  • This study examined university students' view on the importance of attending rituals of congratulation or condolence in social life, and the extent to which they recognized the manners of offering congratulation or condolence. It also looked into the plans and content of education on such manners required by the students. The study aimed at seeking a direction for education on the manners of offering congratulation or condolence in order to help the students acquire an appropriate conception of offering congratulation or condolence and contribute to firmly establishing a sound culture of conveying congratulation or condolence. The following results were obtained in the study. 1. One a five-point scale, university students' recognitions of the importance of attending rituals of congratulation or condolence were revealed as follows: attending condolence rituals(4.55) > attending wedding ceremonies(4.30) > visiting sick acquaintances(4.03) > attending birthday parties (3.50) > attending openings(3.47) > attending promotion or retirement parties(3.42). 2. One a five-point scale, university students' recognitions of the manners of offering congratulation or condolence in social life were as follows: the manners of attending condolence rituals(4.20) > the manners of attending wedding ceremonies(4.06) > the manners of attending promotion or retirement parties(3.9) > the manners of attending openings(3.80) > the manners of attending birthday parties(3.69) > the manners of visiting sick acquaintances(3.44). 3. One a five-point scale, university students' requirements for the content of education on the manners of conveying congratulation and condolence were as follows: education on the manners of attending condolence rituals(4.08) > education on the manners of visiting sick acquaintances(3.35) > education on the manners of attending wedding ceremonies(3.27) > education on the manners of attending promotion and retirement parties(2.96) > education on the manners of attending birthday parties(2.91) > education on the manners of attending openings(2.91). 4. One a five-point scale, university students' requirements for the plan for education on the manners of conveying congratulation and condolence were as follows: 'The education content should be applicable in real life'(4.42) > 'The education content should be easily understandable' (4.23) > 'Information or materials related to the education content should be easily accessible'(4.01) > 'The theory and actual practice of education should be taught in parallel' (3.96) > 'Education related materials should be utilized'(3.92) > 'Students' demands should be reflected when structuring the content of education'(3.91). 5. The study examined the relationship among university students' recognitions of the importance of attending rituals of congratulation or condolence, their recognitions of the manners of offering congratulation or condolence, and their demands regarding such manners. According to the results, a static relationship was found in all sub-areas, indicating students show higher recognition of practicing manners of conveying congratulation or condolence as they have higher recognition of attending rituals of congratulation or condolence in social life. In addition, higher recognition of practicing manners of conveying congratulation or condolence made them demand more for the necessity of plan and content of education on the manners of offering congratulation or condolence in university.

  • The most important aspect in preserving ancient paintings is to return the painting to the original state and conserve it in the original state. One traditional recovering method is the use of frame, for which scientific analysis such as X-rays, infrared and microscope are used and materials are carefully selected. Arhat, a Buddhist painting of Koryo Dynasty, one of the Korean National Museum collections has lost its original shape. With conservation treatment, the cause was found, that is to change frame scroll method to mounting method. In the main body, pre-analysis and conservation method of Arhat will be introduced.

  • The gilded bronze Sarria reliquary(National Treasure No. 325-1) excavated from a five story tower in Songlim Temple is considered as a very important Sarria reliquary of Unified Silla Dynasty Kingdom along with glass Sarria containers excavated in package. It was found that this Sarria container was in a very weak condition in the conservation dept. of National Museum of Korea due to the wearing of the inside wood and the decay of the gilded bronze, so a conservation treatment was conducted by focusing on the prevention of further decay and wearing. Also because there is little information about Sarria reliquary, detailed investigation by means of precision actual measurements, microscopic examination and X-ray photography was carried out.

  • Light-weight conductive polymer composites were prepared by incorporating polyheterocycles such as polypyrrole and polythiophene into pores of a highly porous cross-linked polystyrene, host polymer, to form a conductive network. The highly hydrophobic and porous host polymer was synthesized by concentrated emulsion polymerization method. Polypyrrole-based composites, prepared by employing ferric chloride-methanol system, showed a conductivity as high as 0.82 S/cm. Conductivity of polythiophene-based composites, prepared from ferric chloride-acetonitrile system, was 6.05 S/cm. Conductivity of compositivity was influenced by the initial molar ratio of oxidant to monomer as well. SEM micrographs of the composites showed that conducting polymer coated uniformly the inside wall of the porous host polymer. Shielding effectiveness of the polypyrrole-based composites and of the polythiophene-based composites were 15.2 dB and 22.5 dB at 2.0 GHz, respectively. In the temperature range from 20 to 300K, a polypyrrole impregnated composite exhibited seimiconducting behavior and followed the variable range hopping(VRH) model for charge transport.

  • We have investigated and conserved three small Buddha statues dating from Joseon period that were purchased by the National Museum of Korea. Chemical analysis and investigation of internal structures were enabled us to identify its compositions and hollow spaces which have various materials just like fabrics, silver ornaments, beads and wood fragments. The fabrics date from the early years of the Joseon dynasty to the middle one. The compositions of matrix of the Buddha statues vary 80-90 wt% Ag and 7-15 wt% Cu. And its surface layers were gilt with amalgam. Mechanical and chemical cleaning with EDTA-2Na were applied together during the cleaning process.

  • It is used for the epoxy resin, a mixture of various fillers conservation of cracks of the stone cultural heritage. Such as conservation treatment is need to for long-term conservation. However, field research and experiments on the conservation treatment results when included 54 cases of talc filler was confirmed that the damage, such as discoloration and cracks. The field research is talc was used to determine whether the reports and conservator interviews conducted, microscopy, ICP analysis of the samples collected from the field site. Experiments is color difference measurement and Ultrasonic measurement were arried out, and artificial weathering tests to investigate the effect of talc. As a result, lower the property of matter of the samples containing the talc. Therefore, we propose that the selection process is not allowed to use talc as the filler of stone powder filler cracks is conservation treatment.

  • As foreign immigrants are rapidly increasing, how they without previous knowledge and experience adjust themselves to local circumstances where they come to live becomes a major social issue. In order to analyze their adjustment process, this paper suggests a model which consists of relationships with local environment and people on the one hand, and of geographical knowledge and imagination on the other. The analysis of questionnaire survey based on the conceptual model suggests some findings. As there are considerable differences in the extent of their local adjustment and felt difficulties among immigration types, nationalities, and dwelling regions, foreign immigrants‘ policies should be devised proper for their type and characters.

  • "Buliseonrando," meaning "Buddhist virtues and the orchid are one and the same," was painted by Chusa Kim Jeong-hee. Four appreciation sentences are written in various fonts around the orchid drawn in the center of the painting, along with a total of 15 seals stamped. Hyperspectral image analysis(HSI), microscopy, and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) were conducted with a focus on the seals and the parts of the painting that have been applied with a conservation treatment. As a result of the analyses, the seals were classified into two types-seals with or without barium content. Stamp shade was identified only in five of themstamps, which allows the assumption that the composition and material characteristics of the stamp inks varied depending on the period. In particular, hyperspectral image analysis confirms traces of conservation treatment on the seals and the lost parts identified in addition to the 15 seals, which also demonstrates the utility of hyperspectral image analysis.
