A Study on GUI Design of Online Game Character Customizing (온라인 게임 캐릭터 커스터마이징의 GUI 디자인 분석 연구)

  • Game character customizing has evolved with the desires of users who want to enjoy the scarcity value; thereby, the category which is subjected to character customizing is extending. However, despite such a great interest, character customizing interface has been created for the sake of the convenience of each game developing company, without proven guidelines. The confusion of designers who create interface is caused by using independently created interface without testing the optimal form of interface according to manipulative activity which integrates game character customizing interface, and this confusion leads to the discomfort of users. All the more, studies on character customizing have been mostly concerned with the preference for certain characters according to user propensity or character producing methods. Therefore, basic research into interface relative to character customizing is insufficient. Accordingly, through the development of universal guidelines appropriate for game character customizing interface. the discomfort of users is to be removed. This paper conducted an investigative analysis of the current interface of games which support character customizing, and classified the type of interface. Then, the paper researched 16 types of games that support character customizing out of games ranked within top 50 in the on-line game ranking. As a result of the analysis, the characteristic feature of every game appeared in the offer of detailed optional factors. Those detailed optional factors could be classified, to some extent; however, their manipulative interfaces were discovered not to be classified into different types. The results of this paper will be used as an analytic system in the preparation of the guidelines of game character customizing interface, down the road.

  • Internet got into popularization by development of digitech today, and according as Internet user increases, advertisement that use internet is increasing. Specially, advertisement that use internet regardless of time customer and company both direction(interactive) communication possible because, image about special quality of product or company feature that can be active to customer and offer effectively have. There is charm that both direction communication that internet advertisement can attract to unspecified multitude internet connecter regardless of time this are available, internet user can do participation more easily. Interaction of Banner advert or different advertisement that form commentary of current internet advertisement is inert with internet posthumous work. It can become more efficient advertisement if take advantage of prognostication that most important element of game is interaction in internet advertisement. Investigator who aim in this point wishes to do on the basis of special quality of internet advertisement and interaction attribute of game and present actuality design process case of internet ad of game inclination.

  • MMORPGs may involve a great number of concurrent players, and those servers usually have to manage hundred, or even thousands of avatars co-existing in the same virtual world. So if failing to send a command or an event message, or sending it too late may cause damages to the avatar evolution(death, injury, loss of resources), and may result in unjustified penalties for the player. Many policies could be defined to realize a ranking evaluation of available servers. Unfortunately, due to the highly dynamic characteristics of server loads and network performances, any optimal allocation would soon become sub-optimal. In order to solve those problems we propose the "time-interval based fairness partitioning method"(TIP). TIP will distribute the avatar to the game server equally with time-interval in order to avoid the problems form the unfairness of game servers load.

  • This study attempted to compare and analyze metaverse platforms according to their functions. The five metaverse platform was selected and comparatively analyzed through in-depth interviews with experts. As a result of the research, first, Roblox allows you to create and customize your own avatar, provides studio functions for free, and allows you to enjoy private games with friends. Second, Zepeto can create an avatar with one selfie and provides a creative studio function. Third, in Fortnite, it is possible to create in-game characters, purchase and wear items provided in the game, and play games with friends in Creative Mode. Fourth, in Gather Town, networking with users in virtual space is possible, and your own avatar customization and desired virtual space template are provided. Finally, Facebook Horizon participates in the virtual world Horizon with its own avatar that you decorate yourself, and it can function as a world builder, and you can set up a billboard in virtual reality or a virtual store. The value of this study provided a theoretical basis that can be applied to the future industry through the characteristics of the metaverse platform.

A Study on the Improvement of Mobile Game Payment using Blockchain (블록체인을 활용한 모바일 게임결제 개선방안 연구)

  • Currently, most of the mobile game market releases games through Google play and App Store, which have a high share. Because it uses a third-party platform, only the payment API system provided must be used, and third-party platform pays the game company after excluding certain fees. Because game companies do not know whether or not to refund items and cannot get back items through third party transactions, users and professional websites are continuously appearing that exploit refunds. In this thesis, after analyzing problems of existing payment method and presenting a payment model using blockchain smart contract, we analyzed differences from existing model in terms of transparency, decentralization(fee), efficiency, and as a result, payment model using smart contract has low commission through P2P transaction without third parties and transparent transaction record, preventing item forgery and refund. Later, the proposed payment model would lead to the culling of companies acting on behalf of refunds for words that deviate from moral ethics such as "Refund OK even with items" and resolve the problem of unreasonable fees that arise through third-party platforms.

A Study on the Effects of Online Word-of-Mouth on Game Consumers Based on Sentimental Analysis (감성분석 기반의 게임 소비자 온라인 구전효과 연구)

  • Unlike the past, when distributors distributed games through retail stores, they are now selling digital content, which is based on online distribution channels. This study analyzes the effects of eWOM (electronic Word of Mouth) on sales volume of game sold on Steam, an online digital content distribution channel. Recently, data mining techniques based on Big Data have been studied. In this study, emotion index of eWOM is derived by emotional analysis which is a text mining technique that can analyze the emotion of each review among factors of eWOM. Emotional analysis utilizes Naive Bayes and SVM classifier and calculates the emotion index through the SVM classifier with high accuracy. Regression analysis is performed on the dependent variable, sales variation, using the emotion index, the number of reviews of each game, the size of eWOM, and the user score of each game, which is a rating of eWOM. Regression analysis revealed that the size of the independent variable eWOM and the emotion index of the eWOM were influential on the dependent variable, sales variation. This study suggests the factors of eWOM that affect the sales volume when Korean game companies enter overseas markets based on steam.

  • UI design is growing in meaning and form itself through the development of hardware and contents. And it makes users accept its interface as a extension of the body and mind because of the substantial rapport of the user and contents with developing of device and graphic. In this study, we analyzed user interface in a view of digital storytelling by observing of its role within user and contents. Not only this, classifying and investigating story elements in the games for forming the theoretical basis of storytelling UI are enforced. For the case study of UI, we choose the game, Diablo, Half-Life, and Homeworld because the game is suitable for the application of node-type storytelling and effectively uses graphic and input unit. This analysis explains the interface has the contents data that divided or shared and it means the interface performs its part of story nodes, which are extracted from the story, and choice. And we analogized that the story elemental can be substituted and used practically for interface because the stories made through the thing that users and developers are in the space of coexistence by the interface. Storytelling UI will be a good way to make a most intriguing piece as a joyful spontaneous complex that use story node. It is worth by reason of making by user and discovering live inner story so that it can approach to the substance of the story.

  • The creation and interchange of information through the Internet network forms online community and makes Social Network Game (SNG) as a new entertainment by grafting it onto the most popular online games. SNG means the service which amalgamates social network service (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc) strong points and the fun of online game. It promotes the intimacy of relation between the friends above social network service and the gaming amusement for users. The domestic SNG market is currently fast changing according to the smart environment which is quickly shifted. The existing online game field will continuously maintain a market size. SNOG will be more developed because it is competitive from the business perspective of managing cost and production cost when compares with the existing online game. In relation to Facebook, Twitter, etc. overseas SNS platform base SNOG service, the domestic competition for launching SNG is expected to heat up as NHN, Daum and SK Communication introduce open type SNS. This study examines the successful factors and strategy for domestic SNOG by studying the case of MapleStory Adventures successful possibility. The possible successful factors are combing SNS on the existing popular online game, marketing through the existing users, and solving the platform problem of a failure factor of NexonStar. This case study is expected to contribute to the domestic SNOG industry development by providing several implications for the successful factors and strategy of SNOG which will be continuously developed.

  • 국내의 초고속 인터젯 가입자수는 2002년말 기준으로 1050만명(100명당22명)으로 세계에서 가장 높은 수준의 보급률을 보이고 있다. 인터넷의 보급화산에 따라 유선분야에서 초고속 인터넷의 매출액은 2002년 3조5천억원으로 전체 유선 서비스 매출의 30%이상을 차지하고 있다. 2007년에는 매출액 5조4천억원으로 전체 유선서비스 시장의 40% 정도를 차지할 것으로 전망된다. 초고속 인터넷은 일반인의 생활 패턴을 바꿀 정도로 활용이 다양해졌다. 정보 검색 외에 멀티유저 게임, 금융 거래 및 조회, 커뮤니티 서비스 등 우리의 거의 모든 일상 생활에 적용되기 시작했다. 또한 보급률과 맏물려 비용도 저렴해지면서 보급률신장이 이루어지는데 일조하였다. 고속 통신망환경에서 저렴한 관리비용으로 원격지를 통합 관리하며 제어하여 관리비용을 점감하고 실시간으로 영상 및 기기를 제어하기 위하여 개발된 시스템이 RMS(Remote Management System)이다. RMS는 지역에 클라이언트 시스템을 설치하고 주변장치들과 연결하여 영상 및 수치데이터를 획득, 처리, 저장 할 수 있도록 하며, 원격지의 서버 시스템에 초고속망으로 연결하여 현재의 상황과 데이터를 표시하는 시스템으로 구성되어 있다. 여기에서는 개발하여 적용한 사례를 들어 설명하고, 개발의 타당성과 효율성을 설명하도록 하겠다.

  • 가상현실(VR)은 현실 세계를 인공적인 기술을 활용하여 실제로 얻기 힘든 경험이나 환경 등을 제공해 인체의 오감(시각, 청각, 후각, 미각, 촉각)을 자극함으로써 실제와 같이 체험하게 하는 기술로써 게임, 영화, 스포츠, 테마파크와 같이 엔터테인먼트 목적으로 개발되는 경우가 많다. 본 논문에서는 Oculus Touch 및 Oculus Rift를 이용한 VR(Virtual Reality) 올림픽 종목의 스포츠를 설계하고 구현한 시스템을 제안한다. 올림픽 종목 중에 인기종목인 양궁, 사격, 테니스, 탁구 총 4가지 종목으로 구성되어 있으며, 특히 AI를 이용한 경쟁을 통해 종목별 스코어(점수)를 평가함으로서 경쟁구도를 형성한다. 또한, 시각적인 자극을 통해 흥미를 이끌어내고 현실적인 환경을 구현함으로써 유저가 실제 현장에 있는 것 같은 느낌을 제공하며, 세계적인 올림픽 스포츠를 유저들이 직접 즐기고 느낄 수 있다.
