Growth and N, P removal efficiency of Chlorella vulgaris according to the nitrogen sources and pH condition (질소원 및 pH 조절빈도에 따른 Chlorella vulgaris의 성장특성 및 하수고도처리능 평가)

  • This study aimed to investigate growth rate and nutrient removal efficiency of Chlorella vulgaris according to nitrogen sources and frequency of pH adjustment. Nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiencies were evaluated in the three different conditions using $NO_3{^-}$, $NH_4{^+}$ as a sole nitrogen source and mixed condition. Initial nutrient concentrations in artificial wastewater were 30 mg-N/L and 3 mg-P/L similar to secondary wastewater effluent. When nitrogen source was $NO_3{^-}$, there was no inhibition on the growth of C. vulgaris with adjusting pH every 24 hr while growth inhibition occurred with $NH_4{^+}$ caused by pH drop. N, P removal efficiencies were no significant depending on the nitrogen sources. As pH was adjusted to 7 by pH-stat, growth rate and nutrient removal efficiencies were increased compared to adjusting pH every 24 hr, however, growth rate and nutrient removal efficiencies were no significant depending on the nitrogen sources.

  • The asphalt concrete pavement takes various advantages of better riding quality, serviceability and easier maintenance. At the same time, it addresses a weak point of the premature failures due to rapid increasement of traffic volume, heavy vehicles and high temperature in summer. It increases the expenditure of maintenance and repair. In order to improve the performance of asphalt pavement avoiding this premature failure, the use reinforcements with geosynthetics have been considered. Geosynthetics are known as an effective reinforcement to restrain fatigue and reflective cracks in asphalt pavements. In this study, a comprehensive parametric study is conducted to capture the efficiency of geosynthetic-reinforcements using viscoelastic properties of the asphalt concrete(AC) layer. The investigated parameters were reinforcement location, AC layer thickness, temperature distribution across the AC layer and modulus of AC and base layer. As a result of observations, that reinforced asphalt concrete could be used effectively for improving resistance against fatigue cracks and permanent deformation. Especially, when a geogrid was placed at the interface between the asphaltic base and the subbase, tensile stress in the horizontal direction was significantly reduced.

  • In the environment of rapid economic growth and industrialization, the development of technology gave convenience and benefit to human life. Meanwhile, natural ecosystem broke down, and consumption of many natural resources and energy brought serious environmental pollution. Not a few countries have tried to protect their environments. Even in Korea, the efforts for the protection of environment has been is progress in the various fields. Also, in the field of product design, which is related to environment and conservation of resources, researches for green product has been promoted. To the people who recognized the environmental problems, the importance of green product has been attended. Green product has been known to a proper solution to the problem of pollution in biological and environmental aspects. Thus it is needed that green product should be developed and used by the people more than plain product. In this perspective, this study examines the current situation of the environmental protection movement in other countries on the pollution, and researhed the development of green products. And based on these researches, the proper design direction for design for green product will be proposed.

High Density Cultivation of Rotifer, Brachionus rotundiformis in the Different Diets (먹이종류에 따른 Rotifer, Brachionus rotundiformis의 고밀도 배양)

  • The experiment was carried out in a 10 $\ell$ vessel in order to evaluate the growth and nutritional quality of rotifer, Brachienus rotundiformis fed by different diets (Freshwater Chlorella, Marine Chlorella and $\omega$-yeast) for the high density cultivation. The maximum densities for the rotifer fed on the marine Chlorella, freshwater Chlorella and $\omega$-yeast were $10,900\~12,400,\;9,190\~10,600$ and 2,390$\~$2,750 inds./ml, respectively. Therefore, the maximum densities for the rotifer fed on the marine Chlorella and freshwater Chlorella were higher than that for rotifer fed on the $\omega$-yeast The essential n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acid in rotifer fed on the marine Chlorella was $8.71\%$ which was slightly lower than that in rotifer fed on the $\omega$-yeast, $9.14\%$, while it was higher than that in the rotifer fed on freshwater Chlorella, $4.45\%$. This result indicated that marine Chlorella could be appropriate diet for the high density cultivation of rotifer.

  • The demand for platinum group metals for various advanced industries has been growing due to their excellent physical and chemical properties. Since the deposit of platinum minerals are restricted to few countries, their recovery from various secondary resources has becomes an important issue to related industries for keeping the supply reliably. In this paper, patents on the metallurgical technologies for the platinum group metals were analyzed. The search of patent was limited to the open patents of USA (US), European Union (EP), Japan (IP), and Korea (KR) from 1986 to 2006. Patents were surveyed using key-words searching and selected by filtering criteria. The trend of patents was analyzed by the years, countries, companies, and technologies.

  • High growth of economy and industrial development was produced every air pollutants, that is, SOx, NOx, dust, VOCs and malodorous gas was produced. Recently, volatile organic compounds(VOCs) was bring about very serious environmental problems. Ulsan petrochemical complex was densely a large scale of petrochemical plant. This study was carried out to select treatment equipment of VOCs produced from petrochemical plant, and has compared with Carbon filter, Regenerative thermal oxidation(RCO) and Flare stack for technical merit and demerit but also initial investment and operating cost.

An Analysis of Factors Affecting the Variation of GDP Gap by a Decomposition Method (GDP갭 분해기법을 이용한 변동요인 분석)

  • The GDP gap (also called the output gap) is the difference between potential GDP and actual GDP. Potential GDP is the maximum sustainable output that is achieved when the resources (labor and capital) are used to capacity. Central banks pursuing price and employment stability consider the output gap as an informative variable for monetary policy since the output gap could be regarded as a proxy of demand-supply imbalances. In this paper, the GDP gap of Korea is decomposed following the filtering method in the previous research, and major factors that affect the variation of GDP gap are investigated based on the decomposed series. The analysis results by the Super Smoother algorithm used in Fox et al. (2003)and Fox and Zurlinden (2006) are found consistent with theory. Much of the variation of nominal GDP gap is explained by Total Factor Productivity(TFP) gap, which is the change of productivity due to recent technological innovation and environmental change. It is also found that variation of terms of trade significantly affects the GDP gap of Korea due to its high dependency on international trade; however, the effect of the domestic price is not negligible like other countries.

  • Epidermal growth facter(EGF)는 내열성이 강하고 분자량이 6045 dalton인 단쇄상의 polypeptide로써, Cohen에 의해 생쥐의 악하선에서 처음 발견된 이래, 여러학자들에 의해 많은 연구가 되어왔다. 인체의 EGF는 urogastrone이라고도 불리우며, 인체의 소변에서 처음 검출되었고 분자구조 및 생리작용이 생쥐의 EGF와 매우 유사한 것으로 판명되었다. EGF의 자세한 작용기전은 확실히 규명되어있지는 않지만 세포의 증식과 분화를 촉진시키며 위산의 분비를 억제시킨다고 알려져 있다. 또한 EGF receptor는 분자량이 170,000${\sim}$180,000dalton인 세포표면의 polypeptide로써 인체, 쥐, 닭, 소 등의 세포막조직에 특이하게 결합되어 있다. 최근 수년동안 몇몇 학자들에 의해 EGF가 배아와 태아 및 태반의 성장을 촉진시키고 chorionic gonadotrophin과 placental lactogen의 분비를 증진하는데 기여할 것이라고 가정되어 왔다. 그러나 아직까지 배아착상에 대한 EGF의 작용여부에 관해서는 발표된 문헌이 없어 저자는 radioreceptor assay를 이용하여 EGF receptor binding과 토끼의 배아착상과의 관계를 규명하고자 임신경과에 따른 착상부위와 비착상부위의 자궁 및 태아측 태반과 모체측 태반을 분리취득하고 receptor binding assay를 시행하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 전임신군과 비임신군의 자궁조직의 membrane fraction으로부터 specific한 EGF receptor binding이 관찰되었다. 2. 착상전 임신 3일에 자궁조직의 EGF receptor수는 4.72 +0.16($10\;mol/{\mu}g$)로 비임신시보다 의의있게 증가되어 있었고(p<0.01), 착상시기인 임신 7일에는 착상된 부위에서 20.33+6.58로 훨씬 더 높은 측정치를 나타내었다(p<0.05). 3. 착상이후 가장 먼저 취득된 임신 14일의 태아측 태반은 모체측 태반의 1.39+0.49에 비해 훨씬 높은 11.94+1.97의 EGF receptor 측정치를 보였다 (p<0.01). 4. 이상의 소견들로 보아 EGF가 토끼의 배아착상에 밀접한 관련이 있을 것으로 추측되며, 이러한 착상전후의 EGF의 작용은 태아측으로부터 일 것으로 예상된다.

  • Distribution channels are changing its industry paradigm from quantitative increase to qualitative improvement. In addition, it incorporates new characteristics and consumption tread of customers and the core value of service is developing focused around on online to offline (O2O) business model of omnichannel. In this respect, companies are integrating various distribution channels and in order to provide high content business service to customers, their interest in finding a new business strategy is increasing. Currently, most of the service being provided to customers are formed based on distribution structure centered around big companies and financial industry and the problems faced by small to medium and micro enterprises, which are expansion and improvement of channels, discovery of new distribution channels and finding O2O marketing strategy, can be said as very important task. Accordingly, this research purports to create added values which can serve as the driving force of growth of "creative economy" by improving distribution channels in which anyone who incorporates needs of smart consumers can enter into the smart commerce market and to further form sustainable win-win market that is strategic through business platforms for small to medium and micro enterprises therefrom.

The Relationships between Control Systems, Reactions, and Performances of Customer-Contact Service Employees (서비스 판매요원의 통제, 반응 그리고 성과의 관계)

  • Only service organizations providing service quality above customers' anticipations have survived and developed in hyper competitive environment. These organizations are more dependent on their customer-contact service employees than those providing tangible products, because of the characteristics of service, intangibility, inseparability, heterogeneity, and perishability. But few researches focused on the efficient managements or controls of service organizations in this context. Therefore, author aimed at understanding of the determinants of service organizations' control system(i.e., characteristics of service), service employees' reaction on control types(i.e., service employees' role stress), and their performance(perceived service quality by customers). First the concepts of service quality and control systems are described. Specially, author explained the differences between service quality and service satisfaction or service attitude, and the control system types and their fundamental ideologies. Second, some propositions are provided according to integrated framework developed in this paper: (1)control types according to the characteristics of service, (2)influences of control systems on employees' reactions and (3)perceives service quality by the customers, and (4)relationships between the reactions and the service quality. This paper concludes with a summary, a discussion of theoretical and managerial implications, and several suggestions for future directions.
