  • Informatics textbooks for elementary school students have been developed by cities, provinces, and private publishers respectively, and instructional objectives differ depending on the textbook selected by each school. Therefore, discussion on the analysis of instructional objectives is highly needed. The purpose of this study is to develop standards of instructional objectives for Informatics textbooks in elementary school based on the analysis of instructional objectives. To do so, first, an analysis frame was made based on preceding studies for instructional objectives. Second, instructional objectives of current Informatics textbooks were analyzed. Finally, standards of instructional objectives were developed applying Delphi method. It is expected that the standards of instructional objectives suggested here will be referred to as a guideline for developing the curricula and textbooks for Informatics subject in elementary school and to contribute to the normalization of production for qualified textbooks and education in Informatics subject in the future.

  • This study analyzed high school informatics textbooks that were developed based on the 2015 Revised National Curriculum. Content analysis was adopted to analyze the organization system of the textbooks. Learning objectives were also analyzed according to Anderson's taxonomy of educational objectives. Through content analysis, it was revealed that the textbooks were composed of activities, differentiated learning, and small group learning to promote core competencies. The analysis of learning objectives of the textbooks showed that 'understanding' (41%), 'developing' (20%), and 'applying' (18%) were the three highest criteria in terms of cognitive processes; in terms of type of knowledge, conceptual knowledge accounts for the highest(45%), followed by procedural (32%), and factual (12%). Further methods to improve the textbook quality is proposed based on the results from this analysis.

  • This study is an analytical study on textbooks of , which was first presented in the 2015 revised high school mathematics curriculum. The textbook has a very high educational significance in that it is the first textbook developed for students majoring in economics. Analyzing whether these textbooks faithfully follow the spirit of the curriculum is an essential study for nurturing creative and convergent human beings and for personal self-realization. Therefore, in this study, a consistency analysis was conducted to determine whether the textbook fits the textbook development direction suggested by the curriculum developer and is appropriate for the state-approved mathematics curriculum. As a result of analysis, the contents of the textbook did not partially meet these criteria and lacked consistency. In conclusion, it is necessary to prepare more thorough standards for the examination and recognition of high school elective courses in the future.

  • In this paper, we research into an effective operation environment of digital textbook according to the adaption of an electronic textbook and analyze the approval program and the authorization program of the paper textbook for the efficient utility of a digital textbook. We propose various criterions and methods of the approval and authorization program. Finally, we show the whole process of the proposed approval and authorization program. We hope that our study apply to the standard approval and authorization program of the Ministry of Education.

  • In order to improve the quality of textbooks, this study analyzed seven informatics textbooks published based on the 2015 revised curriculum. Content analysis was used to analyze the organization system of these textbooks. Learning objectives of the textbooks were also analyzed according to Anderson's taxonomy of educational objectives. Furthermore, a textbook satisfaction survey, in which textbook selection criteria were applied, was given out to preliminary teachers. The results showed that the textbooks were similarly organized, centered on practice, activities, differentiated learning, and small group learning. However, the number of pages varies considerably for each chapter. After analyzing learning objectives of the textbooks, it was found that in terms of cognitive processes, 'understanding' (53%) was the highest item and 'analyzing' (16%) the second highest; in terms of type of knowledge, 'conceptual' (42%) and 'procedural' (31%) accounted for the two highest categories; in terms of cognitive domains, there has been a significant increase in 'analyzing' and 'creating' facets for learning objectives of these new versions of textbooks as compared to those of previously existed textbooks. In the satisfaction survey on a 5-point Likert scale, 'the accuracy and fairness of the content' had the highest points at 4.21 among four scale items. In this study, the improvement of the textbook is proposed based on the findings from this analysis.

  • The aim of this study is to survey the process in which the curriculum standards of 'library and information life' are implemented as textbooks and to find implications for improving of textbook publication. In the development process of accredited textbooks, it is essential for the curriculum standards and textbooks to align, both in form and content. 『Library and Information Life』(2011) are recognized textbooks systematically developed based on curriculum standards. To this end, the level of response to the numbers of 'topic' in the curriculum standard and the numbers of 'midle unit' in the textbook was identified. As a result, elementary and middle school textbooks exhibited a "one-to-many" response level, where one topic spanned approximately around two middle units, while high school textbook tended to have a "many-to-one" response level, converging two topics into one middle unit. In the case of elementary schools, the curriculum standard follows a single content-system, whereas textbooks are developed separately for lower and higher-grade levels. Therefore, some adjustments, such as curriculum content and subject titles, need to be considered for each elementary school level.

  • We must know computer terms to use, learn, and understand efficiently. It is important for the elementary school students who learn computer for the first time to understand computer terms correctly. This study investigates a computer terms in the elementary school computer textbook which have been used currently at the elementary school, selects suitable computer terms for the elementary school student, analyzes and classifies them as a 1 2th grade, a 3 4th grade, 5 6th grade by the elementary school computer curriculum, and also classifies those as information ethics, computer basic, application software, computer communication by the category. The expectations of this study are as follows. First, the result of this offers teacher to a computer terms guidance for usability which is essential to elementary school's computer class. Second, this can be used as a reference in making a elementary computer textbook or studying and training textbook for teachers. Third, this offers teachers to an important criteria when they select a computer textbook for elementary student in elementary school.

  • Computer and Information Literacy(CIL) is one of Key Competences in 21st century. Many countries, including Korea, have adopted related contents in their national curriculum for conducting software education. With this movement, many book-type instruction materials for software education have been developed in Korea. However, it is scarce to find researches that evaluate the instruction materials from the perspective of CIL. In this study, we selected 4 instruction materials which were distributed by government with 'SW centered society' web site as well as were developed to teach physical computing for elementary students. Also, we analyzed if they can foster students' CIL. First of all, the evaluation framework was developed based on 'The Manual for Authorized and Approved Textbook' and 'The 2018 ICILS(International Computer and Information Literacy Study) Assessment Framework'. Then, 12 school teachers who have professional insight of software education evaluated the 4 instruction materials with the framework. Averaging the score given by evaluators, we determined that which instruction materials were superior or not. Finally, we figured out the characteristics of superior and inferior instructional materials. Based on the results of this study, we suggested implications for developing instruction materials for physical computing education to build students' CIL.
