  • 지난달 정보통신부를 비롯한 정부 9개 부처는 '제1차 온라인디지털콘텐츠산업발전기본계획'을 확정 발표했다. 이에 따라 국내에서도 애니메이션, 온라인게임 등 디지털콘텐츠(DC)산업에 대한 정부의 지원이 본격적으로 추진될 전망이다. 특히 정부는 향후 DC산업의 성장을 주도할 디지털 영상물 제작에 필요한 컴퓨터그래픽(CG) 기술 개발에 대한 투자를 대폭 강화할 계획이다.

  • 급격한 정보화 사회로의 발전과정에서 디지털 스토리텔링은 게임, 애니메이션, 디지털영화, 웹 에듀테인먼트, 웹 홍보 등 광범위한 영역으로 확산되고 있다. 이 같은 디지털 스토리텔링은 디지털 미디어의 특징에 힘입어 과거 헐리우드 영화와 같은 아날로그 스토리텔링의 문화적 제국주의를 극복하는 민주적, 평등적 속성을 안고 있다. 디지털콘텐츠의 제작, 육성을 국가적 비전으로 삼아야 할 이때, 디지털 스토리텔링은 디지털콘텐츠의 질적 향상을 위한 시대적인 요청이라 할 수 있다.

A Study on the Problem and Improvement of VR Content Using Motion Platform and VR HMD (모션플랫폼과 VR HMD를 사용하는 VR콘텐츠의 제작환경에 따른 문제점과 개선 방안)

  • Many limitations arise when using washout algorithms to calibrate input values in VR content-making environments using VR HMD and motion platforms. Thus, in this study, we designed a new fabrication method using a control object that turns acceleration into a rotational motion. A total of 30 people were tested to see if the improved method was better than the existing one. The results showed significant differences that the improved method is better for realism, immersion and ride comfort.

  • Game and Animation are considered as two different fields. The definition of animation is 'moving picture' and game is a kind of animation which can be controlled by users. Actually, many principles of animation are applied to the production of games, and are even more emphasized in the mobile game contents which are becoming popular these days because of the characteristics of mobile devices such as small screen size. In this paper, we study on the application of the 12 principles of animation through the making of a mobile 3D game called 'Fly to the music' and that game is going to be serviced in late 2006 by SK Telecom. Moreover, we studied the differences between 3d mobile game animation and ordinary animation.

  • It has been attempted to approach a method to develop games efficiently. Many companies in game industries have their own developing process. A efficient game developing process or manufactory tools doesn't show the successful development, but it is necessary to propose the typical design method on viewpoint of game developer. In this paper, we propose how we solve RPG game character balancing problem in order to derive the balancing design to be applicable on a game. We will approach to game balancing design based on experienced experiments through balancing analysis of game character in RPG genre.

  • As a variety of HMD(Head Mounted Display) has come out, the production of 3D images onto which VR(Virtual Reality) technologies are grafted has been contributed to activating the production of image contents depending on a tangible or immersing type. VR-based image contents have enlarged their applicability across the entertainment industry from animation and game to realistic images. At the same time, the solution development for producing VR image contents has also gained elasticity. However, among those production solutions which have been used until now, fixed stereo camera based photographing has a limit that the binocular disparity of a user is fixed. This does not only restrict a way of expression a producer intends to direct, but also may cause the effect of 3D or space not to be sensed enough as view condition is not considered enough in a user's side. This study is aimed at resolving with skills applying in the latter part of 3D image production the problem that convergence points may be adjusted with restriction, which tends to happen at the time of the production of VR image contents. The later stage of the 3D imaging work analyzes and applies to game engines the significance of adjusting convergence points through the visualization of binocular disparity so that it is available to implement a function that the points could be controlled at random by a user.

  • Most games based on PCs or consoles at present show vivid special effects and brilliance sceneries. However, the other games running on mobiles and portable devices can not show magnificent scenes because of low hardware specifications such as slow CPU, old graphics card and battery capacity. These games relatively prefer light and casual contents that do not need tremendous calculation. It is very important to keep minimum of game graphics quality in those games. Thus this research presents the new possibility of variable indexed color palettes to overcome the low hardware capacities.

Implementation of Game Interface using Human Head Motion Recognition (사람의 머리 모션 인식을 이용한 게임 인터페이스 구현)

  • Recently, various contents using human motion are developed in computer vision and game industries. If we try to apply human motion to application programs and contents, users can experience a sense of immersion getting into it so that the users feel a high level of satisfaction from the contents. In this research, we analyze human head motion using images captured from an webcam and then we apply the result of motion recognition to a game without special devices as an interface. The proposed method, first, segments human head region using an image composed of MHI(Motion History Image) and the result of skin color detection, and then we calculate the direction and distance by the MHI sequence. In experiments, the proposed method for human head motion recognition was tested for controlling a game player. From the experimental results we proved that the proposed method can make a gammer feel more immersed into the game. Furthermore, we expect the proposed method can be an interface of a serious game for medical or rehabilitation purposes.

  • 디지털 미디어의 발전으로 인해 모션그래픽의 구성요소들은 다양한 방식으로 제작되고 있다. 모션그래픽을 활용한 영상콘텐츠 제작기법은 새로운 이미지를 어떻게 제작하느냐에 따라 보다 창의적이고 효율적인 영상으로 표현되기도 한다. 모션그래픽의 활용도는 웹, 게임, 및 영화 방송 등 다양한 콘텐츠의 시각적 정보전달의 의미를 가지고 있다. 모션그래픽의 새롭고 실험적인 작업은 어떠한 제작방식에 따라 그 결과는 아주 다르게 나타난다. 또한 영상제작에 대한 프로세스는 새로운 뉴미디어의 기술의 결합으로 영상콘텐츠의 창의적인 작품으로 된다. 따라서 본 논문은 모션그래픽의 제작방식에서 실사카메라의 움직임을 가상카메라로 트래킹하여 입체적인 모션그래픽을 구현하는 제작방법을 제시한다.

  • 스포츠 클라이밍에서 효율적인 등반을 위해서는 인공 암벽의 홀드 위치 및 형태에 따라 역학적으로 이득이 높은 자세를 취할 수 있도록 반복적인 훈련이 필요하다. 교육자는 초급 수준의 등반자를 교육하기 위해서 매번 직접 시범을 보여야 하는 불편함이 있다. 만약 등반자 혼자서도 자세를 배울 수 있는 사실적인 등반 애니메이션이 제공된다면, 효율적인 훈련이 가능할 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 게임 엔진의 역운동학 기능으로 제작 과정을 간소화하고 게임 콘솔용 깊이 카메라 기반의 모션 캡쳐 데이터를 분석 및 적용하여 올바른 등반 자세 교육을 위한 3D 캐릭터 애니메이션을 제작하는 방법을 제시한다. 향후 애니메이션이 제작되면 스포츠 클라이밍 교육 콘텐츠를 제작의 기초가 되어 기존 등반 교육 과정에서 제공하지 못했던 새로운 경험을 등반가들에게 제공할 것이다.
