A Weighted Least Square Method for Optimization of Thinned Sensor Arrays (희소어레이의 최적화를 위한 계수 최소 자승 방법)

  • This paper concerns a least square method for pattern optimization of a thinned sensor array in which the squared error between a desired pattern and a synthesized one is minimized. A weighting function is applied in the function with respect to the array visual range for a symmetric and asymmetric configuration for sensor spacing. An exponential weighting function is proposed to control the sidelobes efficiently around the mainbeam and to generate a uniform sidelobe. The resulting pattern may be employed to eliminate incoming interferences distributed uniformly around the array visual range.

Analysis of Spatial Crime Pattern and Place Occurrence Characteristics for Building a Safe City (안전도시 조성을 위한 범죄의 공간적 분포와 도시의 장소별 발생특성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of crime prevention in consideration of urban physical environment by analyzing the spatial distribution characteristics and pattern using actual crime occurrence data of the case city. The crime data was rebuilt by transforming them into geographic information system to analyze the spatial aspect of crime occurrence. The findings are as follows: a change from 2008 to 2011 is indicated with similar trend. But the local movements of crime hot spots are found. Moreover crimes were happening along the roads in linear pattern rather than inside of blocks in commercial area. This indicates the importance of environmental improvement of roads and open spaces. In addition it was found that the crime occurrence in a dangerous district can be reduced and prevented through the physical environment design and urban planning. The findings will contribute to promoting fundamental crime prevention as the physical environmental improvement in a city and to building a safe community as its result.

An Alternative Method for Assessing Local Spatial Association Among Inter-paired Location Events: Vector Spatial Autocorrelation in Housing Transactions (쌍대위치 이벤트들의 국지적 공간적 연관성을 평가하기 위한 방법론적 연구: 주택거래의 벡터 공간적 자기상관)

  • It is often challenging to evaluate local spatial association among onedimensional vectors generally representing paired-location events where two points are physically or functionally connected. This is largely because of complex process of such geographic phenomena itself and partially representational complexity. This paper addresses an alternative way to identify spatially autocorrelated paired-location events (or vectors) at a local scale. In doing so, we propose a statistical algorithm combining univariate point pattern analysis for evaluating local clustering of origin-points and similarity measure of corresponding vectors. For practical use of the suggested method, we present an empirical application using transactions data in a local housing market, particularly recorded from 2004 to 2006 in Franklin County, Ohio in the United States. As a result, several locally characterized similar transactions are identified among a set of vectors showing various local moves associated with communities defined.

Mapping Time-distance Cartogram and the Accessibility Analysis in Korea (시간거리 접근성 카토그램 제작 및 접근성 공간구조 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to produce time-distance cartograms based on the various Korean transportation networks, and to analyze the spatial structure of time-distance accessibilities. For the purpose this study attempts to develop continuous area cartogram by utilizing Wolf's algorithm for creating contiguous cartogram in ArcGIS 9. The absolute physical space was transformed to the functional space indexed by time-distances along various transportation networks in Korea. We examined the differences in the time-distance accessibilities among transportation networks. This study makes a comparison between the spatial structure of time-distance accessibility of KTX network with them of existing railroad network, as well as with them of road network. In order to clarify the spatial structures of time-distance accessibilities, we restructured them on the time-distance circular diagrams and performing Multi-Dimensional Scaling analysis. Overall structure of time-distance accessibilities shows similar patterns: The time distances are shrinked a lot along the Seoul-Busan axis, while coastal parts, in particular the eastern part of the county, are shrinked relatively little via all transportation networks. The Road network affects significantly on the accessibilities of cities in Gangwon-do and Gyeonggi-do, while railway network affects on the accessibilities of cities in Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do in general. When we compared the time-distance accessibilities based on the 5 largest cities, Seoul appears as the most accessible city from/to all other cities in Korea. We can also find significant changes in the time-distance accessibility between KTX network and existing railroad network. Cities along the KTX network, in particular cities which has KTX stops, improved significantly in time-distance accessibilities.

  • 다양한 특성의 도시공간의 확장은 경제 활동의 활성화는 물론 도시공간에서의 범죄발생 확대로 이어지고 있다. 이에 따라 국민의 생명과 재산보호, 사회질서유지 등을 위한 각종 대책과 경찰의 역할을 확대되고 있으나 효율적인 범죄예방 활동이 부족한 상태이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 체계적인 범죄 모니터링을 위한 기초연구의 일환으로 도시공간에서의 범죄가 발생하는 공간에 대한 패턴을 이해하고 분석하여 도시 내 안전구역을 분석하여 GIS 공간분석기법의 효용성을 나타내었다.

  • 가상 현실을 이용한 게임 환경은 하드웨어의 한계로 게임 속의 가상현실 공간에 비해 실제 유저가 활동하는 게임공간은 한정되어져 있다. 이러한 물리적인 한계는 게임의 내용을 제한시키게 되고, 공간 안에서 반복된 패턴을 느끼게 해 게임 레벨 디자인에 한계를 가져오게 된다. 이에 물리적으로 한정된 공간에 대해 게임 속에 다양한 공간 디자인을 설계하고 실험을 통해 통해 공간의 감성적 한계를 극복해보려 하였다.

  • This paper proposes an efficient image description method for image retrieval using circular scanning pattern. Therefore, we place the origin of the circular scanning pattern on center point of an image and describe spatial color features of the image using the pattern. The features are Circular Dominant Color, Circular Color Texture, and Circular Color Variation Plot. By the method we can describe color and spatial information of the image at a time, efficiently. Therefore, we can reduce the computational expense and memory usage needed to index the image more than the conventional one does.

  • Conventional binary adder requires a carry propagation to the most significant bit, and leads to serial addition. However, optical adder using a modified signed digit(MSD) number system has been Proposed to reduce the carry propagation chain encountered in binary adder. In this paper, in order to minimize the number of symbolic substitution(SS) rules, nine input patterns were divided into five groups of the same addition results. For recognizing the input reference patterns, serial connections of joint spatial encoded patterns and masks without any other spatial operations are used.

  • 캐쉬를 사용하는 분산 공유 메모리 시스템에서는 캐쉬들 사이의 일관성 유지를 위한 지연 시간이 성능에 큰 영향을 미친다. 최근에는 각 공유 메모리의 일반적인 접근 패턴을 학습하여 일관성 유지의 예측적 수행을 가능하게 하는 메모리 공유 패턴 예측기가 연구되고 있다. 기존의 메모리 공유 패턴 예측기는 패턴 정보를 저장하기 위해서 모든 메모리 블락마다 예측 테이블들을 할당하지만 실제로 성능 향상에 도움을 주는 테이블들은 소수에 불과하다. 본 논문에서는 적은 양의 패턴 저장 공간을 사용하면서 기존의 예측기와 유사한 성능을 낼 수 있는 캐쉬 구조의 메모리 공유 패턴 예측기를 제안한다, 제안된 예측기에서는 좋은 성능을 내는 예측 테이블들을 선택적으로 저장하게 하는 효율적인 테이블 교체 기법이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 LRU 교체 기법을 캐쉬 구조의 예측기에 적용시켰을 때의 문제점을 분석하고 제안된 예측기의 특성에 적합한 테이블 교체 기법을 제안한다.

  • 최근 패턴인식분야에서 성능향상을 목적으로 개별인식기들을 결합하거나 동적 선택에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 인식기를 동적으로 선택하는 경우에는 전체 학습패턴으로부터 학습한 개별 인식기를 이용하거나 클러스터링 알고리즘을 이용하여 학습패턴들을 특징공간에서의 부 영역으로 분할한 다음 각 클래스를 하나의 영역과 대응하는 방법이 사용되어 왔다. 이러한 접근방법에서는 각 패턴의 지역적인 정보를 이용하기 때문에 클래스 사이의 결정 경계부분에 대한 지역적인 정보를 이용하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 학습패턴의 지역적 영역에 대한 마이크로 인식기를 설계하여 임의의 테스트 패턴에 대한 지역적 영역에서 가장 성능이 좋은 인식기를 동적으로 선택하여 인식 성능을 향상시키는 방법을 제안한다.
