In this study, the inhomogeneous material composed of CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic) and structural metal of SM45C is used for the light material. The finite element analysis on the basis of compact tension test was carried out by using the composite material for sandwich type bonded with the unidirectional CFRP that differs in fiber stacking angle at both sides with the core of SM 45C. CT test is the representative method to confirm the fracture behaviour due to crack in material under the load. The effect on crack and hole must be investigated in order to apply inhomogeneous material to mechanical structure. As the result of this study, the fracture behaviour by CT test of the composite material for sandwich was studied by simulation analysis. The sandwich composite of unidirectional CFRP with the stacking angle of [0/60/-60/0] has the superior strength and the maximum equivalent stress of about 182GPa.Also, the esthetic sense can be shown as the designed factor of shape with composite material is grafted onto the convergence technique.

Ultra-high strength concrete becomes one of the main research areas because recently concrete structure is larger. The quality of aggregate (ultra-high strength and uniformity) as well as chemical admixture and mineral additives is a key factor for ultra-high strength concrete development. However, natural aggregate including crushed aggregate is inappropriate for ultra-high strength concrete because ultra-high strength quality cannot be maintained uniformly over whole natural aggregate lot. In this study ceramic aggregate was applied for ultra-high strength concrete in order to assure uniform quality of ultra-high strength aggregate. Ultra-high strength concrete was achieved by applying coated ultra-high strength ceramic aggregate to enhance the bonding strength between aggregate and cement paste. Also for actual application light weight ceramic aggregate(density 2.2 $g/cm^3$) with zero water absorption was tested.

A slender guideway is essential in improving aesthetically and reducing its construction cost which accounts for about 70% of overall investment for maglev system. As the slender guideway, however, may increase its deformation, its effect on levitation stability and guidance performance needs to be analyzed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect on guidance characteristics of maglev due to the lateral deformation of the guideway girder and lateral irregularity of guiderail. For doing this, 3D model considering lateral deformation of girder and irregularity of rail of the guideway is developed. Using the dynamic interaction model integrated with the proposed guideway and maglev vehicle including electromagnetics and its controller, guidance characteristics of maglev are analyzed. It is analyzed that the effect on lateral deformation of girder is relatively small compared to deformation on the lateral irregularities of guiderail.
For the last 30 years, the use of EPS as a lightweight filling material has grown significantly throughout the world. The fields of applying EPS block have also increased. The most representative example in geotechnical applications is using EPS block as a compressible inclusion that causes the reduction of static earth pressure on earth-retaining wall, bridge abutment and pipes. EPS blocks have a good workability by its lightweight characteristic and a uniform engineering property with the change of its density. Also EPS blocks have best material property as a compressible inclusion. This paper analyzes that the compressible inclusion function of EPS causes the reduction of static earth pressure on retaining wall and concrete box culvert. A series of in-situ tests were conducted to evaluate the reduction of static earth pressure using EPS inclusion. Based on in-situ test, it is found that the magnitude of static earth pressure was reduced to about 20% for the retaining wall and about 45∼53% for the box culvert compared with theoretical active earth pressure.
Flowable fills are self-leveling, liquid-like materials, and self-compacting to 95-100% of the maximum unit weight. Benefits of flowable fills include limited required labor, accelerated construction, ready placement at inaccessible locations, and the ability to be manually re-excavated. Applications for flowable fills include utility trenches, building excavations, underground storage tanks, abandoned sewers and utility lines, and filling underground mine shafts The objective of this study is to estimate engineering property of flowable fills made of soil mixed with recycled stylofoam and stabilizer for using geotechnical field. For this study, the uniaxial compression test, flowable test, and model tests were performed. Based on the results of the tests, the following conclusions are : fills made of soil mixed with recycled stylofoam and stabilizer can be used as flowable fills, minimum stabilizer quantity for using flowable fills ranges from 1.0($kN/m^3$) to 1.2 ($kN/m^3$).

CFRP is the composite material manufactured by the hybrid resin on the basis of carbon fiber. As this material has the high specific strength and the light weight, it has been widely used at various fields. Particularly, the unidirectional carbon fiber can be applied with the layer angle. CFRP made with layer angle has the strength higher than with no layer angle. In this paper, the property of crack growth due to each layer angle was investigated on the crack propagation and fracture behavior of the CFRP compact tension specimen due to the change of layer angle. The value of maximum stress is shown to be decreased and the crack propagation is slowed down as the layer angle is increased. But the limit according to the layer angle is shown as the stress is increased again from the base point of the layer angle of $60^{\circ}$. This study result is thought to be utilized with the data which verify the probability of fatigue fracture when the defect inside the structure at using CFRP of mechanical structure happens.

Ultra High Performance Concrete(UHPC) is a superior structural material with high strength and durability. Construction of light and slim structures is realized to apply this expectable new materials in practice. This research is a part of the project to develop UHPC precast deck system for hybrid cable stayed bridge. The main object of this study is to investigate behavior of the lap-spliced reinforced connection in UHPC. The major parameter considered in experimental plan was lap-spliced length. The 4-points bending test for 12 specimens were conducted to verify the effect of considered parameters. Test results show that the minimum value of lap spliced length of 300mm which specified in current korea high bridge design code was very conservative for UHPC precast deck system.
The wireless sensor network consists of a number of sensor nodes which have physical constraints. Each sensor node senses surrounding environments and sends the sensed information to Sink. In order to alleviate the inherent vulnerability in security of the wireless sensor nodes with the hardware constraints, the lightweight security protocol is needed and a variety of research is ongoing. In this paper, we propose a non-hierarchical sensor network and a security protocol that is suitable for monitoring man-made objects such as bridges. This paper, furthermore, explores a two-layer authentication, key distribution scheme which distributes the key and location of a sensor node in advance, and an effective security routing protocol which can take advantage of the Sleep and Awake state. This also results in the increased data transfer rate by increasing the number of alternative routing paths and the reduced energy consumption rate.
At the engineering and industrial areas, the lightweight composite material has been substituted with the metals, such as steel at the structural parts. This composite material has been applied by the adhesive bonding method, as well as the joint methods with rivets, welds or bolts and nuts. The study on the strength characteristics of adhesive interface is necessarily required in order to apply the method to composite materials. CFRP specimens as the fiber reinforced plastic composites were manufactured easily and this study was carried out. The static experiments were performed under the loading conditions of in-plane and out-plane shears with the inhomogeneous composite TDCB specimens with CFRP, aluminum (Al6061), and aluminum foam (Al-foam). Through the result of this study, the durability on the inhomogeneous composite structure with adhesive interface was investigated by examining the fracture characteristic and the point in time.
