An Experimental Research for the Development of the Guideline of Low Vibration Hand Tools (저진동 공구 개발 가이드라인 구축을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • The reduction of tool vibration has been a serious issue for both employers and workers because of the risks of vibration transmitted to the workers. In this study a hand-arm vibration measurement and evaluation system was developed based on ISO 5349:2001 and used for analyzing relation of vibration level and components of tools. This system consists of a notebook PC installed a LabVIEW program and the data acquisition system including two 3-axial accelerometers and a NI-DAQ card. Vibration measurement tests were conducted for eight angle grinders and four impact wrenches where 3 subjects were used for each of the tools. The relation between different components of each tool and its vibration total value made it possible to set-up a guideline of tool design. In the past engineers developed tools by using their experience and intuition, but by using this system it became possible to design tool components so as to minimize the risks of hand-transmitted vibration.

A Study on a Ultrasonic Vibration Assisted Grinding of Alumina Ceramic with Diamond Grinding Tool (초음파 진동을 하는 다이아몬드 연삭공구의 알루미나 세라믹 연삭 가공에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, ultrasonic vibration tool designed and made by using FEM analysis. And machining test was carried out in various machining conditions using ultrasonic vibration capable CNC machine. For work material, alumina ceramic ($Al_2O_3$) was used while for tool material diamond electroplated grinding wheel was used. To evaluate ultrasonic vibration effect, grinding test was performed with and without ultrasonic vibration in same machining condition. In ultrasonic mode, ultrasonic vibration of 20kHz was generated by HSK 63 ultrasonic actuator. The two grinding speeds, 1.67m/s and 3.35m/s, were applied. On the other hand, grinding forces were measured by KISTLER dynamometer.

  • 최근 진동 절삭 가공 및 용착 등에 초음파 진동을 동력적으로 응용하려는 시도가 급증하고 있다. 이 분야에서는 진동자에서 발생되는 미소한 진폭의 적은 초음파 에너지를 큰 에너지로변환시키는 방법으로서 진동자의 끝단에 진동자와 동일한 진동수의 고유진동수를 가진 부스터와 tool horn을 부착하여 공진에 의해 진폭의 증폭으로 큰 에너지를 얻고 있다. 그러나 부스터와 tool horndml의 고유 진동수가 진동자의 진동수와 일치하지 않을 경우에는 tool horn 의 끝단에 진동이 전달되지 않는 결과를 초래하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 유한 요소법을 이용하여 축대칭 및 3차원 형상의 tool horn에 대한 고유 진동수 계산 퍼스널 컴퓨터만으로도 tool horn을 설계할 수 있도록 하여 이 결과를 실용 tool horn 설계 제작에 손쉽게 이용할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • Inclined surface milling in the mould and die industries is one of the most commonly needed cutting process. For the variety and complexity of cutting characteristics in various cutting condition, it is difficult to select a optimal tool path orientation. The comparative results through FFT analysis in this study provide a guideline for the selection tool path orientation.

굽힘 곡선을 이용한 공작기계 주축의 취약부 규명

  • 공작기계의 가공정밀도는 공구와 공작물간의 상대변위 크기로서 평가되는데, 이 상대변위는 가공중에 발생 하는 절삭력이 공구-척-주축-기계구조물-안내면-가공테이블-공작물로 이어지는 하중전달 폐곡선을 흐르면서 경로상의 정적, 동적 취약부의 주된 영향을 받아 생기거나 각 요소부품의 변형이 누적되어 생겨난다. 본 연구에서는 주축의 취약부를 규명하기 위하여 정적으로는 정적 처짐곡선을 이용하고, 동적으로는 진동모우드의 굽힘곡선을 이용하여 주축선단의 처짐에 가장 영향을 많이주는 부위를 파악하였다. 취약부의 개선방법으로는 주축지름을 변화시켜 주축선단 근처에서 굽힘이 집중되지 않도록 유도하였다. 그리고 구조개선의 효과를 확인 하기 위해서 기존 주축시스템과 개선 주축시스템의 정적, 동적 특성변화를 비교하였다.

  • 서울 관악구 신림동에 위치한 강남순환도시고속도로 6-1공구, 이곳은 연장 155m의 터널을 뚫는 현장으로, 시공 초기인 현재는 발파작업이 한창 진행되고 있다. 발파작업은 다량의 폭약이 수시로 사용되는 만큼 위험성이 상당히 높은 공정 중 하나다. 하지만 이곳 현장의 모습을 보면 정말 위험공정이 맞나하는 의구심이 들게 된다. 그만큼 안전관리가 철저하다는 얘기다. 수차례에 걸친 시험발파를 통해 진동과 소음을 최소화한 발파작업이 이뤄지고 있으며, 작업 시 대응절차에 나서는 근로자들의 모습도 일사불란하기 그지없다. '안전'으로 터널공사의 새로운 교과서를 만들겠다는 이곳 현장을 찾아가 그들만의 특별한 안전활동을 살펴봤다.

  • This work is concerned with the chatter suppression by inserting viscoelastic materials into tool clamping area. Chatter was observed with and without the viscoelastic materials during cutting tests, where the overhang of the tool was made long so that the tool may be a major cause for the chatter. Two viscoelastic materials were used and the effects of thickness and prestrain were investigated. impact tests were performed on the tool in cases where the tool post was set on the cross slide and was free from any boundary conditions. Material properties of the viscoelastic materials were also obtained from resonance test results. The effects on the chatter suppression by the type of the viscoelastic material and prestrain are discussed in relation with the measured material properties.

  • For fault diagnosis of machines and equipments, knowledge-based method has been used widely but has some limitations for complex systems. These can be covered by model-based method. As one kind of model-based method, Qualitative modeling diagnosis method is developed in this research. The developed method uses output signal only. In this method quantization of the output signal mattes automata which can characterize the flow of the signal pattern to normal and fault respectively. As an example of the qualitative diagnosis method, an electric tool which has faults at gear and bearing were examined in this research. The result shows that the developed method can diagnose the fault clearly for the two fault cases.

  • The main applications of CFRP are sports, aerospace and general industrial uses including automobiles. As this application fields expands the opportunity of machining, but CFRP is difficult to cut because of delamination of the composites and the short tool life. In this paper, the machinability of multidirectional CFRP by means of ultrasonic vibration cutting, which has been verified experimentally investigated.The experimentally to be highly effective in view of cutting force and surface quality.
