제, 자연스럽게 다른 문제들을 제안하거나 일반화를 제시할 수 있는 문제라고 정의하였다. 따라서 개방형 문제란 출발상황이나 목표 상황의 일부가 닫혀있지 않을 때를 말하고 문제의 조건을 만족하는 해답이 여러 가지로 존재하는 문제를 뜻한다. 수학적 창의력을 개발하는 데, 다른 문제 유형보다도, 개방형 문제가 유리하다는 점은 이미 여러 학자들에 의해 주장되어왔다. 미국 국립영재교육센터(NRCG/T)는 기존의 사지선다형이나 단답형 문제와 질문들은 학생들의 사고 능력에 관한 정보를 거의 알려주지 못하기 때문에 한 가지 이상의 답을 요구하는 ‘open-ended' 또는 ’open-response' 문제와 질문을 가지고 수학 분야에서의 창의적 사고 능력과 표현능력을 측정해야 한다고 하였고, 개방형 문제가 일반적으로 정답이 하나인 문제보다 고차원적인 사고를 요구하게 하는 문제 형태라고 하였다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 근거를 바탕으로 개방형 문제의 유형을 다양한 답이 존재하는 문제, 다양한 해결 전략이 가능한 문제, 답이 없는 문제, 문제 만들기, 일반화가 가능한 문제 등으로 보고, 수학적 창의성 중 특히 확산적 사고에 초점을 맞추어 개방형 문제가 확산적 사고의 요소인 유창성, 독창성, 유연성 등에 각각 어떤 영향을 미치는지 20주의 프로그램을 개발, 진행하여 그 효과를 검증하고자 한다. 개방형 문제를 활용한 수학적 창의력 신장 프로그램을 개발하고 현장 학교에 실험 적용하여 그 효과를 분석하고자 하는 본 연구는 창의력 신장에 비중을 두는 수학과 교수-학습 과정에 실제적인 교수 학습 자료를 제공하는 것뿐만 아니라 교사들에게는 수학교실에서 사용 가능한 실제적인 활용방안을, 학생들에게는 주어진 문제를 여러 가지 각도에서 생각하면서 다양한 사고를 경험하는 기회를 가질 수 있어, 수학을 보는 학생들의 태도에도 긍정적인 변화를 가져올 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.
