The purpose of this research is to analyze and understand MTB(mountain bike) participants' life in subcultural perspective. This research was completed by 8 people live in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon who regularly participated their activity and changed their job to MTB. Observe them by participation, in-depth interview, field notes and researcher's daily records were methods to collect these data. To accomplish this purpose of study, I chose ethnographic Research. As a result, feeling doubt of their previous life, be caught in unique fun of MTB that made them to think MTB leisure seriously as a job, experience of its professionalism they learnt, and changed their job voluntarily were majority opinions. After they changed their job, they seems to have weisure life, more enthusiastic, got positive attitudes than before. Final conclusion of this report is 'close relationship between MTB facility and day life ' and 'tourism's attraction brought them to change their job. This changes gave them satisfaction to their personal life. In socially, it made a large contribution for development of leisure industry by creating new jobs like MTB tour guide and MTB assemblyman.
The author tried to analyse a Korean fairy tale "the traveller and the fox". The essence of the story is as follows; A traveller who was wandering in mountains found a house with a light. There was a beautiful woman who was very kind to give food and shelter. But she was a fox that tried to kill him with a knife. He asked her to bring a basket of water and he broke the wall with it to run away. The fox chased and he fell down a cliff to ride on the back of a tiger. The tiger ran into a cave and give him to her babies as a prey. He killed them by throwing stones and climbed a tree out of the cave. There came foxes and the tiger and they killed each other. He came back to the village with the fur of the foxes and the tiger. The author tried to understand the contents of the story symbolically and interpret them from the perspective of analytical psychology. On conclusion, the traveller was on the individuation process and experienced the negative anima (the fox) and the negative mother archetype (the tiger) and its negative subsidiaries (the tiger's babies). He tried to be consciously alert and paid continuous attention so that he could get out of the status and get new insight. During this process, it was meaningful that he could actively get an appropriate aid of positive mother archetype and Self symbolized by the water and the tree respectively.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the preferred SSI topics of students and teachers in elementary, middle, and high schools. It analyzed the similarity of students' and teachers' preferred SSI topics by school level using the cosine similarity measure. A total of 566 students and 327 teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools participated in the study. Sixty topics were identified and listed in the areas of environment, science and technology, health and medicine, and other social issues based on the literature and SSI programs. Students and teachers were asked to select five of their favorite topics. The data was collected online using SurveyMonkey. The collected data was divided into six groups of students and teachers, and the frequency of topic selection was analyzed within each group. The topic preference similarity was analyzed by calculating vector values based on the frequency of the selected topics and measuring the cosine similarity between students, teachers, and teachers and students by school level. The results are as follows: First, the cosine similarity of SSI Preferred Topics between students' school-level cohorts was higher between middle and high school students (0.982) than between elementary and middle school students (0.651) or between elementary and high school students (0.662). Second, the cosine similarity of SSI Preferred Topics between teachers' school-level cohorts was similar for all comparison groups between elementary, middle, and high school. Third, the SSI topic preference similarity between students and teachers by school level had a higher cosine similarity between the elementary student and teacher cohorts (0.974) than the other school level comparisons, middle school (0.621) or high school (0.645). Access to topics of interest to students in SSI education is strongly associated with motivation and persistence in learning, as well as an enjoyable learning experience and positive attitudes toward learning. Therefore, when designing SSI lessons, it is important to examine topics from the perspective of student interest, especially if the teacher has selected SSI topics that are different from students' preferences. Careful instructional design will be needed to overcome the gap.

This study explores the characteristics of within-school and across-school science teacher professional learning communities (hereafter, PLC) qualitatively. In-depth focus group interviews were conducted with science teachers belonging to seven PLCs within the science core school and three PLCs across schools. Interview questions include identity and motivation, major activities, and outcomes of PLC, as well as shortcomings and support plans for PLC. The results include both within-school and across-school science teacher PLCs formed for professional development related to science teaching and learning. Both science PLCs participated in the study showed the characteristics of a 'practice community' that developed a cooperative relationship through reciprocal participation, focusing on shared issues among members. Regarding issues, within-school PLCs focused on microscopic problems such as curriculum reconstruction of subject-matter, while across-school PLCs focused on macro problems such as teacher professional development. Regarding activities and roles as PLC, within-school and across-school science PLCs shared such features as collaborative professional development, and interpersonal education such as mentoring for novice teachers. In terms of PLC's influence and outcomes, science teacher PLCs has a positive effect not only on the teachers themselves, but also on the students and the teacher culture in the school. In addition, science teacher PLCs need improvement of the physical conditions for community operation, and software support such as protocol provision for PLC operation and joint research or re-education with universities. In particular, joint research between universities and science teacher PLCs shows the future orientation of the PLC as an 'inquiry community'. Based on the results, the necessity of active support for science PLC, the necessity of developing a cooperative system between science teacher PLC and universities, and ways to spread the PLC of science core schools to that of general schools were proposed.
As a design research, this study aims to identify students' collaborative problems solving patterns using the Wiki and design factors triggering MKB(mathematical knowledge building) in virtual environment. For 70 days, 14 Korean secondary gifted students, who enrolled in calculus II courses in one of gifted institutions in Korea, solved 10 math problems together using the Wiki. In this study, I considered five design factors; motivation, practice of LaTeX, norms of participation, epistemic agency, and two types of educational settings. The primary pattern emergent in students' collaborative problem solving process is identified as 'solutions and refutations' along the double helix consisting of the constructive line and the critical line, which is very similar to the pattern of 'Conjectures and Refutations'(Lakatos, 1976). Despite that most participants had difficulty in using LaTeX for mathematical expressions, this study shows that Wikis are valuable tools for providing Korean secondary students opportunities to learn social virtue such as humility and courage (Lampert, 1990), which is considered to be have been neglected in Korean educational environment but is emphasized as precious for doing mathematics in the field of mathematics education.
This study reviewed the literature on the self-distancing method for emotion regulation. Self-distancing refers to taking a step back in dealing with one's own experiences and interpreting them in a relatively objective manner. Studies have indicated that self-distancing affects cognitive and emotional processes, which are particularly beneficial in regulating negative emotions. Therefore, this study focused on organizing previous results to summarize their meaning, assess means of measurement, and analyze possible effects. Above all, the related concepts of an observer's rational perspective and self-reflection were presented to clarify the definition of self-distancing, followed by a discussion of its measurement. Based on this, the effects of self-distancing were introduced according to their emotional, cognitive, physiological, developmental, and behavioral aspects. However, despite repeated verification of the positive effects of self-distancing, there are several inconsistencies that require consideration. Finally, we suggested the study's academic and practical implications and recommended directions for further research.
The present study examines the the role of subjectively perceived factors of the attitude toward job-seeking activities in forming an intention to use a web. An integrative research model is presented and tested empirically. It includes the following two aspects of belief in Davis' TAM: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use. Specially, internet job-seeking efficacy, or the belief in one's capabilities to organize and execute courses of Internet actions required to achieve given goals, is a potentially important factor in efforts to gain more favorable attitude toward Internet uses. Survey data were collected to develop a reliable operational measure of Internet job-seeking efficacy and to examine its construct validity. An four-item Internet job-seeking efficacy scale developed for the present study was found to be reliable and internally consistent. Also, many previous studies have established that perceived usefulness is an important factor influencing user acceptance and usage behavior of information technologies. However, very little research has been conducted to understand how that perception forms and changes over time. The current work presents and tests the determinants of perceived usefulness. The present study found that higher internet job-seeking efficacy is an important concept which is significantly related to job-seeking activities by positively influencing intention and performance as well as usefulness on the Internet.
In this study, visually impaired secondary students' conception of "changes of state of water" was explored. Science inquiry activity for students with visual impairments was implemented to 16 middle school students and 15 high school students from school for the blind. 14 of them were totally blind, 13 had low vision and the others were not identified. Inquiry activities were conducted by communicating with the researcher while students were individually exploring the molecular models of water and ice developed for the study. After the exploration, students were asked to explain the concept of changes of state of water with the model they explored. Opinion on the need and the usability of this kind of tactile model was also asked to them. All conversations were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. As a result, students with visual impairments answered exactly about the materials used for the model and their numbers. However, they didn't know what the model stood for. They had experiences of learning molecule of water and changes of state of water, but it was a phenomenon and superficial understanding. Students got to understand the molecular structures of water and ice, and had a positive perception on the need and the usability of the model. Based on these results, educational implications were discussed.
This study aimed at comprehending the duty, role, and difficulty of intermediary manager through in-depth investigation of dental hygienist intermediary managers experienced over 10 years working in a dental clinic. In-depth interviews were conducted with 10 dental intermediary managers and Giorgi's analysis method was used to analyze the data. Findings revealed that the work experience of the dental hygienist intermediary managers appeared in the range of "becoming an intermediary manager through various processes", "various duties that they experience as an intermediary manager", "difficulty as an intermediary manager", "ability that they perceive as necessary for being a dental intermediary manager", and "worthiness they feel as the intermediary manager". The dental intermediary managers complained of difficulties at work, and appeared to perform various tasks such as human resource management, clinic management support, and patient's management. Accordingly, the researcher considers that research on dental intermediary managers' capacity development necessary.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between image of dental hygienists and clinical practice satisfaction of dental hygiene students. The subjects in the study were 706 female students who majored in dental hygiene at randomly selected colleges, which were located in Daejeon, Ulsan, and North Chungcheong province. Data were gathered using structured questionnaires from October 20, 2014 to April 13, 2015. The major findings of the study were as follows: The average of satisfaction with clinical practice was 3.32, The average of image of dental hygienists was 3.55. As for clinical practice satisfaction by general and practice characteristics, there were statistically significant difference according to degree of satisfaction for major, as for image of dental hygienists, there were statistically significant difference according to grade, degree of satisfaction for major, number of clinical experience, practice organization and admission motive. The relationship of image of dental hygienists and clinical practice satisfaction was analyzed, and clinical practice satisfaction had a significant positive effect on image of dental hygienists. As a result of analyzing which variables affected image of dental hygienists, it's found that image of dental hygienists were under the influence of number of clinical experience, practice organization and clinical practice satisfaction. Clinical practice satisfaction influenced image of dental hygienists. Therefore, dental hygiene students are given a chance to have positive image through well-structured clinical practice.
