  • Since the Act on Punishment of Serious Accident has been implemented, the role of construction companies in safety and health and the responsibility of CEO are strengthened. However, serious accidents still occur. Due to population decline and young people's reluctance into the construction industry, the ratio of elderly workers and foreign workers is increasing at construction sites. In this study, a survey was conducted to identify differences in the perception of importance of smart safety technology among vulnerable groups such as foreign workers, elderly workers, and workers with health conditions. Vulnerable workers recognize the importance of smart technology in the fields of foreign language support, risk warning, and body wear monitoring, and the conclusion was drawn that smart technology should be expanded for vulnerable groups in the future.

  • This research has been accomplished to build up the growth strategies of Kangwon district's small & medium-sized construction firms. For this purpose, we made an investigation of the present situation and status for existing regional small & medium construction firms by analyzing data. Based on the results from this study, the following growth strategies are suggested to gain their competitive advantages. Firstly, most of all, the role of the top manager is the most important factor since most of the top manager for the small & medium-sized construction firms coincide with the owner the firms. Secondly, the specialization strategy is to establish. Above all they concentrate their business capacities on core business. Then, this growth strategy should be based on the selective escalation of functions in order to maintain an appropriate level of construction works. Thirdly, the specialized skills and skilled workers are ensured for competitive advantages. For human resource development, they should train workers to be multi-functioned on the assumption the they could stay at firm until they wish to retire. Finally, the government must also spare no effort to encourage the small & medium-sized construction firms to build up it's competitive power and cultivate it's spontaneous generation power though the reformation of system related whit the small and medium construction industry.

  • One of the most important decisions for managers in the online banner advertising industry, is to choose the best banner alternative for exposure to customers. Since it is difficult to know the click probability of each banner alternative in advance, managers must experiment with multiple alternatives, estimate the click probability of each alternative based on customer clicks, and find the optimal alternative. In this reinforcement learning process, the main decision problem is to find the optimal balance between the level of exploitation strategy that utilizes the accumulated estimated click probability information and exploration strategy that tries new alternatives to find potentially better options. In this study we analyze the impact of word-of-mouth effects and the number of alternatives on the optimal exploration-exploitation strategies. More specifically, we focus on the word-of-mouth effect, where the click-through rate of the banner increases as customers promote the related product to those around them after clicking the exposed banner, and add it to the overall reinforcement learning process. We analyze our problem by employing the Multi-Armed Bandit model, and the analysis results show that the larger the word-of-mouth effect and the fewer the number of banner alternatives, the higher the optimal exploration level of advertising reinforcement learning. We find that as the probability of customers clicking on the banner increases due to the word-of-mouth effect, the value of the previously accumulated estimated click-through rate knowledge decreases, and therefore the value of exploring new alternatives increases. Additionally, when the number of advertising alternatives is small, a larger increase in the optimal exploration level was observed as the magnitude of the word-of-mouth effect increased. This study provides meaningful academic and managerial implications at a time when online word-of-mouth and its impact on society and business is becoming more important.

  • Recently, Dennis et al.(2008) proposed media synchronicity theory. In this theory, for conveyance communication processes, use of media supporting lower synchronicity should result in better communication performance. But for convergence processes, use of media supporting higher synchronicity should result in better communication performance. This paper proved a part of the propositions of media synchronicity theory, because media synchronicity theory was proposed theoretically, not empirically. We used a data set generated from the survey. The respondents of survey were 163 students who had experienced the communication media in the classes that should summit result of team projects or team reports. According to the results of data analysis, higher use of communication media led to better learning performance. The familiarity of task moderated the effect of communication media on learning performance. And use of media supporting higher synchronicity led to better learning performance.

  • For today's enterprises to survive in the current rapidly changing business environments, it is imperative to make quick and successful decisions to various challenges. In making important business decisions, if enterprises utilize business rules and knowledge, properly and promptly, they may effectively reduce the chance of failures. However, in most of today's information systems, these rules and knowledge are not managed in centralized and systemic manner. They disperse over entire enterprises' information systems, and sometimes reside in the heads or memos of enterprises' employees. BRE (Business Rule Engines) is a solution that systematically and centrally manages these business knowledge and rules of an enterprise. With BREs, any business user is able to store, edit, retrieve and utilize business rules and knowledge in centralized repository, without IT development skills. And with BRE, enterprises could improve business intelligence and attain strategic advantages over other enterprises. However, since there is no clear criteria for BRE introductions, it is not easy to decide whether or not to introduce the expensive BRE solution to an enterprise. In this research we propose a decision model for BRE introduction. Using this model, business analysts considering BRE introduction, readily make decisions on BRE introduction.

  • South Korea has achieved impressive economic growth relatively quickly by focusing on export-driven policies and economies of scale in the process of industrialization. As the country's economic development policy focused on large corporations, however, a power and wealth imbalance developed between SMEs and large corporations. The purpose of this study is to clarify this issue academically and more clearly through theoretical studies and empirical analysis in order to resolve these imbalances and improve the positive relationship between SMEs and large corporations. To this end, a survey was conducted from December 17, 2018 to January 28, 2019, and a total of 378 questionnaires collected from corporate workers were used for the final analysis. The hypotheses confirmed by the study results were as following. First, the factors directly affecting the competitor's orientation were the trust, entrepreneurship, and innovation capability of the entrepreneurial characteristics. Second, when the characteristics of the company were examined from the perspective of cooperative performance, only the innovation capacity factor had a positive effect. Third, the competitor orientation showed a positive effect on cooperative performance. Fourth, competitor orientation had a statistically significant mediating effect on the relationship between trust, entrepreneurship, innovation capability, and cooperative performance.

  • The data of fair value hierarchy is expected to contain different degree of measurement error, information asymmetry, and information risk by the level of hierarchy. Thus, this study examines how hierarchy of fair value discriminately influences on companies' cost of capital. Through regression analysis of corporations listed from 2011 to 2014, it turns out that the regression coefficient of level 1 and 2 of fair value variable vary their rank by cost of capital types, while level 3 contains the highest regression coefficient for every cost of capital variable. In addition, further study of how the relevance between cost of capital and the fair value hierarchy gets affected by market risk management level and audit quality finds no consistent results. However, by analyzing the effect of coincident interaction through the convergence of market risk management and audit quality, when audit quality and market risk management level are high, the effect of relieving cost of capital of Level 3 gets the highest. In conclusion, fair value hierarchy data seems to affect discriminately on cost of capital by involved information risk, and the information risk could decrease by the level of market risk management and audit quality.
