Synthesis of Ni supported on Ce-$ZrO_2$ for HDO Reaction to Produce New Generation Bio-diesel (차세대 바이오디젤 생산을 위한 HDO 반응용 Ce-$ZrO_2$에 담지된 Ni 촉매 합성)

  • 1세대 바이오디젤인 fatty acid methyl ester(FAME)의 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 많은 연구가 진행 중 이다. 소위 차세대 바이오디젤은 triglyceride의 산소 화합물을 제거하여 정유 공정을 통해 생산된 디젤과 동일한 특성을 지닌 탄화수소로 전환시킨 오일이다. 이를 위하여 수소를 첨가하여 산소를 제거 시키는 Hydrodeoxygenation(HDO) 반응이 필요하다. 고온($300-400^{\circ}C$), 고압(50-100 bar)의 혹독한 조건에서 높은 수율과 안정성을 보이는 촉매 개발이 필요하다. 이를 위하여 반응물중의 산소를 효과적으로 제거하기 위하여 산소 전달능이 뛰어난 $CeO_2$ 담체에 열안정성을 높이는 $ZrO_2$를 조합한 $Ce-ZrO_2$ 담체를 선정하였으며 수소첨가 탈산소 반응에 활성을 나타낼 것으로 예상되는 니켈을 활성성분으로 선정하였다. 본 연구에서는 15%Ni-$Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ ($0{\leq}x{\leq}1$)촉매를 공침법(co-precipitation)으로 제조하였으며 $500^{\circ}C$에서 소성하였다. 촉매 특성분석은 XRD, BET, H2-TPR을 이용하였다.

Electrochemical Properties of Spinel LiMn2O4 Prepared Through Different Synthesis Routes (스피넬형 양극활물질 LiMn2O4의 합성방법에 따른 전기화학적 특성 비교)

  • In order to investigate the effects of particle size and specific surface area(BET area) of spinel powder, $LiMn_2O_4$ were synthesized using metal oxide precursor by co-precipitation method(CoP) and solid state reaction (SSR) .X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns revealed that the both prepared powder has a well developed spinel structure with Fd3m space group. The $LiMn_2O_4$ prepared by co-precipitation showed spherical morphology with narrow size distribution. However, the $LiMn_2O_4$ prepared by solid state reaction showed relatively smaller particles with irregular shape. The measured BET areas of the powers are $0.8m^2g^{-1}$ (CoP) and $3.6m^2g^{-1}$(SSR). The electrochemical performance of the Prepared $LiMn_2O_4$ powders was evaluated using coin type cells(CR2032) at elevated temperature ($55^{\circ}C$). The $LiMn_2O_4$ prepared by co-precipitation showed the better cycling performance(82.3%capacity retention at $50^{th}$ cycle) than that of the $LiMn_2O_4$(68.3%) prepared by solid state reaction at elevated temperature.

  • Scandium-doped zirconium, ScSZ-based electrolyte, provides higher oxygen conductivity than YSZ and nano-based electrolyte materials are ideal for fabricating thin film electrolyte membrane of SOFC unit cell. Moreover, it may be applied to anode and cathode as well as electrolyte as ionic conductor. In this report, nano-based ScSZ-based electrolyte powder was prepared by co-precipitation synthesis. The particle size, surface area and morphology of the powder were observed by SEM and BET. Thin film electrolyte of under $10{\mu}m$ was fabricated by tape casting and co-firing using the synthesized ScSZ-based powders, and ionic conductivity and gas permeability of electrolyte film were evaluated. Finally, the SOFC unit cell was fabricated using the anode-supported electrolyte prepared by a tape casting method and co-sintering. Electrochemical evaluations of the SOFC unit cell, including measurements such as power density and impedance, were performed and analyzed.

  • The feasibility of lead removal by electrolytic coprecipitation was investigated. Electrolysis bath was divided into anode and cathode chamber with anion exchange resin filled membrane. Sea water was electrolyzed and pH of the electrolyte in cathode chamber was increased. Consequently it induced the formation of $Mg(OH)_2$ and $CaCO_3$. The colloidal type precipitates, hich have high surface area, adsorbed lead ions in sea water and coprecipitated. Sea water electrolyses were conducted at different current density. Concentrations of Mg, Ca and Pb in the solution were measured with titration and ASV method. Morphology and crystallography were analyzed with SEM, EDS and XRD. As pH and current density increased, most of lead ions in the sea water were successfully removed.

  • Barium titanyl oxalate which is a precursor of barium titanate has been precipitated at pH 4~5 by a rapid addition of aqueous titanyl oxalate solution to artificial environmental water samples containing equivalent weight of $Ba^{2+}$ ions. Quantitative recoveries of $Cd^{2+}$ and $Pb^{2+}$ from the water samples has been confirmed and found to be usable as a possible method of preconcentration for their determination.

Steam Reforming of Ethylene Glycol over Ni/Al2O3 Catalysts: Effect of the Preparation Method and Reduction Temperature (Ni/Al2O3 촉매를 사용한 에틸렌글리콜의 수증기 개질 반응: 촉매 제조 방법과 환원온도의 영향)

  • The effect of preparation method on the catalytic activities of the $Ni/Al_2O_3$ catalysts on steam reforming of ethylene glycol was investigated. The catalysts were prepared with various preparation methods such as an incipient wetness impregnation, wet impregnation, and coprecipitation method. In the case of coprecipitation method, various precipitants such as KOH, $K_2CO_3$, and $NH_4OH$ were compared. The prepared catalysts were characterized by using $N_2$ physisorption, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, temperatureprogrammed reduction, pulsed $H_2$ chemisorption, temperature-programmed oxidation, scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. Among the catalysts reduced at 773 K, the $Ni/Al_2O_3$ catalyst prepared by a coprecipitation with KOH or $K_2CO_3$ as precipitants showed the best catalytic performance. The preparation method affected the particle size of Ni, reducibility of nickel oxides, catalytic performance (activity and stability), and types of coke formed during the reaction. The $Ni/Al_2O_3$ catalyst prepared by a coprecipitation with KOH showed the increasing catalytic activity with an increase in the reduction temperature from 773 to 1173 K because of an increase in the reduction degree of Ni oxide species even though the particle size of Ni increased with increasing reduction temperature.

  • La-modified PbTiO3 Powders and ceramics were prepared by coprecipitation and salt decomposition method. In this process, fine and homogeneous single phase of La-modified PbTiO3 was synthesized at lower temperature than oxide mixing method. And these powders contributed to lowering calcination temperature and rising sintering properties. The properties of these powders and the change of properties with themperature and the effect of powder properties on sintering were investigated.

Effect of Mixing Method of Sintering Additives on the Sintered and Mechanical Properties of $Si_3N_4$ (질화규소의 소결 및 기계적 특성에 미치는 소결첨가제 혼합방법의 영향)

  • $Si_3N_4$ powders were mixed with sintering additives($3Y_2O_3{\cdot}5Al_2O_3$, YAG) by coprecipitation method. Mixing homogeneity, sintered and mechanical properties of coprecipitation-mixed powder compacts were compared with those of mechanically-mixed ones. SIMS-analysis for composition on the surface and in the matrix of prepared powder mixtures showed that the added YAG exists mainly on the $Si_3N_4$ powder surfaces in a form of coating. From this result it could be concluded that coprecipitation method is superior to mechanical mixing in the mixing homogeneity. This mixing homogeneity can accompany an improvement in sintered density, microstructure and consequently the mechanical properties of sintered bodys.
