The theory for long wave scattering (Proudman, 1914: Longuet-Higgins, 1970) is applied to a tidal-frequency Kelvin wave propagating around a small cylindrical island in a shelf sea of uniform depth. The theory includes the effects of bottom friction on wave propagation. The theoretical analysis of the Kelvin wave around the island. this amplitude change results in a uniform amplitude of the total wave along the circumference of the island in an inviscid fluid, and the dynamic cause of this is explained in terms of Coriolis effects. Bottom friction attenuates the amplitude of the total wave from the frontal side of the island to the leeward side, but the amplitude variation along the coast becomes symmetric to the line connecting both idea. The phase of the scattered wave contributes to more rapid travel of the total wave in the front and leeward side than farther offshore. The effects of bottom friction on the wave phase around the island are negligible.
The floating body discussed in this study is a 2-D rectangular floating unit supported by four vertical piles at its corners. Structures of this type are frequently seen as floating piers for the crafts in a small harbour. The movement in some modes of motion of such a flating body is fully or partially restrincted by the piles. The authors(Kim et al. 1994) carried out a series of model tests on its wave control function, its motion and the loads on piles. The experimental results showed that a certain degree of intial constriction force which clamps the floating unit in the horizontal direction can effectively reduce the body motion and wave energy without increasing mooring forces. This may be due to the friction forces occuring between the piles and the rollers installed in the mooring equipments on the floating unit. In this paper, we develop a numerical model for the prediction of wave transformation and floating body motions, where the friction force is idealized as the Coulomb friction and linearized into a damping force using the equivalent damping cofficient. This linearization is verified by comparing the results of motions between the linear and nonlinear analysis of the ezuations of motion. We further compare the caculation results by the linear model with the experimental results and discuss the effect of the friction force or the constriction force on body motions and wave energy dissipation.

This study proposes a new calculation method for generating real nighttime lamp-lit images. In order to improve the color appearance in the prediction of a nighttime lamp-lighted scene, the lamp-lit image is synthesized based on spectral distribution using the estimated local spectral distribution of the headlamps and the surface reflectance of every object. The Principal component analysis method is introduced to estimate the surface color of an object, and the local spectral distribution of the headlamps is calculated based on the illuminance data and spectral distribution of the illuminating headlamps. HID and halogen lamps are utilized to create beam patterns and captured road scenes are used as background images to simulate actual headlamp-lit images on a monitor. As a result, the reproduced images presented a color appearance that was very close to a real nighttime road image illuminated by single and multiple headlamps compared to the conventional graphic-based algorithm.

Recently, wireless networks are becoming an important infrastructure for the critical large-scale applications such as cyber-physical systems and next generation industrial automations. However, the fundamental performance uncertainty of wireless networks may incur the serious instability problem of the overall systems. This paper proposes the proactive network optimizer to guarantee the application demands without any real-time link monitoring information of the networks. In particularly, the proposed proactive optimizer is the cross-layer approach to jointly optimize the routing path and traffic distribution in order to guarantee the performance demand within a maximum k number of link faults. Through the simulations, the proposed proactive network optimizer provides better robustness than the traditional existing reactive networks. Furthermore, the proactive network does not expose to the major weakness of the reactive networks such as the performance degradation due to the erroneous link monitoring information and the network reconfiguration cost.
In this paper, dynamic elastic module of banded gneiss were calculated on the basis of SPS velocity logging data obtained from a geotechnical test-hole in Pungsan-dong, Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, Korea. This study mainly focuses on the velocity analysis, Q factor calculation relative to attenuation factor, and generation of crack information and its relation with seismic velocity. As a result, P-wave and S-wave velocity of fresh hard rock was 5,559m/s and 3,063m/s, respectively, with Poisson's ratio being 0.28. With these results, dynamic modules were prepared, and crack information analyzed by acoustic televiewer was incorporated to identify the correlation among and between delay of first arrival by crack amplitude ratio, and velocity. The results of this study revealed that the analyzed logging hole mainly consisted of micro crack and a number of cracks and the size of crack aperture, functioned as a variable to seismic velocity in the micro crack area of this type of hard rock.

This work proposes an 8b 220 MS/s 230 mW 3-stage pipeline CMOS ADC with on-chip filers for temperature- and power- insensitive voltage references. The proposed RC low-pass filters improve switching noise performance and reduce reference settling time at heavy R & C loads without conventional off-chip large bypass capacitors. The prototype ABC fabricated in a 0.25 um CMOS occupies the active die area of 2.25 $\textrm{mm}^2$ and shows the measured DNL and INL of maximum 0.43 LSB and 0.82 LSB, respectively. The ADC maintains the SNDR of 43 dB and 41 dB up to the 110 MHz input at 200 MS/s and 220 MS/s, respectively, while the SNDR at the 500 MHz input is degraded as much as only 3 dB than the SNDR at the 110 MHz input.

In this paper, we propose and analyze a concatenated coding scheme for DS/CDMA systems in asynchronous channels. In the concatenated coding, bandwidth efficient $2^{2L-2}$-state ${\frac{L}{L+1}}$-rate 2-MTCM with biorthogonal signal constellation is used for the inner code, and $(2^{L-1},\;{\lceil}\frac{2^{L-1}}{L/2}{\rceil})$ RS code is use for the outer code. It is shown that we can get considerable performance gain over the uncoded system without sacrificing the data transmission rate. The proposed system can be used as a coding scheme for reliable and high speed integrated information services of mobile communication systems.
The representative communication method which is applied in the low-speed power line communication modem with 60bps is single carrier method. It has been used mainly for the control. The single carrier method is very sensitive to a power line communication channel environment. Specially, the severe attenuation of the transmission signal according to the notch characteristics of channel becomes the main cause of communication error. Domestic power line channel environment has this notable feature. In this paper, we implemented the low-speed power line communication system which used the chirp signal method to be strong in notch and noise characteristics. In this research, we proposed the method which transmits 1- '1 Unit symbol Chirp signal' with a 100${\mu}s$ time within 1ms for 1 bit. Also it applied for the Convolution code for an error correction and the Manchester code for a collision perception and an error detection. It used the method which uses the bit correlator for signal detection in the receiver parts. We confirmed that the communication method of the chirp method has a excellent performance compared to single carrier methods with a result of experiment of the low-speed power line communication system with the 60bps.
This paper proposes a method to improve the left right discrimination performance by eliminating the imaginary target based on the frequency features of the beam pattern for bow array. The beamwidth of the imaginary target is wider than that of the real target. If an azimuth axis is considered as a time axis, the real and the imaginary targets can be assumed as high and low frequencies, respectively. To eliminate the imaginary target which has a low frequency component, we design a cut-off frequency of the High Pass Filter (HPF) using the back-lobe imaginary beamwidth. The real target is estimated by eliminating the imaginary target by applying HPF to the entire power of the beamformer output. Computer simulations show that the proposed method can increase the left right discrimination performance above 8 dB on average.

Conventional acoustic echo cancelers using ES(Exponentially weighted Stepsize) algorithm have simple operational configuration and fast convergence speed batter then NLMS algorithm, but they are very weak in external noise because ES algorithm updates filter taps using an average energy reduction rate of room impulse response in specific acoustical condition. So, a new configuration of acoustic echo canceler with stepsize generator and selector is proposed in this thesis. The proposed stepsize generator and selector improve conventional acoustic echo canceler's weakness in external noise and improve the system robustness. The stepsize generator generates additional stepsize value using moving averager, which is the residual noise energy of error signal multiplied by constant ${\gamma}$. The stepsize selector selects the stepsize value that has better performance in an acoustic echo canceler using a coefficient decision factor ${\Delta}_{differ}$ The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm reduces residual error by 5[dB] to 10[dB], improves misadjustment regardless of external noise's SNR.
