  • The purpose of this study is to investigate influencing factors of nursing students' academic stress focusing on dimensions of empathy, ego-resilience, and stress coping strategies. Academic stress, dimensions of empathy, ego-resilience, and stress coping strategies among subjects were collected using structured questionnaires from 305 nursing students between November 1, 2015 and November 30, 2015. The results of this study showed that the factors affecting nursing students' academic stress were grade, personality orientation, major satisfaction, ego-resilience and emotion focused coping style, and the total explanatory power was 54.1%. To improve nursing students' academic stress, it is necessary to pay attention to the nursing students who are in their upper grades, extroverted, and with low major satisfaction. In developing a program to reduce academic stress, it is thought that it is necessary to include measures to raise the level of ego-resilience and to improve the level of emotion focused coping style among stress-coping strategies, and to conduct subsequent research to identify pathways in which the dimensions of empathy, ego-resilience and stress-coping strategies affect academic stress.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the correlations among learning self-efficacy, confidence in performance, perception of importance and transfer intention for core basic nursing skill in nursing students. The subjects of this study were 2nd grade students at a nursing university. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, the transfer intention had a correlation with the learning self-efficacy (r=.49, p<.001), confidence in performance (r=.30, p=.006), perception of the importance (r=.31, p=.005). The results of this study suggest that further research is necessary to verify the causal relationship between the transfer intention and the related variables in order to develop an effective education program for promoting the transfer intention.

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to identify perceptions about the relationship between poverty and health and examined the attitudes toward poverty among nursing students. This study administered a standardized questionnaire to 198 nursing students at a university. The data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. The results of the study showed that nursing students recognized the importance of nursing education for poverty. They also recognized that clinical practice and extra-curricular programs such as volunteer activities were necessary for nursing education. Furthermore, they were aware of the vicious cycle of poverty and health; however, their awareness of the health behavior of the poor was insufficient. In the perception of attitudes toward poverty, individual explanations of poverty tended to be more common than structural explanations, and there was a difference in scores according to age, economic level, political orientation, and clinical practice. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop programs, such as multidisciplinary convergence clinical practice education and volunteer activities, to produce competent nurses to health inequity care for the poor.

  • This study was conducted to identify disaster awareness, disaster preparedness, and ego-resilience in the college of nursing students', and to analyze correlation between study variables. The study subjects were 300 nursing students in four universities in two cities. Data were collected between April 1 and April 30, 2019 using by completing structured self report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using T-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS/WIN 22.0. In correlation analysis, significant positive correlations were found between disaster awareness, disaster preparedness, and ego-resilience. Therefore, we propose to develop convergence education programs to imp rove disaster awareness, disaster preparedness, and ego-resilience in order to improve competency related to disaster management of nursing students.

The subjects were 289 nursing students in year 1 in J college taking fundamental nursing practice course from Nov. 22 to Dec. 10. 2010. After setting hospital context and preparing scenario with patient and nurse roles, the evaluation of fundamentals of nursing practice was performed. For learning motivation and self-directed learning ability, there were significant differences by application motivation, a group intending further study and a group positive in role play evaluation. For problem solving process, there were significant differences in male group and a group positive in role play evaluation. Learning motivation had significant positive correlation between self-directed learning ability and between self-directed learning ability and problem solving process. This evaluation had correlation between learning motivation, self-directed learning ability and problem solving process.

  • This study was conducted through a focus group interview of 4 teams of 40 nursing students to provide basic data for the development of customized cadaver practice programs and life and nursing ethics education by identifying the anatomical observation experiences of nursing students through cadaver. We tried to grasp the meaning and essence of the anatomical observation experience using the Colaizzi analysis method. As a result of the analysis, 3 categories, 6 theme clusters, and 12 themes were derived. The theme clusters for each category are as follows: Unrest (worry, confrontation), reflection (the boundary between life and death, teaching of the body teacher), growth (step forward, a valuable experience that will never be again). It was an opportunity for nursing students to realize the mystery of the human body and the preciousness of life through the experience of cadaver, and to consider the altruistic life through donation while recognizing that death is also a process of life in a broad sense.

  • This study was conducted with the aim of exploring the essence of the achievements experienced by nursing students while enhancing their problem-solving abilities through simulation practical training. The study participants included 13 fourth-year nursing students, and data were collected through individual interviews conducted after the simulation practical training. Data analysis followed the qualitative research method of content analysis, involving coding, categorization, and thematization of the data. The results of this study revealed that nursing students' achievement experiences through simulation practical training included the following processes: "confirming confidence through improvement," "acknowledging change," "experiencing nursing self-efficacy," and "getting closer to the goal of clinical practice." Furthermore, it is suggested that efforts should be made to implement efficient operation and evaluation tools through multifaceted and meticulous design to promote integrated learning through simulation practical training and to confirm the process of internalizing knowledge through reflection by nursing students.
