전산유체 기법을 이용한 용존공기부상법에서의 접촉도 조건변화에 따른 충돌효율평가 (Collision Efficiency Estimation in the DAF Contact Zone using Computational Fluid Dynamics)

  • Dissolved air flotation (DAF) is a solid-liquid separation process that uses fine rising bubbles to remove particles in water. Most of particle-bubble collision occurs in the DAF contact zone. This initial contact considered by the researchers to play a important role for DAF performance. It is hard to make up conceptual model through simple mass balance for estimating collision efficiency in the contact zone because coupled behavior of the solid-liquid-gas phase in DAF system is 90 complicate. In this study, 2-phase(gas-liquid) flow equations for the conservation of mass, momentum and turbulence quantities were solved using an Eulerian-Eulerian approach based on the assumption that very small particle is applied in the DAF system. For the modeling of turbulent 2-phase flow in the reactor, the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ mode I(liquid phase) and zero-equation(gas phase) were used in CFD code because it is widely accepted and the coefficients for the model are well established. Particle-bubble collision efficiency was calculated using predicted turbulent energy dissipation rate and gas volume fraction. As the result of this study, the authors concluded that bubble size and recycle ratio play important role for flow pattern change in the reactor. Predicted collision efficiency using CFD showed good agreement with measured removal efficiency in the contact zone. Also, simulation results indicated that collision efficiency at 15% recycle ratio is higher than that of 10% and showed increasing tendency of the collision efficiency according to the decrease of the bubble size.

다항식 회귀분석을 이용한 마이크로 버블의 종말상승속도 모델식 구축 및 운전조건 최적화 (Model setup and optimization of the terminal rise velocity of microbubbles using polynomial regression analysis)

  • 본 연구는 3개의 운전변수(압력, 공기량, 운전시간)를 실험 설계하고 마이크로 버블의 종말부상속도(Terminal rise velocity)를 반응 값으로 하여 예측식 모델과 최적 조건을 수립하였다. 다항식 회귀분석을 통해 펌프의 압력($X_1$) 4.5bar, 공기량($X_2$) 3.3L/min 그리고 운전시간($X_3$)이 2.2min에서 종말상승속도(Terminal rise velocity)에 대한 최적값인 5.14 cm/min ($85.7{\mu}m/sec$)을 얻었다. 또한, 레이저 입자계수 측정장치를 이용하여 $2{\sim}5{\mu}m$$25{\sim}50{\mu}m$ 영역에서의 가장 높은 마이크로버블 직경크기 분포를 확인하였다.

슬릿노즐기반 응집·공기부상공정을 통한 유류폐수 전처리 (Pre-treatment of oily wastewater using a coagulation-DAF process with slit-nozzle)

  • Large amounts of oily wastewater discharged from various industrial operations (petroleum refining, machinery industries and chemical industries) cause serious pollution in the aquatic environment. Although dissolved air flotation (DAF) separating oil pollutants using microbubbles represents current practice, bubble size cannot be selectively controlled, and lots of power is required to generate microbubbles. Therefore, to investigate performance of the DAF process, this study examined the distribution of different sizes of microbubbles resulting from changes in physical shear force via modifying shapes of a slit-nozzle without an additional power supply. Three types of slit-nozzles (different angle, shape and length of the slit-nozzle) were used to analyze the distribution of bubble size. At a slit angle of $60^{\circ}$, shear force was 4.29 times higher than a conventional slit, and particle size distribution (PSD) in the range between 2 and $20{\mu}m$ more than doubled. Treatment efficiency of synthetic oily wastewater through the coagulation-DAF process achieved 90% removal of COD by injecting $FeCl_3$ and PACl of 250 mg/L and 100 mg/L, respectively, and the same performance resulted using $FeCl_3$ of 200 mg/L and PACl of 80 mg/L employing a slit-nozzle angle of $60^{\circ}$. This study shows that a coagulation-DAF process using a modified slit-nozzle can improve the pre-treatment of oily wastewater.

이상난류제트 유동에서 고체입자 난류확산의 수치모델에 관한 연구 (Study on the numerical models of turbulent dispersion of solid particles in a two-phase turbulent jet flow)

  • 본 연구에서는 입자가 부상된 이상난류제트유동에 Einstein의 확산모형, Pes- kin모형, 3-방정식 모형, 4-방정식 모형, 대수응력모형 등을 적용하여 해석하고 각 모 형들의 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 이상난류유동의 수치해석에서 공기는 제1유체유동 으로 하고 첨가되는 고체분말의 흐름은 밀도(.rho.$_{p}$), 층류동점성계수(.nu.$_{p}$), 과점성계수(.nu.$_{pt}$ )를 갖는 제2유체유동의 흐름으로 간주하였다.

해수담수화 전처리로서 DAF공정에서 고온의 해수에 대한 영향 특성 (Temperature Effect in the process of DAF as pretreatment of SWRO)

  • Flocculation and flotation are used as pretreatment steps prior to the reverse osmosis (RO) process. During seawater treatment, high temperature can change the water chemistry of seawater during the process of coagulation. It also affects bubble volume concentration (BVC) and bubble characteristics. Coagulants such as alum and ferric salts at $40^{\circ}C$ can also change flux rates in the seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) process. In this study, the bubble characteristics in dissolved air flotation (DAF), used as a SWRO pretreatment process, were studied in synthetic seawater at $20^{\circ}C$ and $40^{\circ}C$. The flux of an RO membrane was monitored after dosing the synthetic seawater with coagulants at different temperatures. Results showed that BVC increases as the operating pressure increases and as the salt concentration decreases. The bubble size released at $40^{\circ}C$ is far smaller than that at $20^{\circ}C$The addition of a ferric salt is effective for turbidity removal in synthetic seawater at $20^{\circ}C$; it is more effective than alum. When synthetic seawater was dosed with a ferric salt, the RO membrane flux increased by 27 % at $40^{\circ}C$.

비평면 지면을 비행하는 FAST의 정상상태 공력특성 (Steady Aerodynamic Characteristics of FAST Flying over Nonplanar Ground Surface)

  • 경계요소법을 이용하여 동체에 탠덤 날개를 결합한 FAST가 비평면 지면을 비행할 때의 공력 특성을 파악하였다. 본 수치해석 기법을 이용하여 계산한 결과를 실험 및 타 전산해석 결과와 비교하여 검증을 수행하였다. 날개-동체를 결합한 운송체의 공력 특성을 분석하여 안정성 확보 및 충분한 공기부상력을 가지도록 운송체 상부의 탠덤 날개를 배치하는 공력설계를 수행하였다. FAST에서 탠덤 날개가 동체의 전두부와 후두부에 위치하고, 하단 익단판을 설치하였을 때 최대 양력 성능을 얻을 수 있었다. FAST의 안정성은 탠덤날개의 플래퍼론을 이용하여 확보 가능하다.

부상된 수소난류확산화염에서 동축공기의 음향가진에 의한 NOx 저감 (NOx Reduction by Acoustic Excitation on Coaxial Air Stream in Lifted Turbulent Hydrogen Non-Premixed Flame)

  • The effects of acoustic excitation of coaxial air on mixing enhancement and reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission were investigated. A compression driver was attached to the coaxial air supply tube to impose excitation. Measurements of NOx emission with frequency sweeping were performed to observe the trend of NOx emission according to the fuel and air flow conditions and to inquire about the effective excitation frequency for reducing NOx. Then, Schlieren photographs were taken to visualize the flow field and to study the effect of excitation. In addition, phase-locked particle image velocimetry (PIV) was performed to acquire velocity field for each case and to investigate the effect of vortices more clearly. Direct photographs and OH chemiluminescence photographs were taken to study the variation of flame length and reaction zone. It was found that acoustic forcing frequencies close to the resonance frequencies of coaxial air supply tube could reduce NOx emission. This NOx reduction was influenced by mixing enhancement due to large-scale vortices formed by fluctuation of coaxial air jet velocity.

선저 스텝개수에 따른 고속 활주형선의 저항특성 비교 (Comparisons of Resistance Characteristics of the High-speed Planing Craft with Respect to the Number of Bottom Steps)

  • 활주형선은 고속 운항시 선저에 동적압력을 발생시켜 선체를 부상시킴으로서 저항이 감소하게 되어 고속의 항주가 가능하게 된다. 일반적으로 선저에 스텝을 적용한 선형은 일체형 활주형선에 비하여 고속 주행시 선저 공기공급에 따른 접수면 감소로 인하여 전체저항 감소에 따른 속도향상과 연비절감 효과가 있다. 본 논문에서는 고속 선형시험이 가능한 실 해역모형시험을 이용하여 선저 스텝개수에 따른 고속 Stepped Hull 선형의 저항성능을 비교, 분석하였다. 시험결과, 2개의 스텝을 가지는 선형이 최소저항 선형임을 확인할 수 있었다.

부상공정에 의한 수용액으로부터 색 제거 (Colour Removal from Aqueous Solutions by Flotation Process)

  • Column에 공기를 분사시켜 수용액으로부터 색을 제거하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 착색 용액을 제조하기 위해 Basic Yellow 28 및 Direct Orange 31을 사용하였으며, 모든 색은 8분 이내에 제거되었다. Sodium dodecyl sulfate, oleic acid sodium salt 및 amines와 같은 collector는 색 제거에 효과적이었다. 색 제거는 collector의 첨가량과 수용액 pH의 영향을 받는다고 할 수 있으나, 소량의 collector를 첨가하였을 경우에는 pH에 의존하였으나, 많은 양을 첨가하였을 경우에는 pH에 의존하지 않았음을 알 수 있었다.

의사결정 알고리즘을 이용한 DAF 공정 제어에 관한 연구 (A study on dissolved air flotation (DAF) process control using decision algorithm)

  • In this study, we divided the process operation scenarios into three categories based on raw water temperature and turbidity. We will select and operate the process operation scenario according to the characteristics of the raw water. The number of algae in the DAF treated water has been analyzed to be less than 100 cells/mL. These results indicated that the DAF process is effective in removing the algae. In addition, the scenario of the integrated management decision algorithm of the DAF process was developed. DAF pilot plants ($500m^3/day$) process has shown a constantly sound performance for the treatment of raw water, yielding a significantly low level of turbidity (DAF treated water, 0.21~1.56 NTU).
