Intrusion Detection System using Pattern Classification with Hashing Technique (패턴분류와 해싱기법을 이용한 침입탐지 시스템)

  • Computer and network security has recently become a popular subject due to the explosive growth of the Internet Especially, attacks based on malformed packet are difficult to detect because these attacks use the skill of bypassing the intrusion detection system and Firewall. This paper designs and implements a network-based intrusion detection system (NIDS) which detects intrusions with malformed-packets in real-time. First, signatures, rules in NIDS like Snouts rule files, are classified using similar properties between signatures NIDS creates a rule tree applying hashing technique based on the classification. As a result the system can efficiently perform intrusion detection.

  • 최근 사물 인터넷 관련 해킹 우려 신고 건수가 증가하는 추세를 보이고 있다. 하지만 급격하게 늘어나는 IoT 환경에 따라서 관리자가 새로운 침입 탐지 공격패턴을 인식하는 것에 대한 어려움이 있으며, 대량의 공격이나 새로운 공격패턴이 등장할 경우 이에 맞는 특징을 재선정해야 할 경우도 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 운영 네트워크 상에 특정이상동작 파악 및 근원지 진단을 위한 목적을 가진 전반적인 네트워크 상태 분석 및 사용자 이슈 식별이 가능한 프레임워크를 설계하였다.

Factors Influencing Research Collaboration in the Field of Informetrics (연구자 협업의 영향 요인에 관한 연구: 계량정보학 분야를 중심으로)

  • The collaboration is becoming ever more widespread in scientific research. Unlike collaboration in other areas such as in a company, research collaboration has an unique feature that it is reflected by scholars' characteristics. Based on previous studies on research collaboration, five major factors are identified. We propose five hypotheses from them and examine these by using both in-person questionnaire survey and relational bibliometric analysis. The survey analysis informs individual choice factors and the bibliometric analysis informs collective consequence factors. The results of this study may have implications for science policies and digital collaboration services.

  • According to the development of information technology, there are many services in our life. These services make our life safe and convenient. However, the increment of the services also causes the increment of human concern and effort to control these services. The context-aware service is the service that provided their functionality at the right time and to the right place by analysis user's current situation. The most previous studies about context-aware service regard that context-aware services are defined by the developer who has expertise in information technology. The definition of the context-aware services by the developer makes difficult to reflect user's personal preferences and life pattern to the services. In this paper, we propose an user interface EUCAS(by End-User, Context-Aware Service development) that make the user can define and manage their own context-aware service according to their preferences. We expect EUCAS can be effective user interface technology for providing personalized context-aware service.

  • There have been increased economic and societal demands to continuously monitor the integrity and long-term deterioration of civil infrastructures to ensure their safety and adequate performance throughout their life span. However, it is very difficult to continuously monitor the structural condition of the pipeline structures because those are placed underground and connected each other complexly, although pipeline structures are core underground infrastructures which transport primary sources. Moreover, damage can occur at several scales from micro-cracking to buckling or loose bolts in the pipeline structures. In this study, guided wave measurement can be achieved with a self-sensing circuit using a piezoelectric active sensor. In this self sensing system, a specific frequency-induced structural wavelet response is obtained from the self-sensed guided wave measurement. To classify the multiple types of structural damage, supervised learning-based statistical pattern recognition was implemented using the damage indices extracted from the guided wave features. Different types of structural damage artificially inflicted on a pipeline system were investigated to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SHM approach.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive resource self-management system that collects system resources, user information, and usage patterns as context information for utilization in self-configuration. This system ill ease the system maintenance burden on users by automation of large part of configuration tasks such as install, reconfiguration and update, and will also decrease cost and errors. Working from the gathered context information, this system allows users to select appropriate components and install them for user's system context. This also offers a more personalized configuration setting by using user's existing application setting and usage pattern. To avoid the overload on central server to transfer and manage related files, we employ Peer-to-Peer method. h prototype was developed to evaluate the system and a comparison study with the conventional methods of manual configuration and MS-IBM systems was conducted to validate the proposed system in terms of functional capacity, install time and etc.

Surface Crack Evaluation Method in Concrete Structures (콘크리트 구조물의 표면 균열 평가 기법)

  • Cracks in concrete structures should be measured to periodically assess potential problems in durability and serviceability. Conventional crack measurement systems depend on visual inspections and manual measurements of the crack features such as width, length, and direction using microscope and crack gage. However, conventional methods take long time as well as manpower, and lack quantitative objectivity resulted by inspectors. In this study, an evaluation technique for concrete surface cracks is developed using image processing and artificial neural network. Developed technique consists of three major parts: (1) crack detection (2) crack analysis and (3) pattern recognition. To examine validity of the technique developed in this study, crack analyzing tests were performed on the images obtained from various types of concrete surface cracks. The test results revealed that the system is highly effective in automatically analyzing concrete surface cracks in terms of features and patterns of cracks.

A Study on the Driver's License Renewal and Return Policy through the Recognition of the Elderly's Driving Pattern (고령자의 운전패턴 인식을 통한 운전면허증 갱신 및 반납 정책에 대한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to derive the traffic accident risk index through the recognition of the elderly driver's driving pattern to reduce the traffic accident rate of elderly drivers and to reflect them in the renewal and return policy of driver's license accordingly. First, the traffic accident risk index is defined by analyzing the behavioral characteristics of older drivers to derive the major factors that lead to traffic accidents. Second, we present a method to measure the traffic accident risk index from the driving pattern of the elderly through the smart-phone, the camera and the distance sensor attached to the car. Finally, we derive three thresholds by computer simulation and determine the accident risk from the measured traffic accident risk index as four steps and suggest ways to ensure safe driving of older drivers. It is required to objectively assess the driving ability of an aged driver in accordance with the proposed method, and to induce the driver to reset the driver's license renewal cycle and voluntarily return the driver's license to minimize social costs due to increased traffic accidents.

  • Design patterns are known widely by the techniques to improve software qualify. The design patterns are efficient solutions for problems occurring frequently in software development. Recently there are wide researches for design patterns to find them and to verify usability for them. But there are very few researches to define systematic development approaches about constructing application using design patterns. In this paper, we propose an approach for the pattern-oriented software development process using incremental composition for design patterns. For this proposal, first we define a development process using design patterns, propose technique for incremental composition for design patterns and view ports for software in the process. Also we deal with the problem of efficient traceability and maintenance to design patterns in the software system. And we use a feedback framework system as an illustrative example to show how the process can be used to develop the pattern-oriented software. In the development of software, the systematic development approach and usage increase efficiency to develop the system by using design experience and technique early in the development lifecycle. Therefore the system will assure the high stability and reusability and offer the low cost and time for development.

Improved Vapor Recognition in Electronic Nose (E-Nose) System by Using the Time-Profile of Sensor Array Response (센서 응답의 Time-Profile 을 이용한 전자 후각 (E-Nose) 시스템의 Vapor 인식 성능 향상)

  • The electronic nose (E-nose) recently finds its applications in medical diagnosis, specifically on detection of diabetes, pulmonary or gastrointestinal problem, or infections by examining odors in the breath or tissues with its odor characterizing ability. The odor recognition performance of E-nose can be improved by manipulating the sensor array responses of vapors in time-profile forms. The different chemical interactions between the sensor materials and the volatile organic compounds (VOC's) leave unique marks in the signal profiles giving more information than collection of the conventional piecemal features, i.e., maximum sensitivity, signal slopes, rising time. In this study, to use them in vapor recognition task conveniently, a novel time-profile method was proposed, which is adopted from digital image pattern matching. The degrees of matching between 8 different vapors were evaluated by using the proposed method. The test vapors are measured by the silicon-based gas sensor array with 16 CB-polymer composites installed in membrane structure. The results by the proposed method showed clear discrimination of vapor species than by the conventional method.
