Properties of Polycaprolactone Modified by Reaction Extrusion (반응압출법에 의해 개질된 폴리카프로락톤의 물성에 관한 연구)

  • The modification of biodegradable polycaprolactone was accomplished by reactive extrusion with various contents of free radical initiator. Reaction conditions were in the temperature range of $130^{\circ}C$ to $180^{\circ}C$ with initiator contents of 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 1.0 wt%. To characterize the modified polycaprolactone (PCL), molecular weight was measured by gel permeation chromatography(GPC) and thermal, mechanical and rheological properties as well as biodegradability were measured. The modified PCL (MPCL) with 1% of initiator showed ca. 20% increase in crystallinity and ca. 50% increase in tensile modulus. Also, a large increase in rheological properties such as complex viscosity, storage and loss modulus was observed. The biodegradability of most MPCL was higher than that of virgin PCL.

A Study on Optimum Conditions Derivation on Thermal Hydrolysis of Food Wastewater and the Applicability of the Thermal Solubilization in Biological Denitrification Process (음폐수의 열가수분해 최적조건 도출과 생물학적 탈질공정에서 열가용화액의 적용 가능성에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of this research is to derive an optimum operating condition for the thermal solubilization equipment that is employed to increase concentration of soluble organic materials and to assess whether it would be possible to use the waste sludge generated by thermal solubilization reaction as an external carbon source in biological denitrification process. For the purpose, we have constituted a laboratory-size thermal solubilization equipment and have assessed thermal hydrolysis efficiency based on various reaction temperature and reaction time. We have also derived SDNR using the waste sludge generated by thermal solubilization reaction through a batch experiment. As a result of research, the highest thermal hydrolysis efficiency of about 42.8% was achieved at $190^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature and at 90 minutes of reaction time. And when SDNR was derived using the waste sludge, the value obtained was $0.080{\sim}0.094\;g\;NO_3{^-}-N/g\;MLVSS{\cdot}day$, showing SDNR that is higher than that obtained by the results of existing researches that used common wastewater as an external carbon source. Accordingly, in view of the fact that food wastes vary quite a bit in characteristics based on the area they are generated from and seasonal change, it seems that a flexible operation of thermal solubilization equipment is required through on-going monitoring of food wastes that are imported to food wastes recycling facilities.

Hydrogen Sulfide Removal of Biogas from Sewage Treatment Plant with Micro-bubble Generation System (마이크로버블 장치를 이용한 하수처리장 바이오가스의 황화수소 제거)

  • Prior to utilization of energy and power generation, the biogas from anaerobic digestion of sewage treatment plant(46,000㎡/d) should be purified particularly hydrogen sulfide among the various kinds of impurities. This study has focused on the methane decreasing rate and the removal of both hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. In the case of partial circulation, 59.7% of methane gas was decreased to 57.4% in spite of oxidation process with micro-bubble. Carbon dioxide was removed from 38% to 32% and 76.1% of hydrogen sulfide was removed where 1,400ppm was introduced to the DIWS system, which indicated that DIWS system can be of use for the hydrogen sulfide removal of biogas from sewage treatment plant.

  • The domestic construction market started to expand steadily since 1970s. The building market which utilizes a sandwich panel with advantages of economical construction expenses and convenient construction has grown rapidly in recent years. However, the companies which specialize in constructing sandwich panels are relatively small or medium size, compared with other construction companies. As a result, studies on the improvement of productivity have not been conducted sufficiently. In this study, the construction sites of sandwich panel are investigated, and the work processes by each team are analyzed. Additionally, the productivity and the construction cost of each construction team are analyzed by constructing a model using the Web-Cyclone. It is expected that the results of this study can be applied to estimate the productivity and the construction cost of a sandwich panel construction that is appropriate for the on-site characteristics of small and medium sized construction companies in Korea. Also, similar processes can be simulated based on the modeling constructed in this study.

Analysis of polyethoxylated ascorbic acid using spectrophotometry (분광광도계를 이용한 폴리에톡시레이티드 아스코르빈산 분석법 개발)

  • We developed a spectrophotometric assay method for polyethoxylated ascorbic acidusing 3-ethyl ascorbic acid as standard material. The analytical method was validated by linearity, accuracy, precision, and stability. The coefficient of variation of the precision of the assay was less than 3.4 %. The linearity of the calibration curves in the desired concentration range is good ($r^2$>0.998). 3-Ethyl ascorbic acid and polyethoxylated ascorbic acid were stable in stock solution at room temperature for up to at least 6 h. The developed assay could be used for the content analysis of polyethoxylated ascorbic acid in samples.

  • In this study, we were clearly identify the behaviour characteristics on particle size distribution of a condensing species by injection condition of HMDS (Hexa Methyl Di-Silazane, silica precursor that is one of liquid adsorbents) to remove condensing gaseous species as using pyroligneous liquor generated during carbonization process of biomass as precursor of condensing gaseous species. When using HMDS to remove the condensing gaseous species by growth machanism of particles, we could be controlled properly particles size such as amount of adsorbent injection, residence time, heating temperature and MFC flux. Especially, in case of using the silica precursor, in consideration of the physical and chemical properties of the boiling point, the specific gravity and the molecular weight, we found that the condensing species could be effectively controlled by particles granulation.

Synthesis of Ga2O3 powders by precipitation method (침전법을 이용한 Ga2O3 분말의 합성)

  • In this study, we investigated synthesis and characteristics of gallium oxide ($Ga_2O_3$) powders prepared by precipitation method. $Ga_2O_3$ powders were synthesized using $Ga(NO_3)_3$ as a starting material and $NH_4OH$ as a precipitant. The oxidation temperature of $Ga(OH)_3$ and phase transition temperature of $Ga_2O_3$ was revealed using TG-DSC analysis. The crystal structural change of $Ga_2O_3$ powders was investigated by XRD analysis. The morphologies and size distributions of $Ga_2O_3$ particles were analyzed using SEM.

Effect of solvent and precursor on the CeO2 nanoparticles fabrication (CeO2 나노 분말 합성에 미치는 용매 및 전구체의 영향)

  • Ceria ($CeO_2$) is a rare earth oxide, which has been widely investigated to improve the property. It is important to increase the surface area of $CeO_2$, because high surface area of $CeO_2$ can improve the catalytic ability. $CeO_2$ nanoparticles were synthesized by a solvothermal process. A discussion on the influence of solvent ratio and precursors on $CeO_2$ nanoparticles was performed. The size and degree of the agglomeration of the synthesized $CeO_2$ could be tuned by controlling those parameters. The average size and distribution of prepared $CeO_2$ powders was in the range of 3 to 13 nm and narrow, respectively. The XRD pattern showed that the synthesized $CeO_2$ powders were crystalline with cubic phase of $CeO_2$. The average particle size was calculated by Scherrer equation and FE-TEM images. The morphology of the synthesized $CeO_2$ particle was objected using FE-TEM and FE-SEM. Specific surface area of the synthesized $CeO_2$ was determined using BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) equation.

  • The VLSI devices of submicron level trend to have a lowering of reliability because of hot carriers by two dimensional influences which are caused by short channel effects and which are not generated in a long channel devices. In order to minimize the two dimensional influences, much research has been made into various types of source/drain structures. MOS typed tunnel transistor with Schottky barrier junctions at source/drain, which has the advantages in fabrication process, downsizing and response speed, has been proposed. The experimental device was fabricated with p type silicon, and manifested the transistor action, showing the unsaturated output characteristics and the high transconductance comparing with that in field effect mode. The results of trial indicate for better performance as follows; high doped channel layer to lower the driving voltage, high resistivity substrate to reduce the leakage current from the substrate to drain.

Parallel Architecture Design of H.264/AVC CAVLC for UD Video Realtime Processing (UD(Ultra Definition) 동영상 실시간 처리를 위한 H.264/AVC CAVLC 병렬 아키텍처 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose high-performance H.264/AVC CAVLC encoder for UD video real time processing. Statistical values are obtained in one cycle through the parallel arithmetic and logical operations, using non-zero bit stream which represents zero coefficient or non-zero coefficient. To encode codeword per one cycle, we remove recursive operation in level encoding through parallel comparison for coefficient and escape value. In oder to implement high-speed circuit, proposed CAVLC encoder is designed in two-stage {statical scan, codeword encoding} pipeline. Reducing the encoding table, the arithmetic unit is used to encode non-coefficient and to calculate the codeword. The proposed architecture was simulated in 0.13um standard cell library. The gate count is 33.4Kgates. The architecture can support Ultra Definition Video ($3840{\times}2160$) at 100 frames per second by running at 100MHz.
