A Study on Quality Evaluation of Discovery Central Index - the Case of EDS(EDSCO Discovery Service) - (디스커버리(Discovery) 통합색인의 품질평가에 관한 연구 - EDS를 사례로 하여 -)

  • This study intends to make a comprehensive inquiry into the meaning and limitations of Discovery, and to explore how to make full use of Discovery in library cataloging. To this end, first discussed is the meaning of Discovery, which has a variety definitions. For the quality evaluation, 5 criteria were developed on the basis of literature review. Then this study conducted the quality evaluation on the basis of previously developed 5 criteria and usefulness of Discovery in library catalogs is thoroughly discussed. Based on these, the final discussion includes strategies for Korean LIS scholars and library practitioners to consider when applying Discovery as an integrated search tool.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and problems of an independent research program. The researcher has collected and analysed data from 99 teachers and 825 students who participated in the 'Book Writing' program of Daegu Metropolitan City Board of Education. As an way to improve teaching and learning methods of schools, the 'Book Writing' program is evaluated to be effective and relevant. In conclusion, the researcher suggested several ways to improve the program.

  • 20세기 후반을 거치며 환경 관련 이슈는 조경 이론과 설계에서도 중심 주제로 자리잡아 왔다. 환경에 대한 고려를 중심에 둔 이른바 생태적 조경계획 설계는 조경의 패러다임에 일대 전환을 가져오고 조경의 대사회적 역할을 교정했다는 평가를 받고 있다. 그러나 이러한 흐름은 동시대 조경 이론과 설계의 가장 첨예한 쟁점 중의 하나인 생태학과 예술 사이의 이분법을 심화시켰다는 비판에 직면하고 있는 것 또한 사실이다. 즉 생태적 조경은 환경적 가치 대형태 구축, 부지의 생태적 분석 대 창조적 표현이라는 이원론적 갈등 관계를 형성해 온 것이다. 이 논문은 이러한 양상의 생태-예술 이원론을 해체하고 대안적 조경의 지평을 구축하는 일이 현대 조경설계가 풀어야 할 최우선의 과제라고 파악한다. 이 논문은 특히 최근의 조경설계에서 실험되고 있는 경험의 구축, 변화와 프로세스의 고려, 일시성과 불확정성을 존중하는 태도 등을 통해 생태-예술 이원론을 해체할 수 있는 실천적 전략을 모색한다. 뿐만 아니라 그러한 전략에서 드러나는 대안적 조경미학이 최근의 환경미학과 공유하고 있는 이론적 지형을 검토함으로써 생태학과 예술의 접점을 가로지르는 조경설계의 새로운 좌표를 탐색한다.

Exploring Conceptualization and Future Directions of Korean Marine Education (한국해양교육의 정체성과 방향성 탐색)

  • Understanding mutual impacts between the ocean and human beings is integral to sustainability of the Earth. Ocean literacy, therefore, is placed as a new paradigm of marine education in North America and Europe. Reflecting this movement, it is necessary for Korean marine educators to discuss conceptualization and future directions of Korean marine education. We reviewed marine education of North America as well as Korea in the domains of formal and informal marine education. We provide the definition, goal, and future recommendations for Korean marine education.

  • Group home family has emerged in the era of various forms of family existing. There are adolescents who are 'living in group home' yet, the meanings of living in group home have received little attention in the literature. The authors attempts to reveal the lived experiences of group home residents and the meanings of living in a group home with group of people from different backgrounds. The authors reveals 'being cared for' and 'being there for each other' are the themes of lived experience to the group home residents. The study shows how the residents had survived in their family of origin and how those experiences have affected one's lived experience in their living in group home.

A Study on the Exploring of Convergence R&D Areas Related to Aging and Comparative Analysis by Major Countries using Global R&D Funding Project Data Information (글로벌 연구개발 과제정보를 활용한 노화 관련 융합 R&D 영역 탐색 및 주요국 비교 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In the era of super-aged societies, research and development (R&D) projects related to aging are very important agenda for establishing the direction of future R&D planning and technological competitiveness in the country. In order to respond promptly to this agenda, it is essential to establish a national-level convergence R&D policy. In this study, we utilized the global R&D funding project data from major nations (US, Europe, Japan), and then standardized them with the same fields. To analyze the current status of global R&D related to aging, we performed cluster analysis based on the co-occurrence matrix to explore convergence R&D areas in the US, Europe, and Japan related to aging. In addition, comparative analysis by country suggested that different points on the interdisciplinary area and the convergence of aging-related R&D by each country. These results provide fundamental understandings for the status of convergence in aging-related global R&D, the current technology trends, and establish the direction and strategy of R&D policy.

  • The paradigm of convergence R&D is shifting from the convergence of technologies to the convergence of solutions to solve the complex problems of scientific and social development. On the other hand, it is prevalent that there is a lack of convergence in our research field. Although Korea has invested heavily in fusion research and development, Korea has mainly focused on the application and development of technology, so failed to plan convergence R&D in line with the new paradigm. Therefore, in this study, we searched for convergence R&D area that is being done to solve social problems, and tried to make use of data-driven objective methods. For this purpose, we used the investment information of global R&D projects that had no retrospective properties and derived the convergence R&D area related to coastal flooding.

  • This paper explores strategies to enhance internal customer orientation from the perspectives of both disabled clients and people without disabilities (social workers) within vocational rehabilitation facilities. It proposes efficient operational strategies for these facilities through a literature review on the relationship between internal customer orientation and performance. In this process, it examines how satisfying internal customer needs and focusing on job satisfaction in service provision impacts the overall economic and social performance of the organization. The study also identifies practical strategies that can help vocational rehabilitation facilities overcome challenges and achieve sustainable development.

  • The primary purpose of this paper is to find out what issues are important in the Social Security sector, and then, through AHP methodology, this study analyzes what kind of big data methodologies and projects can be implemented to solves these issues. To the aim, this paper first confirmed 8 big data projects from reviewing all issues in the Social Security sector such as administrative works and social policies. After the result of pairwise comparison, policy validity is most important factors rather then effectiveness and practicability. With regard to the priorities among sub-big data projects, the project about preventing improper recipients has come out the most important project in terms of validity, effectiveness and practicability. And the results showed that the project about outreaching and reducing a blind spot on the welfare sector is weighed as a significant project. The results of this paper, in particular 8 sub-big data projects, will be useful to anyone who is interested in using big data and its methodologies for the social welfare sector.

Exploring a Learning Progression for Integrated Process Skills in Earth Science Inquiry (지구과학 탐구에서 통합 탐구 기능에 대한 학습발달과정 탐색)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore a learning progression for integrated process skills in Earth science inquiry. For the purpose, a hypothetical learning progression (HLP) that capture how students' integrated process skills of science become sophisticated over time is developed through the literature review. This learning progression contains four components of the integrated process skills of science: designing inquiry, collecting data, analyzing data, and forming conclusion. Three hypothetico-deductive inquiry tasks of Earth science that start from recognition of the given problem to the forming conclusion are developed in order to document students' integrated process skills. A total of 126 students from middle, high, college level students participated in this study. After conducting the Earth science inquiry tasks, the integrated process skills of individual students are assessed by element based on HLP. In addition, the validation process for HLP was administered by applying the Rasch model using the students' assessment data. Finally, based on the analyzed data, the empirical learning progression (ELP) is developed by revising and supplementing the HLP. This study can help to find scaffolding methods to effectively improve the students' integrated process skills in Earth science inquiry class by identifying the factors that affect students' development of integrated process skills. It also provide implications for improving teachers' PCK of Earth science inquiry instruction.
