This study aims to propose a set of guidelines for the development of university librarians' continuing education program. It examines previous academic literature regarding such programs both in Korea and overseas, as well as the present condition and demands of Korean university librarians. A survey was conducted by systematically sampling 33.3% of all university librarians nationwide and asking about their experiences with the existing continuing education program(e. g., general satisfaction level, program topics, program administration, evaluation methods, outreach methods, reasons for participation). The survey results show that the participants: (1) had a relatively low satisfaction level; (2) strongly demand programs focusing on library promotion, management of information resources and knowledge content, and skills to adiust to the rapidly changing library environment; (3) prefer a week-long course focused on specialized subjects and skill development; and (4) cite more specialized education content, the establishment of a support system, and diversified education levels as factors that would further their interest in the continuing education program.

The purpose of this study is to develop the continuing education program for records managers. To reach the goal of this study, literature review and a survey was undertaken. Through literature review, essential knowledge areas of records manager were observed. The survey was also performed by 57 records managers in Korea to understand needs and satisfactions of the continuing education. In conclusion, this study suggested the continuing education program model including education contents, teaching methods, duration of lecture time, and lecturers etc.

The purpose of this study proposes continuing education program development for disability services librarian training. To this end, there was researched and analysed the Curriculum for the librarian disability service training courses and the library services with disability and LIS curriculums in abroad and domestic. Based on the research results obtained by the more comprehensive study developed a model for continuing education programs to strengthen disability services librarian competencies. Models were divided program is being offered to Track 1, 2. There are Education types which are organized cyber-shaped form of education training, set-type training, and was organized in blended learning.

As the library and information environment advanced, librarians should participate in continuing education programs for the improvement of services to satisfy users' need. To develop a curriculum model of continuing education for academic librarians, we reviewed related previous studies and continuing education programs performed both in Korea and overseas. Then. a survey was done to the academic librarians sampled systematically to identify the subject need for education. Based on the analysis, 2 sets of comprehensive curriculum were devised for the middle managers and working librarians respectively. The curriculum for the middle managers is consisted of 27 courses in 9 subject fields. and the curriculum far the working librarians is consisted of 25 courses in 7 subject fields. We selected one highly demanding subject from each curriculum, and developed specific educational program models. 'Library marketing' for middle managers and 'building and management of digital information resources' for working librarians. Program models include educational goal, content, teaching/learning strategies. duration time, teaching methods/tools, and instructor qualifications in detail. Finally, recommendations are suggested for the promotion and settlement of the continuing education.

The purposes of this study are 1)to analyze a needs of re-education & continuous education for R&D human resources 2)to systemize the existing education program and 3)to provide useful implications to help the politics for re-education & continuous education for R&D human resources. The survey to R&D human resources in universities, government-supported research institutes and industries was conducted for analyzing the needs of R&D human resources for the existing education programs through investigation for the current state and importance & satisfaction level for the existing program. For proposing the effective education program, the barrier and improvement factors of re-education program were examined as well. In addition, the needs for the government support policies for re-education program were also analyzed.

In the era of electronic records management, today's record management environment is rapidly evolving. Therefore, this study aims to suggest improvement plans for continuing education that allows archivists to acquire knowledge and skills in the dynamic records management environment. Thus, this study analyzed an archivist's work characteristics and proved the necessity of continuing education in a changing record management environment. Furthermore, the United States' continuing education curriculum and the United Kingdom's Archives and Records Association (ARA) were analyzed. Based on this, the researchers compared and analyzed the curriculum of continuing education locally and abroad and suggested ways to improve continuing education suitable for local records professionals.

The purpose of this study was to examine the current development of continuing professional education for librarians with particular foci on online learning and professional competencies. It analyzed the current online training programs at the National Library of Korea along with on-site programs in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses. It also examined best practices of online continuing education abroad where more diverse and interactive delivery methods, such as webinars and webcasts, are used to inform latest and practical topics in the field. It found online training programs are not complementing but playing major roles in continuing professional education. The study also examined the current trends that library continuing educational institutions are applying core competencies schemes to continuing education programs in order to systemize their programs and to strengthen individual librarians' professional competencies.

For this. this study conducted a questionnaire survey of children's librarians on current status of the children's services, the backgrounds of children's librarians and their needs for the continuing education. Based on the survey results. this study suggested a continuing education program, including content and policy for the children's librarians.

The study investigated the continuing education program desirable for the academic librarian under digital circumstances. For this purpose the study investigated the education programs provided by the National Library of Korea, the American Library Association, and the Association of Research Libraries, and also undertook a questionnaire survey of academic librarians in Korea. As a result the study suggested user instruction, information retrieval, electronic licensing etc. as programs needed most by the academic librarians. And also suggested intellectual freedom, disaster planning, cooperation with faculty, presentation and teaching skill as desirable to be included in the continuing education program.

This paper proposes a continuing educational program for librarian, as to reinforce the professionalism. It researches the previous educational attainments of undergraduates who studied library science. Then it analyses the current continuing programs of the National Library of Korea and librarians' demands for the program. The research also compares ALA and SLA as foreign cases of continuing programs, and their trends observed from the newly opened sessions. This paper, therefore, reports a series of educational contents in library science by their subjects. The proposed curriculum includes subjects including electronic publishing and copyrights, Future of Library, Taxonomy and controlled vocabulary, Patent Information. Science Information Literacy, Open Access Program, The Value of Library, Licensed Issues, Customer Service program etc.
