  • Ducted rocket produces thrust by 2 steps, primary incomplete combustion in the gas generator, and secondary complete combustion reaction in combustion chamber mixed by air taken through duct. the range of a rocket is determined by the weight of propellant, especially the weight of fuel. So ducted rocket has more efficiency and high terminal speed compared to traditional solid rocket motor. This propulsion system expected to be applied to various kinds of missile for anti-aircraft, anti-ship

  • We investigated design requirements of feed water drain and hydrogen vent systems for the sodium-water reaction pressure relief system (SWRPRS) of the prototype generation IV sodium cooled fast reactor (PGSFR). We evaluated the areas of the gas vent pipe of the water dump tank and the length of the water drain pipe of the steam generator to rapid drain of the water steam inside the steam generator for the normal and refueling operations, respectively. We also calculated the diameter of the gas vent pipe of the sodium dump tank which met its design pressure.

  • The current status of the development of pyrostarters, which play a role as a turbo pump starter in liquid propellant propulsion systems by supplying pressurized gas to power turbines for engine start, has been introduced. Firstly, the development history is briefly summarized, and secondly the current technical status in core parts for the development of pryrostarters such as solid propellants, internal ballistics, rupture discs, and igniters are presented. The current technical achievements could make it feasible to fulfill the development requirements for pyrostarters.

  • Pyrostarters play a role as a turbopump starter in liquid propellant propulsion systems by supplying pressurized gas to power turbines for engine start. A rupture disk in pyrostarters, which is usually installed behind a nozzle throat, not only isolates the charged solid propellants from the external environment but also improves the ignitability of the solid propellants by increasing a chamber pressure at the beginning of combustion. Experimental tests have been performed to study the effects of rupture disk thickness, depth and shape of scores, and pressure build-up rates on burst pressures and burst diameters. The experimental results show that the developed rupture disk fulfills the performance requirements expected in a real operational condition.

  • The combined cycle plant is an integration of gas turbine and steam turbine, combining the advantages of both cycles. It recovers the heat energy from gas turbine exhaust to use it to generate steam. The heat recovery steam generator plays a crucial role in combined cycle plants, providing the link between the gas turbine and the steam turbine. Simulation of the performance of the HRSG is required to study its effect on the entire cycle and system. Computational fluid dynamics has potential to become a useful to validate the performance of the HRSG. In this study a solver has been implemented in the open source code, OpenFOAM, for combustion simulation in the heat recovery steam generator. The solver is based on the steady laminar flamelet model to simulate detailed chemical reaction mechanism. Thereafter, the solver is used for simulation of HRSG system. Three cases with varying fuel injections and gas turbine exhaust gas flow rates were simulated and the results were compared with measurements at the system outlet. Predicted temperature and emissions and those from measurements showed the same trend and in quantitative agreement.

  • In this study, a 2-W micro-gas turbine engine was designed using micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology, and analytical and experimental investigations of its potential under actual combustion conditions were performed. An ultra-micro-gas turbine contains a turbo-charger, combustor, and generator. A compressor, turbine blade, and generator coil were manufactured using MEMS technology. The shaft was supported by a precision computer numerical control machined air bearing, and a permanent magnet was attached to the end of the shaft for generation. An analysis found that the cooling effect of the air bearing and compressor was sufficient to cover the combustor heat, which was verified in an actual experiment.

  • Gas turbine generators in load-following operation in the domestic power system play a major role in maintaining the rated frequency, but often have poor frequency control. Therefore, after examining the control characteristics of the governor, which is a gas turbine speed control device, and analyzing the failure types, countermeasures were suggested for each case. In addition, it was confirmed through the governor response test that the gas turbine helps in frequency recovery depending on the speed of fuel control, but also acts as a factor impeding stable operation, such as rapid fluctuations in combustion chamber temperature and combustion vibration. Therefore, in order to maintain stable power quality, there was a need for thorough facility management as well as research on the governor control method in which the traditional PID control method and the machine learning algorithm, a core field of the 4th industry, were fused.

  • The power control system of Smart UAV is similar to the propeller pitch governing concept of turboprop aircraft. The pilot inputs the engine power directly and the pitch governor controls the rotational speed of proprotor. In this paper, the engine status data from ground test of Smart UAV, such as the relationship of PLA vs. Gas generator speed and power are compared with the result of engine performance calculation program.

  • Water-Electrolyzed gas is a mixed gas of the constant volume ratio 2:1 Hydrogen and Oxygen gained from electrolyzed water, and it has better characteristics in the field of economy, efficiency of energy, and environmental intimacy than acetylene gas and LPG used for existing gas welding equipment. So studies of Water-Electrolyzed gas are activity in progress nowadays, and commercially used as a source of thermal energy for gas welding in the industry. The object of this paper is V-I feature of Hydrogen -Oxygen Gas Generator using DC source
