  • An experimental investigation on the strength and behaviour of reinforced concrete columns using high performance fiber reinforced cement composites has been carried out. The columns were subjected to monotonic axial compression until failure. The variables in this study are the combination ratio of steel cord(SC) and Polyethylene (PE), and the volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcement Test results showed that the fibers, when used in a hybrid form, could result in superior composite performance compared to their individual fiber reinforced cement composites.

  • Structural performance of the seismic devices made by steel bar and high performance fiber reinforced cement composites(HPFRCCs) was experimentally observed. These dampers will be applied for reducing damage as well as seismic response. The advantages of the HPFRCCs damper is selective structural performance, strength, stiffness, and ductility by changing configuration, bar arrangements and type of materials used. The experimental results indicate that elemental ductility is much increased with decreasing damage when the HPFRCCs are applied to the damper. It means cementitious damper for structural control is available which has much merit in performance and cost.

  • This paper presnets the tensile behavior of 8 high performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (HPFRCCs) members, each reinforced with one deformed bar 16mm in diameter. The variables included HPFRCC(Ductal, steel cord and polyethylene hybrid fiber, PE fiber) versus normal concrete. Fibers used in HPFRCC significantly increased tensile strength, ductility, and tension stiffening of cementitious materials. For HPFRCC, after first cracking, tensile load continue to rise without fracture localization. Sequentially developed parallel cracks contributed to the inelastic strain at increasing stress level. After yielding of the reinforcing bars, HPFRCC showed increases in loads with increasing strains.

  • The primary role of fibers in High performance fiber reinforced cement composites(HPFRCCs) is to improve the toughness, or energy absorption capacity, of the composite material, However, there is still no general agreement as to how this toughness should be characterized, or how it might be used in the design of structures containing HPFRCCs. In this paper, therefore, we focus on test techniques for measuring flexural toughness. For mechanical properties, HPFRCCs can be tested in the same way as fiber reinforced concrete(FRC). Both the significance and the limitations of somewhat different national and industrial standards of FRC are discussed. For flexural toughness, with depend on the presence of fibers, new test methods was developed and verified. We also suggest evaluation method of tensile toughness indices using the moment curvature relationship in flexural tests.

  • This paper discusses the role of micro and macrofibers in the workability, compressive strength, and failure of cementitious composites. Workability(flow), compressive strength, splitting strength and fracture mechanism of hybrid fiber reinforced cement composites(HFRCC) have been investigated by means of Korean Standard (KS). The specific blend pursued in this investigation is a combination of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) and steel cord. It was demonstrated that a hybrid combination of steel and PVA enhances fiber dispersion compared to only steel cord reinforced cement composites and that the brittle and wide cracking was much reduced in HFRCC as expected because in the matrix containing the PVA fiber around the steel cord, a multiple microcracking occurred and the steel cord could sufficiently work for bridging the cracked surface.

  • This paper discusses how steel cord and PVA hybrid fibers enhance the performance of high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites (HPRFCC) in terms of elastic limit, strain hardening response and post peak of the composites. The effect of microfiber(PVA) blending ratio is presented. For this purpose flexure, direct tension and split tension tests were conducted. It was found that HFRCC specimen shows multiple cracking in the area subjected to the greatest bending tensile stress. Uniaxial tensile test confirms the range of tensile strain capacity from 0.5 to $1.5\%$ when hybrid fiber is used. The cyclic loading test results identified a unique unloading and reloading response for this ductile composite. Cyclic loading in tension appears not to affect the tensile response of the material if the uniaxial compressive strength during loading is not exceeded.

  • HPFRCCs(High performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites) exhibit characteristics of strain harding and multiple crack. These lead to improvement in ductility, toughness, and deformation capacity under compressive and tensile stress. These properties of HPFRCCs are affected by type of fiber, size of sand. Furthermore these influence compress strength and flexural strength. Therefore experimental study on the mechanical properties of HPFRCCs using PVA fiber was carried out. In this paper, HPFRCCs made of PVA fiber were tested with size of sand, strength of concrete to evaluate characteristics of compressive strength and flexural strength.

  • In this study, experimental research was carried out to evaluate steel reinforced ECC (Engineered Cementitious Composites) column, which exhibits excellent crack control property and highly ductile behavior. Ordinary portland cement and high volume fly ash were used as binding materials in the mixture proportions for the purpose of achieving a high level of multiple cracking property with the tightly controlled crack width. To compare with the cyclic behavior of steel reinforced ECC column specimen, a conventional reinforced concrete column was prepared and tested under reversed cyclic loading condition. Based on the cyclic load test, ECC column exhibited higher cyclic behavior, compared to the conventional RC column, in terms of load carrying capacity and energy dissipation capacity.
