A Case Study of Broadcasting Contents Using One Source Multi Use Strategy (사례 분석을 통한 방송콘텐츠 OSMU의 고찰 - OSMU 이론적 정립 및 비즈니스분류를 중심으로 -)

  • In this study, we investigated broadcasting industry in Korea and in U.S. to find out what mostly makes the broadcasting industry competitive for the near future. One source multi use(from now on OSMU) marketing strategy is important when discussing profits of broadcasting contents. To develop a theoretical and academic framework of OSMU, 14 experts participated in focus group interview. A new meaning of OSMU is defined and 4 types of OSMU business models are developed in the study. Also, two successful examples of broadcasting contents, each from Korea and U.S., were analyzed with the models that we have developed. Lastly, we discussed how to enhance the competitiveness of broadcasting contents and industry by using the benefit-maximizing-strategies of OSMU.

An Empirical Study on the Relationship among Firm Characteristics, Human Resources and Investment Strategies of Korean Private Venture Capitals (한국 벤처캐피탈의 조직상황적 특성, 인적자원 특성 및 투자전략 간의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • There are many different types of risk capital competing for deals in the korean entrepreneurial capital market. In the past, even though korean private venture capitalists did not have their distinctive competitive advantages, due to government support and subsidies, they could be survived in the market. However, the government controlled area has changed to a market driven area which emphasizes market forces and competition rather than support and protection. In order to be competitive, Korean private venture capital firms need to recruit high calibre professionals and build required financial skills for wise entrepreneurial investments. The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationships among firm characteristics, human resources, and investment strategies of korean venture capital firms. We can find that the asset size of venture capital firms has a positive effect on the size of their human resources. However, we can not find any relationship between firm characteristics and investment strategies of venture capitals. Even though we find some evidences among some variables, we need to interpret the results very carefully. Further research would be needed to carried out to clarify the disputable interpretations and our understanding of this area.

  • The current media and content situation is increasingly more competitive and under the radical environment changes, the social & financial position of regional broadcasting companies has been threatened. The internet & mobile based platforms and smart media, however, bring a new opportunity of content distribution. This study analyzes the current status of MBCNET which is the superstation of regional MBC stations and specialists interviews to develop the content distribution strategies of regional broadcasting companies. According to the following: finance, ratings, and new media distribution analysis, the MBCNET outcome is deemed successful based on the content library and regional power. MBCNET utilized opportunity to develop strong content resources and distribution power. In order to maintain its competitive edge, MBCNET needs to adopt the following strategies: content and platform marketing power, research & development of competitive content based on user behavior analysis, and reorganization that is able to counteract N-screen circumstances.

A Study of Universal Web Navigation Design (유니버설 디자인 개념의 웹 네비게이션 디자인에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, I suggested a new model of universal web navigation design which can enhance users' web usability. I would like to prove that when users enjoy web navigation design, they access information much more effectively. Using a survey, I suggest some types of web navigation design for users. After that, I conducted an experiment with 4 types of web navigation designs, which have been developed to reflect varying stages of comprehensibility. My survey focused on three points. First I measured the time they spent to search for information. Second, I tested whether they lost their way while searching for information and if they did lose their way, I checked whether they could recover from their errors and find their way back. Third, I investigated whether layout, location and size of the web navigation design factors affected usability. The results of my survey indicated that users spend the shortest time, have the easiest interface, and have least error incidence under the web navigation design to enhance old-aged users' web usability. Thus, developing a universal web navigation design can encourage people to be more involved with the internet.

  • Current situations, such as IMF crisis, WTO agreement and decrease of construction market, demand changes to construction companies. To meet the situation, they focus on the value of the intangible assets to improve their competitive power. In Korea, Various institutes estimate the construction company in accordance with their Purposes. But their estimating method has limitations to know the potential value of the company because they don't much concentrate on characteristics of construction industry and intangible assets. This study was peformed to introduce the methodology of estimating intangible assets of company and to show the state of intangible asset of major construction companies in Korea. Market Capitalization Method(MCM) was used to calculate intangible assets and all data are based on Annual Business Report.

  • As science and technology are the core engines of economic and social affairs, it is becoming increasingly necessary to explore new promising technologies in order to secure competitiveness in science and technology with a view to helping upgrade the country's overall competitiveness and promoting industrial development. The governments of major advanced countries provide R&D support for promising future technologies. Even in South Korea, a study is being carried out to set up a model for forecasting future technologies and reinforcing the relevant survey system. This study intends to explore methods of identifying promising future technologies in the bio-science sector, which has emerged as a new growth engine. It will use a text-mining technique to collect and analyze theses in the bio science sector. It will identify key research sectors by analyzing thesis contour lines, and then review promising future key research subjects through in-depth study.

  • The innovation is an important element controlling national economic growth and the competitive power reinforcement of the company. The developed nations concentrate interest on upbringing and investment in knowledge intensive industry and advanced technology base industry for national competitive power reinforcement. I support in particular it as Korean representative industry in the case of the advanced technology base industry positively in the government. Though a patent can become the important competition predominance element of the company by such an advanced technology base industry, this and the proof study in the country to be concerned with are the facts that are not enough now. As for the article of the book, what kind of difference there is in importance by IT and BT industry distinction comment on current events value factors of the patent valuation; of the study is aimed. I derived an importance factor among factors shown in the valuation model of the patent valuation organization and an existing precedent study for comparison analysis in the study and used it. In addition, it was analysis hello it utilized AHP technique, and what kind of difference patent value evaluation important factors showed by IT and BT industry distinction.   • Development strategies of Saemangeum New Port are as follows : First, get port terminal areas to be larger. Second, establish the strategy of investment attraction in consideration of the cargo to be handled in Saemangeum New Port. Third, attract regional cargo from such Chinese provinces as Gangso and Sandongseong so as to differentiate it from the existing ports. Finally, construct such connecting programmes as the strategy of the Hub-and-Spoke calling at ports that can make a mutual win-win competition rather than an opposing competition to attract the cargo from the existing port.

  • Exports of Korean non-timber forest products to the Japanese market decreased 46.3% from 17.54 million dollars in 2010 to 9.42 million dollars in 2014. This research aims to find the appropriate strategies for exporting Korean non-timber products, such as chestnut, shitake, persimmon, and wild ginseng. We applied conjoint analysis to investigate the preferences of Japanese homemakers for Korean non-timber products. The results are as follows: (1) There is a clear distinction in the preference for the attributes and levels of products; (2).Korean products are preferred to Chinese products, but have lower competitiveness than Japanese products; (3) Japanese homemakers responded sensitively, not to the forest product prices, but to changes in their specific attributes. These results can be used to promote the export of Korean non-timber products to the Japanese market.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how to improve tourism competitiveness of cruise harbours in Korea by analyzing tourism satisfaction level of international cruise visitors to Korea, who are increasing rapidly as Northeast Asian cruise tourism market is growing up. In this study we analyzed the factors of effects on tourism satisfaction level by Chinese visitors, Japanese visitors and English speaking visitors respectively based on the results of "International Cruise Visitor Survey 2012". The results of this study show that the individual satisfaction level of port of calling & tour schedule, immigration procedures, transportation, shopping influenced overall tourism satisfaction level by countries. It implied that those attributes should be reflected hereafter when we establish a marketing strategy for each of cruise cities. This study has a great significance in that those results suggest useful information when we make plans not only for activating cruise harbours but also for cruise tour marketing.
