The Effects of Self-Esteem and Life Stress on Health Promotion Behavior in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아존중감과 생활스트레스가 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to a descriptive research study to understand the relationship between self-esteem, life stress and health promotion behavior of nursing college students, the influence factors of health promoting behaviors. Participants were 115 nursing students in A city. Data collection was conducted from May 2 to 27, 2022. Data were collected with structured questionnaires and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. As a result of there were positive correlations(r=.59, p<.001) between the self-esteem and health promoting behaviors, negative correlation(r=-.45, p<.001) life stress and health promoting behaviors. Factors affecting health promoting behaviors of nursing college students were health state(β=.507, p<.001), life stress (β=.249, p=.002) and smoking(β=.156, p=.028), which explained 57.0% of the variance. Based on the results of this study, it is thought that it is necessary to development of a program can control life stress with interest in health in order to promote health promotion behaviors of nursing students.

Convergence Study of Health Promoting Behaviors between Nursing Students and General College Students (간호대학생과 일반대학생의 건강증진행위에 관한 융합연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the health promoting behaviors between nursing students and general college students. The participants were 210 students(100 nursing students, 110 general college students). Data were collected by self-reported questionnaires and analyzed by SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. There were not significant differences between two groups in the health promoting behaviors(t=-0.489, p=625). But, significant differences were found in sub-categories of health promoting behaviors according to gender, taking health-related lectures, smoking, and perceived health status. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and intervene various health education programs in order to promote the health of university students in cooperation with universities and local community health organizations.

Effects of Emotional Labor, Depression and Self - Efficacy on Health Promotion Behavior of Taxi Driving Workers (택시운전근로자의 감정노동, 우울과 자기효능감에 따른 건강증진행위 영향요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting health promotion behavior according to emotional labor, depression, and self - efficacy of taxi drivers. Study participants were 102 Taxi drivers in urban areas, and the data were collected through self-reported structured questionnaire. According to the results, among the variables related to Health promotion behaviors, Meaningful positive correlations were found among Health promotion behaviors and Emotional Labor, Depression, Self-efficacy, but Emotional Labor and Depression, Self-efficacy and Health promotion behaviors showed positive correlations. Emotional Labor and Self-efficacy, Emotional Labor and Health promotion behaviors, Depression and Self-efficacy, Depression and Health promotion behaviors showed negative correlations. In addition, the factors such as spouse, Emotional Labor, Self-efficacy explained Health promotion behaviors 57%. Based on the findings from the study, in order for taxi drivers to improve health promotion behaviors education program should be made with strategies increasing Self-efficacy and decreasing Emotional labor.

Mediating Effects of Family Function in the Relationship between Depression and Health Promotion Behavior among University Students (라이프케어증진을 위한 대학생의 우울과 건강증진행위의 관계에서 가족기능의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the mediating effects of family function in the relationship between depression and health promotion behavior among university students. Data were collected from December 1 to December 31, 2018 and the participants included 340 university students, who responded to the question regarding health promotion behavior, family function and depression. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Spearman's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression, mediation regression analysis of Baron and Kenny using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. As a result, A negative correlation is found between health promotion behavior and depression (r=-.48, p<.001), and positive correlation is among family function (r=33, p<.001), negative correlation is found between depression and family function (r=-.45, p<.001). family function have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between depression and health promotion behavior (Sobel test: -2.53, p<.05). Results of this study suggest that it is important to manage family function to improve health promotion behavior caused by depression.

Factors affecting the Health Promotion Behaviors of the Low-Income Elderly Living Alone -Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Social Support (저소득 독거노인의 건강증진행위에 관한 융합적 연구 -사회적 지지의 매개효과를 중심으로-)

  • This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of social support in the influence of depression on the health promotion behavior of low-income elderly living alone. The data were collected from 294 elderly recipients of national basic livelihood security who are living alone and the data were analyzed by path analysis. The results were that depression and social support had direct effect on health promotion behaviors and depression had indirect effect on health promotion behaviors through mediating effect of social support. Results showed the importance of depression and social support in the health promotion behaviors of the low-income elderly living alone, which should be considered in the intervention. On the basis of the results, practical suggestions to increase the health promotion behaviors of the low-income elderly living alone were discussed.

Influence of Life Stress, Body Image, and Happiness on Health Promoting Behaviors among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 생활스트레스, 신체상 및 행복이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to examine the correlations between life stress, body image, happiness, and health promoting behaviors, and to identify the influencing factors on health promoting behaviors of nursing students. Data were collected from 277 nursing students from April 16 to May 4, 2018. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Life stress, body image, happiness, and health promoting behaviors according to the general characteristics commonly showed significant differences in major satisfaction and school satisfaction. Health promoting behaviors showed positive correlations with body image and happiness, but a negative correlation with life stress. Happiness, body image, life stress, gender, and major satisfaction, which accounted for 46% of the variance, were significant predictors influencing health promoting behaviors in nursing students. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a variety of programs to lower life stress and increase body image and happiness in order to improve health promoting behaviors of nursing students.

Relationship between Health Promotion Behavior and Health Service Satisfaction at Regular Medical Checkup (정기건강검진 상담만족도와 건강증진행위와의 관계 - 지방공무원교육원생을 대상으로 -)

  • 본 연구는 정기적인 건강검진을 받는 수검자들이 검진결과에 대한 상담을 받는 것이 건강증진행위에 좋은 영향을 줄 수 있는가에 대한 목적을 가지고 있으며 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 검증결과 인구의 일반적 특성에 따른 건강검진 후 교육 및 상담에 대한 만족도 정도는 성별에서는 여성보다 남성의 만족도가 높았고, 직렬의 경우 기능직공무원이 만족도가 높았으며, 재직기간이 오래 될수록 만족도가 높았다. 2. 건강검진 시 상담서비스 만족도와 건강증진행위의 관계 분석결과 만족도 내용에서 '검진결과 설명시 교정해야할 건강 위험에 대한 지적, '검진결과에 따른 건강 상담', '검진 후 결과에 대해 제공하는 상담 및 보건 교육', '검진 후 결과에 관련된 자료나 진료 혹은 상담안내'에서 건강증진행위와 영향관계를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 3. '검진결과 설명 시 교정해야 할 건강 위험에 대한 지적'은 식사조절과 건강관리행위, '검진결과에 따른 건강 상담'은 건강관리행위, '검진 후 결과에 대해 제공하는 상담 및 보건 교육'은 신체활동과 심리적 안정, '검진 후 결과에 관련된 자료나 진료 혹은 상담안내'는 건강관리행위와 영향관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 위의 연구결과에서 나타난 건강검진서비스 만족도가 낮은 항목의 불만족요인을 분석하여 건강교육 프로그램 계획 시 교육내용에 포함한다면 건강검진서비스 만족도가 상승할 것이며, 건강증진행위를 높일 수 있다고 생각한다.

Factors Related to Health Promoting Behaviors of Young-Old and Old-Old Elderly in Rural Areas (농촌지역 전기노인과 후기노인의 건강증진행위 관련요인)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of health promoting behaviors and the significant factors in rural elderly(young-old vs old-old). Methods: The data was collected using structured questionnaires from June 22th to Sep. 18th, 2009. A total of 556 elderly aged 65 years or over were selected from 14 rural districts in C province, South Korea. Age was divided into two groups as below 65-74 and 75 or older. A structured questionnaire was used to obtain information on the demographic characteristics, their perceived health status, the difficulty of activities of daily living, quality of life, self-efficacy and health promoting behaviors. The health promoting behaviors included nutrition, stress management, interpersonal support, exercise, health responsibility and self-actualization. The scores for health promoting behaviors were used mean and standard deviation. The data was analyzed using SPSS Win 12.0. Results: Of the 556 subjects, we found that the young-old(65-74 aged) were 359 and the old-old elderly(over 75 aged) were 197. We found that the level of health promoting behavior was higher for young-old ($2.75{\pm}0.374$) compared to old-old elderly people ($2.67{\pm}0.399$). In multiple linear regression, quality of life, self-efficacy, living with spouse, and number of generation living together for the young-old, and quality of life for old-old elderly were significantly associated with health promoting behaviors. Conclusions: The study findings indicate that there are age differences in associated factor of health promoting behaviors. Therefore our findings may provide useful assistance in developing effective intervention programs to improve health promoting behavior of the elderly in rural areas according to their age differences.

The Factors Related to Health Promoting Behaviors of the Late Middle Aged (중년후기 성인의 건강증진행위 관련요인)

  • The purpose of this study was a descriptive research that identified the levels of health-promoting behaviors, previous related behavior, perceived benefits/barriers, self-efficacy, and social support. In addition, it was to establish the relations among the variables, and determine the factors affecting the health-promoting behaviors. Study participants were 311 middle aged between 55-64 in urban areas, and the data were collected through self-reported structured questionnair. According to the results, the mean score for the levels of health-promoting behaviors of the late middle aged was 2.64. Also, among the variables related to health-promoting behaviors, perceived benefits were the highest score (30.7), and perceived barriers were the lowest one (2.08). Meaningful positive correlations were found among health-promoting behaviors and previous related behavior, social support, perceived benefits, and self-efficacy, but perceived barriers showed weakly negative correlations. In addition, the factors affecting health promoting behaviors were revealed in order as following: Previous health related behavior(${\beta}$=.35, p<.001), perceived benefits(${\beta}$=.32, p<.001), social support(${\beta}$=.28, p<.001), and life satisfaction(${\beta}$=.13, p<.001), and this model's explanatory power was 68.8%(F=166.71, p<.001). Based on the findings from the study, in order for the late middle aged to have a well-being old age, an health promoting education program including exercises and stress management should be provided to maintain and improve proper health promoting behaviors. The network with the same age groups also should be supported to share useful information and back up one another.

Relationships between Health Promoting Lifestyle, Health Belief about Emerging Infectious Disease and Hygiene Behavior of College Students (대학생의 건강증진 생활양식, 신종전염병 감염에 대한 건강신념 및 위생행위 간의 관계)

  • This study was performed to examine relationships between the levels of health promoting lifestyle, health beliefs about emerging infectious disease and hygiene behavior of college students. A descriptive research design was used, and 252 subjects were recruited from an university in Seoul. Data were collected from August to November, 2018. As result, health promoting lifestyle differed significantly depending on gender and perceived health status. Hygiene behavior were significantly influenced by major, health promoting lifestyle, and health beliefs about emerging infectious disease. In providing health-related education to college students, it is necessary to include content that can establish health beliefs about emerging infectious disease, and to develop a program that comprehensively deals with hygiene activities that can prevent these diseases.
