A Study in Bitcoin Volatility through Economic Factors (경제적 요인으로 살펴본 비트코인의 변동성에 관한 연구)

  • As a result of the United States (U.S) -China trade conflict, the recent instability of the stock market has led many people to invest in Bitcoin, a commodity that many previous studies have interpreted as a safe asset. However, recent Bitcoin market price fluctuations suggest that the asset's stability stems from speculative purchasing trends. Therefore, classifying the characteristics of Bitcoin assets can be an important reference point in analyzing relevant accounting information. To determine whether Bitcoin is a safe asset, this study analyzed the correlation between Bitcoin and economic indicators to verify whether gold and Bitcoin responded similarly in time series analyses. These show that the regression explanatory power between the price of gold and bitcoin is low, thus no relation between the two assets could be drawn. Additionally, the Granger causality analyses of six individual economic variables and Bitcoin did not establish any notable causality. This can be interpreted that short-term price fluctuations have a significant impact on the nature of Bitcoin as an asset.

  • Private banking, which is a part of the financial services industry, is an investment advisory business targeting high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). The demand for asset management services, which isexpanding in the world market as well as in the Asia-Pacific region, is rapidly increasing in Korea as the low-growth, low-interest environment has stabilized. In Korea, the private banking business is ahead of growth, and the evaluation and compensation system of playing institutions remains a challenge. While the aging of the population increases the demand for services, the increasing competition and regulations have decreased the profit margins in the industry. In this paper, a business model is derived from a professional service quality model. Modular advisory services, value-proposition through sophisticated services, and investment expertise with increased clarity would help wealth management firms pursue their opportunities. By interviewing the experts of wealth management banks, this study constructsa business model with elements derived from a relevant literature review. The contribution of this research is to enable these institutions to understand the key factors affecting their financial performances, in order to improve them. This study is limited by one of the research models, and it will be necessary to conduct an empirical test in the future.

A Study on the Wealth of Seller and Buyer in Asset Sales (자산매각의 가치창출 효과: 매각기업과 매수기업의 비교분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze whether asset sales contributed to increase of the shareholder value of the seller and the buyer in Japan. The period of analysis is 2000-2007. As a result of event study, Although the stockholder of the seller earn positive abnormal returns at the announcement of a asset sales, most stockholders of the buyer were break even. However, the buyer which purchase related asset get positive abnormal returns. Furthermore, when using a matched seller-buyer, we find that asset sales are firm value enhancing for the seller and buyer. Furthermore, we verify whether the excess return depends on the financial condition, and the managerial performance. we find that seller gains are related to the seller's managerial performance, leverage ratio, and buyer gains are related to the leverage ratio, foreigner holdings ratio. we conclude that lender and outside monitoring lead to increase of firm value.

  • This study examined the effects of insurance company's CSR activities on customer-based brand assets and customers' intention to pay premium prices in order to identify the possibility of CSR activities as an insurance company's differentiated marketing strategies. Throughout collecting 510 surveys, this study has proved that economic and charitable activities had a effect on customer-based brand assets, also economic and environmental activities had a effect on intention to pay premium prices. In addition, the mediating role of the customer-based brand asset between economic and charitable activities and intention to pay premiums was proved. Lastly, it was confirmed that the level of SNS usage moderates the relationship between economic activities and customer-based brand assets. Based on the results, this study provides insurance companies with an effective marketing strategy of the CSR program.

  • Apartment brand has been used as a new strategy in Korean housing market to fulfill customer's changing needs for buying houses. A number of construction companies have succeeded in brand awareness and image building, however, they still struggle to establish brand loyalty and manage brand equity elements in balance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the brand equity building process of apartment products in Korean housing market and determine causal relationships among variables to propose strategies for long-term prosperity of the construction companies. System Dynamics modeling method is applied to describe how variables affect and are linked to each other in terms of building equity and enhancing company profits from customers' brand awareness to brand loyalty. Based on the analysis model, strategies for construction companies depending on their market share were proposed and this may support the company to achieve financial success and competitiveness among its competitors in the fast-changing market.

  • This study investigates how domestic entertainment companies' CSR activities, risk management, and producing abilities affect consumers' perception of their integrated brand assets. A survey was conducted on college students enrolled in a four-year university, and a total of 423 data were used for analysis. The result indicates the following. First, consumer evaluation of economic activity and philanthropic activity showed a positive causal relationship with the perception of integrated brand assets. Second, the higher the risk management and producing ability on evaluation of entertainment companies, the more positive the perception of integrated brand assets. Third, the main effect of producing ability was found to be significant among the four companies. In addition, regardless of the evaluation level of CSR activities and risk management, the group with a high producing ability evaluation showed a higher perception of integrated brand assets than the group with a low level of evaluation.

  • By the way, in light of the knowledge, even public institutions are paying much attention to the management of IT assets for achieving organizational goals. Recently, some public institutions adopt balanced scorecard for enhancing efficiency in operations and management of total administrations. To be interested, some key performance indicators(KPI) of the balanced scorecard reflect the three aspects of IT assets and their possible outcomes. The main focus of this study is to investigate whether there is positive effects of IT asset management through balanced scorecard at public institutions. Specifically, we selected and classified KPIs into different categories depending on three aspects of IT assets, internal process change, and organizational outcomes. To address relationships of KPIs among the categories, we specified each category and developed as a variable respectively. A middle-sized city provided us with 138 KPIs for the development of scales.

A study on the Analysis of Locational Characteristics of REITs Assets (운영부동산 유형별 리츠자산의 입지특성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • REITs are very closely related to real estate management, but there have been no prior studies analyzing the location of REITs assets. Therefore, this study analyzed the location characteristics of REITs assets in two aspects to clarify the location characteristics by using spatial information of REITs assets. First, the characteristics of the type of city where REITs assets are distributed were analyzed, and second, the characteristics of the zoning where REITs assets are distributed were analyzed. As a result of analyzing the characteristics of the city where REITs assets are distributed by type, it was analyzed that in the case of the capital area, both the ratio of cities with REITs assets location and the intensity of REITs assets location (number of REITs assets per city) have location characteristics by city hierarchy in the order of metropolitan city > big city > small and medium-sized city. In the case of non-capital area's metropolitan and large cities, the ratio of REITs assets location cities is similar to that of the capital area, but the location intensity of REITs assets was analyzed to be significantly lower than that of the capital area. As a result of the analysis of REITs assets by type, housing REITs assets tend to be located in the old downtown commercial zoning and the new downtown residential zoning, office REITs assets are characterized by concentration of location in specific commercial zoning of Seoul, and retail REITs assets are located mainly in the old downtown station area. In addition, it was found that logistics REITs assets tend to be located in management zoning, centering on key logistics hub cities in the region.

  • 현재 우리 나라 약업계에서는 의약분업, 일부 의약품의 슈퍼마켓에서의 판매 등의 급격한 환경변화로 약국경영형태의 혁신적인 변화가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 약업계에서는 급속히 발전되고 있으나 학문적으로는 연구된 적이 거의 없는 볼런터리 체인형태의 협업체 약국에 초점을 맞추어 가맹약국과 체인본부와의 거래관계의 질과 체인약국 시스템의 효율적인 운영 및 관리방안을 알아보았다. 본 논문에서는 연구목적들을 달성하기 위하여 특정 협업체 약국체인에 참여하고 있는 168개의 가맹약국을 대상으로 자료를 전국적으로 수집하였으며, 구조방정식 모형을 사용하여 연구가설을 검정한 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 약국체인시스템에 투자한 가맹약국의 거래특유자산과 기업가정신은 관계규범에 유의한 영향을 주었으나, 환경의 불확실성은 정보교환, 결속력, 운영유연성 등의 관계규범에 유의적인 작용을 하지 못하였다. 둘째, 거래특유자산과 동기적 투자는 체인구성원들간의 상호의존성을 유의하게 높였으나, 대체안의 획득가능성과 관계규범은 상호의존성에 중요한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 마지막으로, 체인구성원간의 관계규범과 상호의존성이 관계의 질 즉 가맹약국들이 거래에서 느끼는 만족, 체인본부에 대한 신뢰, 약국체인에 지속적으로 참여하려는 몰입에 주는 영향을 분석하였다. 상호의존성은 관계규범과 신뢰에 영향을 주고, 관계규범은 만족을 통하여 신뢰에 유의한 영향을 주었으며, 그리고 신뢰는 몰입에 유의적인 영향을 주었다.

체계적위험과 비정상성에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구는 비정상성과 관련된 기존의 연구들이 베타위험과 추가설명변수들 사이의 상관관계를 무시한 검증방법의 오류를 지적한다. 그 상관관계를 고려한 포트폴리오 구성방법을 선택한 후, 비정상성에 관한 좀 더 정밀한 검증을 실시하여 규모효과와 EP효과를 검토한다. 더 나아가 CAPM의 두 가지 주장, 즉, 베타위험의 유일성과 이 위험과 그 자산의 수익률간의 양의 상관관계를 갖는다는 두 가지 주장을 세밀히 검토하게 된다. 또한 이 모든 검증에서 등가중지수(Equal-Weighted Index: EWI)와 가치가중지수(Value-Weighted Index: VWI)의 적용에 대한 차이도 동시에 검토하였다. 1980년 1월부터 1993년 6월까지의 월별수익률과 한국신용평가주식회사의 주식수익률 데이터베이스(KIS-SMAT), 재무제표 데이터베이스(KIS-FAS)를 이용하여 검증한 결과, 한국중권시장에서는 규모효과만 존재하였고, EP효과가 존재한다는 증거는 얻지 못하였다. 또한 EWI와 VWI의 지수에 대한 차이는 아주 미미하였다. 특히 CAPM에서 주장하는 베타위험의 유일성과 베타위험과 그 자산의 수익률의 양의 상관관계에 대한 두 가지 사실에 대해서는 오히려 상반된 증거만을 확인할 수 있었다.
