It indicates that individual and family factor had significant relationship with family stress and elder abuse. Second, according SEM which focused on relationship with factors of this study, family factor was not influenced with family stress but family stress had an effect with elder abused. • This study attempts to analyze the mechanism of the academic engagement of middle schoolers participating in family education in Technology and Home Economics Education (T&HEE), their resilience, and their parent-child relationships. The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of resilience on the association between academic engagement and the parent-child relationship. The participants of the study were 194 middle schoolers in Sejong-si. The data were analyzed using PROCESS macro (Model 4), a method for verifying the mediating effect using bootstrapping. As a result of the study, first, there are significant positive correlations among academic engagement, resilience, and the parent-child relationship. Second, the result shows resilience as a complete mediating effect on the association between academic engagement and the parent-child relationship. These findings suggest the way to improve the relationship of adolescents with their parents is to enhance the middle school learners' resilience by actively participating in family education classes in T&HEE.

The research results were as follows. First, the family health of single-parent families was partially positively correlated with self-regulation and social competence of infants. Second, it was found that the self-regulation ability of infants had a mediating effect on the relationship between single-parent family health and the social competence of infants. Considering the results of this study, it could be understood that the social competence of infants is affected by the relationship between family members rather than the family type of a single-parent family.

  • This study verified theoretical model to explain adolescents' addictive use of smartphone. I used the data of 679 middle and high school students among 2013 internet addiction survey of National Information Society Agency(NIA). This study utilized structural equation modeling analysis to compare a suggestive model and alternative model. According to the final model, higher the satisfaction of family relationship, the addictive use of smartphone and emotional problems of adolescents were reduced. And, higher the addictive use of smartphone, higher the emotional problems of adolescents. Also, family relationship affects emotional problems via addictive use of smartphone. While, in the alternative model, path from amount of smartphone use to addictive use of smartphone was not significant. Results of this study suggest that family relationship variable may play an antecedent factor of addictive use of smartphone and emotional problems of adolescents and control of smartphone use is important to keeping a mental health of adolescents.

  • This study is conducted to provide empirical evidences which support that the problems of social isolation and loneliness of elderly can be alleviated by intervening the inter-generational relationship of the elderly by means of active ageing policy. The major empirical challenge to address this question is the possibility of selection bias caused by reversed causal relationship. To address this challenge, I constructed comparison group with 'Eligible Non-Participants' (ENP), and used instrumental variable method to estimate the empirical model. My findings indicate that inter-generational relationship, both in the aspects of economical solidarity and associational solidarity, is significantly improved as time use pattern of the elderly becomes more active. The improvement effect is intensively observed for the group of elderly who do not live with their adult children. The important policy implication of these findings is that the improvement of inter-generational relationship can be added as a new benefit of active ageing policy.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effect of family relationship (relationship with spouse and adult children)about the impact of economical status and health(physical health, cognitive health) on depression. The data came from Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) 2005 of Korea labor institute. 2,566 individuals(male 1,535, female 1,031) with spouse and aged 65 and over were selected for this study. Using the multiple regression model, we found that significant effect of economical status, physical health and cognitive health on depression. Also relationship with spouse moderated the effect of economical status on depression and relationship with adult children moderated the effect of cognitive health on depression. The results of this study suggest that family relationship is important variable to reduce depression of the elderly.
