  • This study is based on previous studies on the various types of games and analyse the effects of the characteristics of mobile social network games on online word-of-mouth of game users. As a result, it was revealed that commitment increased because of the features of not needing to access continuously, not interrupted by reciprocal relationship among users, a particular time and place. However, in the process of the interaction with the media, perceived individual social presence and asynchrony that did not need to continue to access, they did not affect satisfaction and respectively. In addition, this commitment had more effects on online word-of-mouth than satisfaction. Comprehensive the above, the research achievement of this study may be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of future domestic mobile social network game industry.

  • Traditional market for arcade game is downsized due to limited offline services. This paper suggests O2O service which is a combination of NFC technology and traditional arcade game. O2O service available by installing NFC tag in the gaming machines and operating by smartphone. This allows convenient payment service along with continuity of gameplay. Furthermore applying ranking, statistics and replays will vitalize communities such as fan clubs and highlight local rankers into popular gaming stars. Offline gallery can be expanded to online via O2O service. Local stars and online gallery will lead arcade gaming platform to E sports. This paper covers servers and applications regarding O2O service in addition to their functions and expected outcome.

  • Game bot playing is one of the main risks in Massively Multi-Online Role Playing Games(MMORPG) because it damages overall game playing environment, especially the balance of the in-game economy. There have been many studies to detect game bot. However, the previous detection models require continuous maintenance efforts to train and learn the game bots' patterns whenever the game contents change. In this work, we have proposed a machine learning technique using the self-similarity property that is an intrinsic attribute in game bots and automated maintenance system. We have tested our method and implemented a system to major three commercial games in South Korea. As a result, our proposed system can detect and classify game bots with high accuracy.

  • Customizing system is known as an important factor which affects not only purchase, loyalty and immersion of the user. In this study, we explore the concept of character-customizing system in the early stage of a game; on the basis of it, we compare cases by analyzing and schematizing certain types of systems which many games stick to. Customizing system types are divided into a basic case and a differentiated convergence case; based on it, they are classified into four types: Realistic, Creation, Individual, Additional; plus, another customizing system case out of games is also analyzed. To improve customer loyalty, a system like a differentiated case that attracts user participation is essential. Through a variety of character customization convergence cases shown in this study, we expect them to be used as game production guides. By enlarging the range of the study, we expect further studies to cover more cases.

  • Sandbox game users can double their satisfaction by re-creating a variety of play patterns. This creative process is due to the expansion of play through 'customizing' and 'action autonomy'. The purpose of this study is to investigate the structural limitations of freedom of online game. In a standalone game, the scalability due to the degree of freedom gives the user a strong motivation for world persistence. On the other hand, in online sandbox games such as MMORPG, it is confirmed that the goal-oriented tendency to gain advantage is the inherent limit of the freedom and expandability of the sandbox game. In this study, it is suggested that the cause and limit of growth of online-based sandbox game can be offset by the optimal solution factor.

  • With the development in the IT industry and the growth in the game industry, user's game data is recorded in seconds according to various plays and options, and a vast amount of game data can be analyzed based on Bigdata. Combined with business, Bigdata is used to discover new values for profit creation in various fields, but it is utilized in the game industry in insufficient ways. In this study, considering the characteristics of the subdivided lines, we constructed a win-loss prediction model for each line using the game data of League of Legends, and derived the importance of variables. This study can contribute to planning of strategies for general game users to get information about team members in advance and increase the win rate by using the record search sites.

  • MMORPG started from text-based MUD in the early '80s and had developed a lot of technology to the present. As these technologies evolve, so far, the game has changed in the game centred on male enthusiasts, and the use of players with various tendencies is increasing. As a result, a new phenomenon in the MMORPG virtual space has created. In this paper, MMORPG users are divided into five factors by using Q methodology and studied play about fandom phenomenon. Through this, the player showed the self-expression phenomenon according to the level, and the characteristic that develops from the enjoyment of the gameplay itself to the fandom phenomenon further developed.

  • 'I-Ching Storytelling Web-Cartoon Game' suggested by Prof. Shim and Research Group may provide users with the opportunity of writing story based on I-Ching. I-Ching is the cosmological thoughts intrinsic to East Asian culture. In the perspective of the narratology, I-Ching can bee seen as a kind of database of narratives since it classifies all events emerging from the meet between the actor(human-人) and the background(time/space-天地) as the story material into 384 narrative elements(sequence) and 64 themes(motive), and consistently constructs their causal relationships. So while trying to articulate I-ching with the digital storytelling methodology, we developed the web-cartoon game. With this game, users can creatively make their own story as a play by freely interpreting, retrieving, and recomposing those 386 narrative elements and 64 themes with the I-ching's narrative guideline.

  • As the recent games industry grows slowly, the consumers come to have interests in new types of games which has different types from the conventional games. While the conventional games play with a simple interfaces such as a joystick and buttons, the new games are designed to have acceleration sensors, infrared sensors and video motion detection sensing using several types of sensors and allow users to play more actively. In this paper, we propose a method which uses the electromyogram(EMG) signals in interface.

  • In this paper, we show a real-time lightning simulation for smart device game. Our proposed method uses physically based Dielectric Breakdown Model to similar real world lightning path and we simplify the algorithm for real-time simulation in smart device. In addition, the rendering process can render multiple lightning and can real-time render in smart device. Finally, our lightning can support interactive with user. The simulation method will be effectively useful for a game that needs a real-time simulation as its game element in smart device environment.
