An analytical approach to calculate time-dependent stresses and strains in initially cracked reinforced concrete section with biaxial bending was proposed. The method utilized the aging coefficient approach of Bazant and the linear creep theory. The position of neutral axis and strain and stress distributions of cracked section after creep and shrinkage were determined from the requirements of strain compatibility and equilibrium of a section. With this proposed algorithm, examples were given for rectangular section and a comparative analysis for stress and strain was also made.

The impacts of high temperature and drought were studied on the seedlings of three families (superiorgangwon74, intermediate-gangwon77 and inferior-gangwon132) of P. densiflora which had been selected by the based on the growth indexes of 32-year-old. The seedlings were grown in controlled-environment growth chambers with combinations of four temperatures ($-3^{\circ}C$, $0^{\circ}C$, $+3^{\circ}C$$+6^{\circ}C$; based on the monthly average for 30 years in Korea) and two water conditions (control, drought). The growth performance, photosynthetic parameters and photosynthetic pigment contents were measured at every 30 days under four temperatures and drought condition, and the end of each treatment. The superior family showed higher relative diameter at root collar growth rate and the dry weight than intermediate and inferior family in all treatments. Under elevated temperature and drought condition, growth rate was decreased, and seedlings showed lower growth rate than that of control in three families under low temperature. Photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance and transpiration rate of three families decreased with the increase of temperature and drought condition, and that of seedlings under low temperature was lower than control. But under elevated temperature and drought condition, water use efficiency increased in three families. Photosynthetic pigment contents of leaves decreased under the increase of temperature and drought condition, but chlorophyll a/b ratio increased with the increase of temperature and drought condition in three families. The superior family showed higher total chlorophyll content than intermediate and inferior family in all treatments. In conclusion, P. densiflora is under changed temperature and drought condition, growth was decreased, seedlings more affected in elevated temperature than that of decreased temperature. The increase in monthly average temperature in Korea of more than $6^{\circ}C$, P. densiflora seedling growth in depending on region may decrease. In this study, the superior family(gangwon74) showed more excellent growth and physiological responses than intermediate (gangwon77) and inferior(gangwon132) family under changes temperature and drought.

The effect of dried soymilk residue (DSR) on protein quality of tofu was studied. The amount of added DSR into soybean water extract was corresponding 10% (dry basis) of soybean used in tofu manufacturing. Proximate composition and in vitro protein qualities of soybeans at different stages of the conversion into tofu have also been investigated. Partially substituted tofu with DSR (TDSR) had higher moisture content (80.6%) than that of tofu prepared in traditional manner (TT). TDSR contained lower content of protein (38.9%) and total lipid (26.9%) compared to 45.8% of protein and 34.3% of total lipid for TT. A large amount of trypsin inhibitor (TI) in raw soybeans was diminished and extracted through tofu processing, and only 10~13% of TI in raw soybean remained in both tofu products (TDSR and TT). There was not a considerable difference in amino acid profiles between TT and TDSR, but TDSR had a higher content of lysine than that in TT. in vitro studies showed that TDSR and TT were comparable in terms of both in vitro digestibilities (90% over for four-enzyme digestibility and predicted digestibility) and discriminant computed protein efficiency ratio (2.07~2.14, DC-PER). Unlike those in vitro indices for protein quality, computed protein efficiency ratio (C-PER) of TDSR was much lower (1.4) than that of TT (1.95). It was revealed that C-PERs of tofu products were not in agreement with rat-PERs (1.7~1.9) in previous reports except for TT. However, DC-PER assay was more recommendable for protein quality of tofu products than C-PER assay.
For the effective seedling production of the sweetfish, Plecoglossus altivelis, dietary value of live food in the growth and survival rate of the larvae was examined. To investigate dietary value of three types of rotifers (L-type, S-type, Us-type rotifer) for the sweetfish larvae, the larvae were fed with alone or mixed with each type and with mixtures of two or three types. Although the survival rates of the larvae fed different types of rotifers were not significantly different among them, the larvae fed a mixture of three types of rotifers showed the highest growth significantly. A feeding trial was conducted to determine the effect of the dietary values of rotifer and Artemia nauplius enriched with Chlorella ellipsoidea, $\omega-yeast$, spray-dried Spirulina platensis, and Super Selco for the sweetfish larvae. The dietary values of rotifer and Artemia nauplius enriched with Super Selco mixed with spray-dried S. platens is were distinctly improved for the survival rate and growth of the larvae. With regard to effect of the green water with Chlorella ellipsoidea, spray-dried Spirulina platensis, and the addition of photosynthetic bacteria (Rhodopseudomonas capsulatus), the green water with Spirulina platens is mixed with photosynthetic bacteria also enhanced the growth and survival rate of the larvae.
This study was conducted to determine the properties of seedling plate papers currently used in commercial production, then to get basic information for manufacturing new seedling plate paper. Imported seedling plate paper had high wet tensile and burst strengths in its usage circumstances. Wet tensile strength was very high with 38.7% of dry tensile strength. Wet burst strength was also very high with 62.4% of dry burst strength. The seedling plate paper contained about 30% of synthetic fibers. It had 10 Gurley sec. in air permeability indicating effective movement of air. Seedling plate papers were' made in laboratory scale. For sufficient sizing degree, the addition of 0.5% AKD (alkylketene dimer) by weight was good enough. Additional amount of AKD more than 0.5% by weight caused strength loss even though improving sizing effect. The addition of wet strength reagent such as Finex-B 2% by weight resulted in good strength and air permeability.
This study was conducted to find out the influence of drought stress on physiological responses of Synurus deltoides. Drought stress was induced by withholding water for 25 days. Leaf water potentials were decreased of both predawn (${\Psi}_{pd}$) and mid-day (${\Psi}_{mid}$) with increasing drought stress, but water saturation dificit (WSD) was 7 times increased. ${\Psi}_{pd}-{\Psi}_{mid}$ showed the significant difference of 0.22~0.18 MPa in stressed before 10 days, and nonsignificant as treatment time became longer. A strong reduction of stomatal conductance ($gH_2O$) and stomatal transpiration rate (E) were observed after 15 days of drought stress Significant reductions of net apparent quantum yield (${\Phi}$) and maximum photosynthesis rate ($Pn_{max}$) were observed after 20 days of drought stress; However, water use efficiency (WUE) was shown the opposite trend. This implies that decrease of photosynthesis rate may be due to an inability to regulate water and $CO_2$ exchanged through the stomata. From JIP analysis, flux ratios (${\Psi}_O$ and ${\Phi}_{EO}$) and performance index on absorption basis ($PI_{ABS}$) were dramatically decreased withholding water after 15 days, which reflects the relative reduction of photosystem II activity. The leaf of S. deltoides showed osmotic adjustment of -0.35 MPa at full turgor and -0.40 MPa at zero turgor, and also cell-wall elastic adjustment of 9.4 MPa, indicating that S. deltoides tolerate drought stress through osmotic adjustment and cell-wall elastic adjustment. The degree of change in water relations parameters such as Vo/DW, Vt/DW decreased with increasing drought stress. This result showed that S. deltoides was exhibited a strong reduction of photosynthetic activity to approximately -0.93 MPa of predawn leaf water potential, and both of osmotic adjustment and cell-wall elastic adjustment in drought stress condition appears to be an important adaptation for restoration in this species.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the preparation and physicochemical characteristics of n-octenylsuccinylated (OSAn) rice starches with different rice amylose contents. Amylose contents of Jinsumi flour and Milyang 261 flour were 15.42 and 20.31%, respectively. After processing by alkali treatment, amylose contents of Jinsumi rice starch and Milyang 261 rice starch were 34.21% and 39.32%, respectively. After OSAn treatment, the degree of substitution and reaction efficiency of Jinsumi starch were higher than those of Milyang 261. The stability of the modified Jinsumi emulsion was higher than that of the Milyang 261 emulsion. Viscosity of the Jinsumi emulsion was higher than that of the Milyang 261 emulsion. When the emulsions were spray dried, modified Jinsumi rice starch showed excellent coating efficiency compared to that of modified Milyang 261 rice starch. Therefore, Jinsumi was more suitable than Milyang 261 to apply for encapsulation as wall materials.
The study of pancreatin extraction was investigated by supercritical fluid process. Using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction with entrainer the purification of pancreatin was possible to remove lipids from Hog pancreas. To observe the optimum conditions different experimental variables were changed as pressure, temperature, flow rate of solvent and 0.25 mm of sample size were evaluated for effective removal of lipids. Ethanol and n-hexane were used as an entrainer with 5 mL/min. Increasing pressure at constant temperature the efficiency of the lipid removal in Hog pancreas was improved and the protein was concentrated without denaturalization, compared that of the control Hog pancreas. The most efficient conditions of lipid elimination were 17 MPa of pressure and 35$^{\circ}C$ of temperature and 0.25 mm of sample size.
