  • The purpose of this study is to treat the students addicted to the internet by implementing a program using computers. In order to accomplish the purpose, the program was created by combining the game making activities using scratch programming, self-examination activities, and future occupation search activities. This treatment program will have major positive effects on the students who are addicted to the internet. First, it will be effective for reducing the time for using the internet and it will also improve the addictiveness such as being immersed in playing games. Second, there will be a change in attitude toward the internet and an improvement in intellectual capacity of the students. They will realize the fun of making and sharing the programs with friends, and their thinking skills will be improved by getting training for algorithmic and creative thinking. Third, this treatment program will have positive effects on the students' affective domain. They will have deeper and wider perspective on occupation by searching their future occupation, and discover the meta-ego through self-examination., which in turn, help them gain confidence and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Fast algorithm for incorporating start and goal points into the map represented in a generalized visibility graph (출발점과 목표점을 일반화 가시성그래프로 표현된 맵에 포함하기 위한 빠른 알고리즘)

  • The visibility graph is a well-known method for efficient path-finding with the minimum search space modelling the game world. The generalized visibility graph is constructed on the expanded obstacle boundaries to eliminate the "wall-hugging" problem which is a major disadvantage of using the visibility graph. The paths generated by the generalized visibility graph are guaranteed to be near optimal and natural-looking. In this paper we propose the method to apply the generalized visibility graph efficiently for game characters who moves among static obstacles between varying start and goal points. Even though the space is minimal once the generalized visibility graph is constructed, the construction itself is time-consuming in checking the intersection between every two links connecting nodes. The idea is that we build the map for static obstacles first and then incorporate start and goal nodes quickly. The incorporation of start and goal nodes is the part that must be executed repeatedly. Therefore we propose to use the rotational plane-sweep algorithm in the computational geometry for incorporating start and goal nodes efficiently. The simulation result shows that the execution time has been improved by 39%-68% according to running times in the game environment with multiple static obstacles.

An Efficient Smoothing Algorithm Using the Change of Frame Sequence in GOP (GOP를 구성하는 프레임들의 순서 변경을 이용한 효율적인 스무딩 알고리즘)

  • Smoothing is a transmission plan where variable rate video data is converted to a constant bit rate stream. Among them are CBA, MCBA, MVBA, PCRTT and others. But, in these algorithm, a transmission plan is made in according to stored frame sequence in these algorithms. In case that the number of bytes in frames in GOP differs greatly each other, this may cause unnecessary transmission rate changes and may require high transmission rates abruptly when frame's byte is large. In result, it is difficult to use efficient network resource. In this paper, we proposed a smoothing algorithm that find the optimal frame sequence in short time by using backtracking method and smoothing's structure for the proposed smoothing algorithm. This algorithm decides the sequence of frames which requires the lowest variance of frame's bytes in GOP and make a transmission plan. In order to show the performance, we compared with MVBA algorithm by various evaluation factors such as the number of rate changes, peak rate, rate variability.

  • Webcam doesn't perform memory-alignment in order to reduce the transmission time of image data. Memory-unaligned image data is unsuitable for the processing on GPU. Accordingly, we convert it to available color format for optimization in high speed image processing. In this paper, we propose a technique that accelerates webcam's color format conversion by using NVDIA CUDA. We propose an optimization which is about memory accesses and thread composition, also evaluate memory and computing performance for verifying a hypothesis which is the performance of the proposed architecture and optimizing degree on low-performance GPU. Following the optimization technique, we show performance improvements over maximum 68 percent.

Group Behavior Simulation of Multi-Agents by Using Steering Forces in an Enclosed Space (제한된 공간에서 조종력을 이용한 다중에이전트의 집단행동 시뮬레이션)

  • It is important to realistically simulate group behaviors of the multi-agents in virtual worlds. While most researchers have focused on their group behaviors in an open space, this paper studies their group behaviors by using steering force in an enclosed space. Agents have a common target and should move towards it in an enclosed space while avoiding collision with other agents. Under those environments, three possible models of agents are proposed and the six steering forces needed in each model are also proposed. In order to show the correctness of the proposed models, they were simulated. Our simulation results showed that the proposed models only using steering forces operate well in the enclosed space although it requires a different period of time for each agent to arrive at its target depending on the walls and doors.

The Study on the Current Status and Condition of Internet Addiction related to Disabled Person Information Technology Education (장애인 정보화교육에 따른 인터넷 중독 현황 및 실태에 관한 연구)

  • The analysis was conducted for studying the degree of internet addiction and the difference between addicted group and non-addicted group based on usage time. The target group is consisted of 30 people who receive the training at home. The purpose of this training is to reduce digital divide for the disabled with reduced mobility. As a result, the typical user group, less than the 31-point appeared as 4 cases, the potentially dangerous user I group, from 31 to 54 points appeared as 25 cases, the potentially dangerous user II group, from the 54-67 points appeared as only one person. However, there was no game addiction case, more than 67 points. In addition, there was no significant difference in impulsivity and aggression between the high-risk group of 9 persons using internet more than 2.7 hours and the typical user group of 21 persons with less risk. From the result, there are two possibilities. On the one hand, an increase of the usage time for the disabled might not lead to addiction. Or, on the other hand, a measure of addiction for non-disabled might not suitable for the disabled addiction examination.

  • 최근 청소년층의 인터넷 이용이 급격히 증가하면서, 초등학생 중 90% 이상이 인터넷을 이용하고 있으며, 그 연령대도 낮아져 저학년 어린이의 이용률이 지속적으로 높아지고 있다. 또한 청소년의 30%가 인터넷 중독 또는 중독 직전에 있는 것이 실태이기도 하다. 10대가 현재 가장 많이 사용하고 있는 정보매체인 컴퓨터는, 그것을 사용함에 있어 교육적으로 도움이 되는 면도 있지만 반면에 무분별한 인터넷 용어나 비속어의 사용, 무절제한 지속적인 이용, 유해사이트에의 노출 등 많은 문제가 산재해 있다. 기존의 유해사이트 차단과 컴퓨터 사용시간 제한 등의 사용 관리를 위한 프로그램들이 많이 선보여진 상태이지만 그 활용 면에서 보면, 좀 더 사용자의 특성을 이해하여 어른들보다 절제가 어려운 어린이 사용자를 위해 부모 혹은 선생님과 같은 관리자와 가르침의 역할을 해줄 수 있는 부분이 더욱 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 무형의 소프트웨어 프로그램이 사용자에게 명령을 내리고 그것을 수행하게 하는 것 보다, 사용자가 친숙하게 받아들이고 정서적으로 접근할 수 있는 사용자와 인터렉션이 가능한 캐릭터 형태의 물리적 아바타를 제안하고자 한다. 또한 비속어나 그와 비슷한 단어들을 사용할 시 의미적으로 비속어인지 아닌지 아바타가 추론할 수 있는 기능으로, 인공지능을 부여하여 사용자가 인터넷 채팅이나 게임을 할때 아바타로 하여금 사용자와의 인터렉션을 통해서 올바르지 않은 언어사용에 대한 인지를 쉽게 하고 개선의 효과를 높이며 지속적인 관심을 이끌 수 있는 인공지능을 가진 캐릭터 아바타를 제안하고자 한다.

  • TIP 기술은 2D 그림 또는 한 장의 사진으로부터 기하정보를 추출하여 3 차원 입체 효과를 만들어 영상 내부를 네비게이션할 수 있는 기술로써, 게임, 엔터테인먼트, 교육, 홍보 등 다양한 분야에서 요구되는 주요기술이다. 본 논문에서는 최근 대두되고 있는 스마트 device 의 platform 가운데 하나인 android platform 상에서의 OpenGL ES Library 를 이용한 TIP 기술 적용 및 구현 기술을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 전경객체의 추출이 어려운 상황을 감안하여 보다 사실적 장면 구성이 용이하도록 사용자의 선택에 의한 소실점을 이용하고, OpenGL ES Library 를 이용하여 3D 배경 모델을 획득하고, 이미지를 텍스쳐 매핑하여 3D 가상공간을 완성한 후 카메라의 시점 변환을 통해 이미지 내부를 네베게이션할 수 있도록 한다. 실험영상은 android platform 상의 device 에서 촬영한 이미지를 사용하고, android 2.1 및 OpenGL ES 1.0 기반으로 구축함으로써, 제안 기술을 다양한 android platform smart device 에서 적은 비용과 시간으로 응용 개발에 효과적으로 적용 가능하도록 구현하였다.

The Influence of the Introduction of Smart Phone on Using Portal Sites: An Exploratory Study by the Analysis on Smart Phone Users' Web Traffic (스마트폰 도입이 포털사이트 이용에 미친 영향: 스마트폰 이용자의 웹 트래픽 분석을 통한 탐색적 연구)

  • This study is for empirical verification of the influence of the introduction of smart phone on using the portal sites that were affected the most in the previous media environment. To achieve this, Web traffic data that are the result of smart phone users' practical Web uses have collected longitudinally and analyzed. The research results are the following: First, the use hours of portal sites have decreased about 15% and the page views have did about 35%, since using smart phones was diffused and habituated in earnest during the past two years. Using the community, news media, video, mobile, and game section of portal site sections have reduced. Second, the portal site portion of using smart phone Web is much more than that portion of using PC Web. More than two thirds of smart phone Web use traffic occurs in using portal sites, while more than one third of PC Web use traffic does in using that. Using the news media section is the most of using portal site sections on a smart phone. Third, since the introduction of smart phone, using the news media, communication, and life section of portal site sections have greatly increased, while the community, mobile, and game section have greatly decreased in the aggregate.

A Motion-driven Rowing Game based on Teamwork of Multiple Players (다중 플레이어들의 팀워크에 기반한 동작-구동 조정 게임)

  • In this paper, we present a motion-driven rowing simulation framework that allows multiple players to row a boat together by their harmonized movements. In the actual rowing game, it is crucial for the players to synchronize their rowing with respect to time and pose so as to accelerate the boat. Inspired by this interesting feature, we measure the motion similarity among multiple players in real time while they are doing rowing motions and use it to control the velocity of the boat in a virtual environment. We also employ game components such as catching an item which can accelerate or decelerate the boat depending on its type for a moment once it has been obtained by synchronized catching behaviors of the players. By these components, the players can be encouraged to more actively participate in the training for a good teamwork to produce harmonized rowing movements Our methods for the motion recognition for rowing and item catch require the tracking data only for the head and the both hands and are fast enough to facilitate the real-time performance. In order to enhance immersiveness of the virtual environment, we project the rowing simulation result on a wide curved screen.
