Search strategies is a means to make an efficient search. Among several studies of search strategy, Bates' $\ulcorner$Search Tactics$\lrcorner$ has been often cited and introduced, but their studies have been superficial. In this paper, the contents of Bates' $\ulcorner$Search Tactics$\lrcorner$ are examined in detail, and we try to represent the actual online search process based upon Bates' $\ulcorner$Search Tactics$\lrcorner$. The following three kinds of survey are made in order to clarify which and how tactics are used: (1) Interview with 7 searchers who belong to different types of organizations, and use different kinds of databases (2) Analysis of some online search records. (3) Analysis of written applications for a newspaper database during one year. In conclusion, Bates' tactics falls into categories and new several tactics which often used are added. The following five factors affect online search activities, search strategy, and search tactics. (1) the difficulty of search requests (2) the kinds of databases (3) the charging policy for each online search (4) the presence of the user during the search (5) the searcher' online experience In the limited condition, typical tactics are suggested, but in order to generalize the pattern of using tactics, further investigation is necessary.

메타 검색 엔진은 여러 검색 엔진의 결과를 통합해 한 화면에 보여주기 때문에 사용자가 한번에 많은 검색 엔진을 사용하는 효과를 준다. 메타 검색에서 사용하고 있는 부리언 질의는 다른 검색 엔진의 연산자를 모두 수용할 수 없기 때문에 고유의 연산자를 정의하여 사용하고 있다. 이때, 메타 검색에서 사용하는 연산자가 검색 엔진에서 제공되지 않으면 사용자 입력 질의를 정화하게 검색 엔진으로 전달하지 못하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 각 검색 엔진의 연산자를 조사 및 분석하여 검색 엔진 대표 연산자를 추출하고, 연산자에 우선 순위를 두어 검색 엔진에서 제공하는 연산자로 질의를 재구성하는 방법을 이용함으로서 이러한 문제를 해결하였고, 메타 검색을 위한 새로운 질의 변환 전략을 제시한다. 그리고, 연산자 매핑 테이블과 URL 매핑 테이블을 이용한 메타 검색의 질의 처리 구조를 설계한다. 이것은 메타 검색으로 입력된 사용자 질의를 정확하게 검색 엔진으로 전달하여 사용자가 원하는 정보를 제공함으로서 사용자가 신뢰도를 향상시키게 된다.

올해 주요 포털업체들의 사업전략 기조는 동영상 검색 등 신규 검색 서비스를 강화하는 가운데 상반기에는 월드컵 마케팅에 올인한다는 것이다. 또한 올 포털시장에서는 웹2.0 기반의 UCC 서비스 등도 주요 이슈가 될 것으로 보이며 구글의 한국시장 연착륙 여부도 초미의 관심사다. 여전히 네이버의 독과점 현상이 지속되고 있는 포털업계의 올 사업전략을 살펴봤다.

본 논문은 웹 상에서 하이퍼텍스트 문서의 정보 검색에 있어서 검색에 요구되는 질의어에 따른 검색 결과가 주제에 따른 관련성을 측정하며, 하이퍼텍스트 문서가 링크되는 문서 상호간의 유사성에 대하여 정량화를 시도함으로써 검색 엔진의 성능분석을 제시한다.

In this study in order to verify the overall information seeking behavior of the Web-based OPAC users, it was analyzed transaction log file for 7 years. Regarding Web-based OPAC information seeking behavior, it was studied from the perspective of information seeking strategy and information seeking failure. In search strategy, it was analyzed search type, search options, Boolean operator, length of search text, number of uses of word, number of use Web-based OPAC, number of use by time, by week day. Also, in search failure, search failure ratio, search failure ratio by search options, search failure ratio by Boolean operator were analyzed. The result of this study is expected to be utilized for OPAC system and service improvement in the future.

The popularization of the Internet brought about easy access to a huge amount of information, yet it is hardly easy for one to find information in need. Therefore, information users must have information retrieval abilities to gather, analyze and utilize data in efficient ways. In general the information retrieval strategies of each user are all different, and consequently the retrieved result also significantly varies from one to another. This paper describes an experimental study on information retrieval behaviors in elementary students, and analyzes the variation in retrieval strategies and results by examining cognitive patterns based on their personal characteristics, specifically their cognitive patterns. As a research result we propose a set of education requirements which can improve students' information retrieval abilities and the efficiency of the information retrieval system.

현재 기업 뿐 아니라 개인에도 정보의 중성이 증대되고 있는 실정이다. 특히, 정보기술의 활용과 빠른 컴퓨팅 환경의 변화 및 인터넷이라는 네트웍을 기반으로 다양한 정보를 접할 수 있게 됨으로써 필요한 정보를 보다 빠르게 검색해야 하는 필요성이 생기게 되었다. 지금까지는 다양하고 방대한 데이터들을 정보의 형태로 가공하여 DB를 중심으로 유용한 정보를 제공하였지만, 이제는 효과적인 정보의 활용을 위해 정보검색의 중요성이 증대되고 있다. 즉, 흩어져 있는 데이터를 정보의 형태로 변환시키는 것보다 그 정보를 효율적이고 빠르게 검색하여 한차원 높은 'Knowledge' 로써의 역할을 하느냐가 중요하게 된것이다. 본 논문에서는 각 정보들의 검색을 위해 사용되고 있는 기존의 검색기법인 SQL-Based 검색, Full text 검색과 새로 소개되고 있는 Parametric 검색에 대해서 고찰하여보고 다양한 정보의 유형에 대해 효과적인 검색을 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

This study focused on understanding the Korean university students' (both undergraduates and graduates) use of foreign language for scholarly information retrieval especially in different search strategies employed based on users' characteristics. A new model was developed based on Ellis's behavioral model of information seeking strategies. The research applied both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the data. The students used a variety of foreign language information seeking strategies at different stages of academic information retrieval based on his/her field of study or level of education. The liberal arts and social science students had more difficulty in selecting proper search terms in the foreign language than the science and technology students. This difficulty resulted in less preference for using foreign language queries by the liberal arts and social science students. The students relied more on the bibliographic and citation information in scholarly information retrieval using foreign language queries than the Korean queries. The research outcomes should provide some guidelines on how the Korean university libraries offer information literacy programs and other services based on the patrons' characteristics.

In this paper, we investigate the relationship between Internet search trends and stock market. Under the assumption that investors may use Internet search engine to obtain information for companies of their interests before taking actual investment actions, the relationship between the changes on Internet search volume and the fluctuation of trading volume as well as stock price of a company is analyzed with actual market data. A search trend investment strategy that reflects the changes on Internet search volume is applied to large enterprises' group and to small and medium enterprises' (SMEs) group, and the correlation between profit rate and trading volume is analyzed for each company group. Our search trend investment strategy has outperformed average stock market returns in both KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets during the seven-year study period (2007~2013). It is also shown that search trend investment strategy is more effective to SMEs than to large enterprises. The relationship between changes on Internet search volume and stock trading volume is stronger at SMEs than at large enterprises.

사실 표준 XQL(XML Query Language) 기반의 문서 질의를 이용하여 XML 문서에 대한 구조 검색과 내용 검색을 위한 문서검색 시스템을 구성하였다. 즉 XML 문서를 파징하여 내용 및 구조 정보를 트리구조로 구성하고, 표준 XQL을 이용하여 트리 구조 정보에 질의함으로서 구조 및 내용 검색을 하도록 구현하였다. 이를 이용한 응용분야로는 향후 방대한 크기의 XML문서 검색과 문서 관리, 전자 상거래 등 다양한 분야에 활용될 수 있는 요소기술로서 기대된다.
