A Study on The Game Character Creation Using Genetic Algorithm in Football Simulation Games (축구 시뮬레이션 게임에서의 유전 알고리즘을 활용한 게임 캐릭터 생성 연구)

  • In football simulation games, it is very important for the interest of the game to make the stats of the football players close to reality. As the management concept is introduced to the sports simulation game, when the user plays the game for a long time, the existing player character retires. Therefore, the game creates the environment of the game by creating a new player in the game. In this study, we propose a method to create a new player character by using genetic algorithm to have the optimal ability similar to existing players. We compare and evaluate the player character with the existing random generation method, the correction random method and the proposed algorithm, and verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • Recently, embedding method of a story into a game has gathered much attention than ever. In this study, the 12 phases of Hero's Journey, which was suggested by Joseph Campbell and was highlighted in the area of movies and myths, has been analysed at a point of Christoper Vogler. Since a gamer is not just only a player but also a story-teller in a game, the story experienced by the player enjoying the game was examined and correlated with the 12 phases of Campbell. The game RCT3, a construction/management simulation game ,produced by Atari, was studied. The 12 phases of Campbell was applicable to game story.

  • ICT 기술발전으로 웨어러블 디바이스(wearable device)와 증강현실(augmented reality: AR) 및 가상현실(virtual reality: VR)등은 차세대 게임 산업에 새로운 재미와 가치를 부여할 기술로 주목받고 있다. 특히 가상현실 기술은 몰입(immersion)이라는 경험적 속성을 가지고 있어, 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션으로 창출된 3차원 가상공간으로 사용자의 오감 경험을 확장하고 공유함으로서 공간적, 물리적 제약에 의해 현실 세계에서는 직접 경험하지 못하는 상황을 간접 체험할 수 있도록 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 가상증강현실을 이용하여 유저와 상호작용하고, 사용자에게 현실적인 공포감을 줄 수 있도록 하는 오감 체험 공포 시뮬레이션을 개발하였다. 이 체험 시뮬레이션 게임은 Eon Studio 개발툴과 JavaScript를 이용하여 구현되었으며, Eon I-CUBE안에서 1인칭 주인공 시점으로 게임을 진행하도록 하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 블록체인 기술을 활용하여 게임 콘텐츠의 위변조를 방지하고 유전 알고리즘을 이용하여 게임 콘텐츠의 유기적 생태계를 구축하는 방법을 제안한다. 블록체인 기술을 바탕으로 모든 게임 플레이어는 Non-Fungible Token (NFT)으로 보호되는 독자적인 게임 캐릭터를 생성 및 관리할 수 있다. 또한 각 게임 캐릭터는 캐릭터의 고유 성질을 나타내는 유전 정보로 정의되며, 유전 알고리즘에 의하여 새로운 캐릭터가 생성되도록 함으로써 게임 캐릭터들의 유기적 생태계가 구축될 수 있다. 제안한 기술을 바탕으로 한 경영 시뮬레이션 웹 게임인 Cryptoy 를 개발하였고, 이를 통해서 제안한 기술의 안전성 및 정확성을 분석하였다.

  • Recently, grafting of a story into a game has attracted ever increasing attention. In this study, the 12 phases of Hero's Journey by Joseph Campbell highlighted in movies and myths was analysed from a point of Christoper Vogler to be correlated with a game.   • Determining the price of a newly developed game product is a substantial matter affecting many aspects of corporate management. An appropriate pricing based on the proper data encourages consumers to purchase products repeatedly Yet presently most game companies prefer to set a price according to the cost including developing expense, advertising expense and law materials. As a result that price does not reveal the rue value of the product, many corporations face the demerits in the corporate management including the low sales, the loss of client and the poor promotion. This study has emphasis on the evaluating the price according to the consumer view rather than either corporate or industrial view. The price preference research analysis shows that Korean gamers prefer the price ranging around 30 thousand won in the simulation game, RPG game, and arcade game. In the online game, around 20 thousand won is the preferred price. This difference explains well the features of each game categories.

Motivation-based Hierarchical Behavior Planning

  • This paper describes a motivation-based hierarchical behavior planning framework to allow autonomous agents to select adaptive actions in simulation game environments. The combined behavior planning system is formed by four levels of specification, which are motivation extraction, goal list generation, action list determination and optimization. Our model increases the complexity of virtual human behavior planning by adding motivation with sudden and cumulative attributes. The motivation selection by probability distribution allows NPC to make multiple decisions in certain situations in order to embody realistic virtual humans. Hierarchical goal tree enhances the effective reactivity. Optimizing for potential actions provides NPC with safe and satisfying actions to adapt to the virtual environment. A restaurant simulation game was used to elucidate the mechanism of the framework.

  • A social network game (SNG) is the result of a combination of a life simulation game and a social networking service. These types of games are particularly popular among women. This phenomenon calls for research that focuses on the motivation behind playing SNGs, the factors that make SNGs absorbing and, particularly, the space decorating features of SNGs. The current study investigates people's experience with the space decorating features of SNGs and their motivation for playing these games. It observes the behaviors of SNG players, which were typed through Q methodology. Moreover, it specifically analyzes the motivation behind the playing of space-decorating SNGs. The study concludes that most of players were more absorbed in the space-decorating features of these games than they were in their social networking features. This also affects a player's continued playing of these games. This study proves that this phenomenon is related to players' desires for self-representation.
