The X-ray structure of the cydodextrin-glucanotransferase of Bacillus macerans was solved by molecular replacement at 2.0 ${\AA}$ resolution. The refined structure has a crystallographic R-factor of 16.6%, (R$\sub$free/ = 20.5%). A new metal binding site occupied by two Ca$\^$2+/-ions was found at an accession channel of the active site. There is a large accumulation of negative charges that bind these Ca$\^$2+/-ions, thereby connecting segment ${\beta}$13-${\alpha}$G (residue 254-276) to the main body of domain A (at ${\alpha}$H, residue 283-297). The segment 313-${\alpha}$G contains the catalytic residue Glu258 between subsite 1 and -1 and Tyr260 (subsite 2) which is located at the entrance of the active site. The Ca$\^$2＋/-site 3a,b may have a major role for the activity and specificity of this CGTase, although it is not even conserved for the a-subclass of CGTases.

Along with the significance of algebraic thinking in elementary school, it has been recently emphasized that the properties of number and operations need to be explored in a meaningful way rather than in an implicit way. Given this, the purpose of this study was to analyze how third graders could understand the properties of operations in multiplication after they were taught such properties through a reconstructed unit of multiplication. For this purpose, the students from three classes participated in this study and they completed pre-test and post-test of the properties of operations in multiplication. The results of this study showed that in the post-test most students were able to employ the associative property, commutative property, and distributive property of multiplication in (two digits) × (one digit) and were successful in applying such properties in (two digits) × (two digits). Some students also refined their explanation by generalizing computational properties. This paper closes with some implications on how to teach computational properties in elementary mathematics.

This study was conducted to analyze the characteristics of odonata communities as habitat types in Wonju City, Korea. The 33 plots were installed at 4 types of biotope like abandoned paddy fields, natural type reservoir, natural type river and forest valley in Wonju city. From the survey, the 9 family and 38 species were identified. As the result of comparative investigation of the species composition of each habitat through TWINSPAN analyzing, the difference of species composition was definite in abandoned paddy field, natural type reservoir and forest valley, however, it was uncertain in natural type river. The dominant species and the subdominant species of each habitat were mainly Sympetrum frequens and Sympetrum infuscatum but the distributions of Paracercion hieroglyphicum, Epophthalmia elegans, and Anax parthenope julius were different as haibtat types. The order of the index of species diversity was not different between abandoned paddy fiedls, natural type reservoir and natural type river, but forest valley was low. The abandoned paddy field was shown the most diverse spawning type of odonata, it is considered that hydrophyten play an important role in the abundant of odonata since the sorts of odonata spawning in plants are majority. As the result of analyzing interspecies relationship, Crocothemis servilia mariannae and Orthetrum albistylum, Crocothemis servilia mariannae-Platycnemis phyllopoda, Lyriothemis pachygastra-Sympetrum parvulum are shown the positive correlation, however, they have a difference in preferred habitat between high correlation species.

이 논문은 독일어의 겹자음회피현상을 설명함에 있어 어휘음운론에서의 분석이 보이는 문제들을 지적하고, 이 문제들이 제약에 바탕을 둔 이론에서는 어떻게 해결될 수 있는가를 보인다. 제약들간의 상호작용에서 특히 중요한 역할을 하는 것이 단일형태실현제약 (Uniform Exponence)으로서, 이 제약을 통해 독일어 동사의 현재시제, 단수, 2인칭 형태와 3인칭형태에서 나타나는 겹자음회피현상이 동사의 어형변화표 (Verbparadigma)와 밀접한 관련이 있음을 알 수 있다. 이는 규칙들을 통해 2인칭과 3인칭의 올바른 형태를 각각 개별적으로 찾아내는 어휘음운론의 분석과는 근본적으로 다르다. 왜냐하면 어휘음운론의 분석에 따를 때, 예를 들어 3인칭 동사 arbeitet에서 Schwa 모음의 삽입은 겹자음회피를 위해 일어난다고 설명되지만 겹자음이 없음에도 불구하고 Schwa 모음이 마찬가지로 삽입되는 2인칭동사 arbeitest는 설명되지 않기 때문이다. 이런 분석에서는 2인칭 형태와 3인칭 형태가 서로 아무런 관련 없이 각기 따로 존재하게된다. 이에 반해 단일형태제약은 이 두개의 형태를 동시에 비교하므로, 동사 굴절형태에서 마치 불필요한 것으로 보이는 모음삽입이나 자음탈락의 원인에 대해 이론적인 근거를 제시할 수 있다. 즉 2인칭 형태와 3인칭 형태는 보다 상위의 제약들이 막지 않는 한 서로 최대한 비슷한 형태를 가지려고 한다. 이 논문은 겹자음 회피를 위한 수단으로서 모음삽입이나 자음탈락은 오로지 이를 통해 동사의 어형변화표가 좋아질 때만 가능하다는 것을 보여줌으로써 규칙이론이 포착하지 못하고 있는 중요한 일반화를 제시하고 있다. 단일형태 실현제약의 중요성은 접두사 in- 과 un- 이 어간과 결합할 때 보이는 대조를 통해서도 확인된다. 여기서도 어휘음운론의 다층어휘부 구조에 의한 설명이 갖는 문제점이 제약들간의 상호작용을 통해 해결될 수 있음을 알 수 있다.VII-1 및 VII-2공의 3600 m 하부층은 건성 가스 생성 단계에까지 도달한 것으로 나타났다. JDZ VII-1, VII-2 시추공의 3500 m 하위 구간의 올리고세 퇴적층에서 유기물 함량 및 수소 지수가 급격히 감소하는 것은 매몰 심도가 깊어지면서 유기물이 열 분해되어 이미 탄화수소를 생성한 것으로 해석된다. JDZ VII-1 및 VII-2 시추공의 가스징후 및 길소나이트 (gilsonite)는 탄화수소가 생성되어 이동한 흔적을 시사한다.을 해석할 수 있음을 보여주는 것으로 평가된다. 다만 PLAYMAKER2가 보다 신뢰할 만한 퇴적환경 해석을 위한 전문가 시스템으로 구축되기 위해서는 향후 많은 퇴적학 전문가들이 추가로 참여하여 기존 규칙들을 재검증하고 새로운 규칙들을 첨가함으로써 보디 세련된 지식베이스를 개발하여야 할 것으로 판단된다.이며 세 개의 산소가 이루는 평면에서 $1.68{\AA}$ 소다라이트내로 이동하여 위치한다. 32개의 $Tl^{+}$ 이온은 결정학적 자리 II에 존재하고 있으며 산소와의 결합거리를 $2.70(1){\AA}$을 유지하면서 큰 동공속으로 $1.48{\AA}$ 이동하여 위치한다. 약 18개의 $Tl^+$ 이온은 결정학적 자리III에, 또 다른 10개의 $Tl^+$ 이온은 결정학적 자리III'에 존재하고 골조 산소와 각각 $2.86(2){\AA},\;2.96(4){\AA}$의 결합거리를 이룬다.

19대 총선에서 특정 후보를 홍보하기 위한 목적으로 개인 맞춤형 위치기반소셜네트워크서비스(LBSNS, Location Based Social Network Service) 앱(App)을 기획하여 개발하고 선거기간 동안 활용함으로써 선거 전후 해당 후보의 지지율 변화에 어느 정도 기여했는지 그 영향을 분석하였다. 대전광역시 6개 지역구 24명의 후보를 대상으로 개인 맞춤형 LBSNS 앱을 활용한 후보와 그렇지 않은 후보를 구분하여 선거운동 기간 동안 언론에 공개적으로 발표된 지지율과 개표 결과를 바탕으로 개인별 지지율 변화를 비교하였다. 해당 앱을 활용한 3명의 후보는 각각 12.6%, 11.4% 및 11.2%씩 두 자리 수의 지지율 상승이 있었지만 나머지 21명의 후보들은 지지율 변화는 모두 3% 이내로 머물러 개인맞춤형 스마트폰 앱을 활용함으로써 후보 지지율 상승에 상당한 효과가 있었음이 밝혀졌다.

A weedy rice, Ganghwaaengmi 11, shows high level of leaf blast resistance. The chromosomal number and locations of genes conferring the leaf blast resistance were detected by QTL (quantitative trait loci) analysis using SSR markers in the 120 RILs (recombinant inbred lines) derived from the cross between Nagdongbyeo and Ganghwaaengmi 11. Ganghwaaengmi 11 expressed compatibility with 20 of the 45 inoculated blast isolates, in contrast to Nagdongbyeo with 44 compatible isolates. To identify QTLs affecting partial resistance, RILs were assessed in upland blast nursery in three regions and inoculated with selected nine blast isolates. QTLs for resistance to blast isolates were identified on chromosomes 7, 11 and 12. Three QTLs associated with blast resistance in nursery test at three regions were also detected on chromosomes 7, 11 and 12. The QTL commonly detected on chromosome 12 was only increased blast resistance by Ganghwaaengmi 11 allele. This QTL accounted for 60.3~78.6% of the phenotypic variation in the blast nursery test. OSR32 and RM101 markers tightly linked to QTL for blast resistance on chromosome 12 might be useful for marker-assisted selection (MAS) and gene pyramiding to improve the blast resistance of japonica rice.

The open-chain hexadentate $N_6$, ligand containing two pyridyl groups, 1,15-bis(2-pyridyl)-2,6,10,14-tetraazapentadecane (bpyped) has been synthesized as its tetrahydroehloride salt and characterized by EA, IR, NMR, and Mass. Its proton dissociation constants($logK{^n}_H$) and stability constants ($log\;K_{ML}$) for Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions were determined at $25^{\circ}C$ and ionic strength 0.10 M($KNO_3$) in aqueous solution by potentiometry and compared with those or analogous $N_6$ ligands contain one or two propylenic spacers, which make six-membered chelate rings, between the aliphatic nitrogen atoms.

A 5-year-old male Chihuahua with oral discomfort due to the presence of a maxillary acanthomatous epulis was referred to the acupuncture service at the Veterinary Medical Center of the University of Florida. For the patient, acupuncture treatments were performed for 11 sessions, at 1 month intervals with Chinese herbal medicine. The acupuncture points and Chinese herbal medicine used were selected based on TCM principles. The selected acupoints were Zusanli(ST36), Fenglong(ST40), Gongsun(SP4), Sanyinjiao(SP6), Pishu(BL20), Weishu(BL21), Taichang(LIV3), and Baihui(GV20). In addition, the Chinese herbal formulas Nei Xiao Wan and Si Jun Zi Tang were chosen. After one year of acupuncture and administration of Chinese herbal medicine, the acanthomatous epulis was remarkably decreased in size. It is considered that the use of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine would be useful treatments of canine acanthomatous epulis.

Monthly variation of species composition and abundance of fish eggs were examined to know the spawning time and location of the fishes inhabiting the coastal region of Jejudo Island. Samplings had been performed at the four locations (Jeju port, Seongsanpo, Seogwipo port and Chagwido) with a bongo net which was towed monthly at the sea surface from August 2006 to July 2007. The fish eggs were identified based on phylogenetic analyses with the DNA sequences generated through PCR-amplification and sequencing of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene. Among a total of 43 taxa classified during the study period, 34 were identified to species, 4 to families, and the remaining 5 were unidentified. Of them, 23 taxa were occurred at Jeju port, 21 at Seongsanpo, 19 at Seogwipo port and 18 at Chagwido, whereas 15 taxa were found in September 2006, 12 in June 2007, 6 to 8 in August 2006 and January~May 2007, 5 in each October and November 2006, 3 in each December 2006 and July 2007. Among 34 species of fish eggs, Engraulis japonicus and Callanthias japonicus most frequently appeared at 16 times out of 48 observations in total. When those eggs were collected, the surface seawater temperature ranged $14.0{\sim}28.6^{\circ}C$ for E. japonicus and $14.9{\sim}20.5^{\circ}C$ for C. japonicus. The success rates of PCR-amplification and species identification in this study were 68.3% and 79.1%, respectively.

A new species, Fimbristylis drizae J. Kim & M. Kim, is named and described from Sucheong Lake, Jeongeup-si, Jeollabuk-do, Korea. Fimbristylis drizae shares several characters (five-angled culm, 1-2 bladeless sheath, and compound anthela inflorescence) with the related species F. diphylloides Makino. It is, however, distinct from F. diphylloides, which has two to three stigmas, ovate spikelets, two stamens, a blackish brown scale, and a roadside habitat. In contrast, the new species has two stigmas, oval spikelets, one (or rarely two) stamens, a yellowish brown scale, and a lakeside habitat.
