Musical Characteristics Analysis of Lee Mi-Ja and Pati Kim by Sasang Constitution Classification Method in Appearance & Manner of Speaking (용모사기론적 사상체질 분류를 통한 이미자, 패티김의 음악적 특징 분석)

  • The 50th anniversary of life as popular a female singer Lee Mi-Ja & Pati Kim in this paper analyzed out their musical characteristics to apply the analysis method of the Sasang constitution. From this, we are applied appearance & manner of speaking's method to classify the constitution through the face and voice features in the Sasang constitution classification method. Therefore, we are quantitatively analyzed out result of the Sasang constitution classification through voice and face of the visual comparison of the same ages by technological application of appearance & manner of speaking 's method. Also, experiment results also are applied to Lee Mi-Ja & Pati Kim and the same experiment to confirm that the result based on the two female singers analyzed their musical characteristics through comparison and analysis to face shape and the features of a tone based on the Sasang constitution about two female singers.

A Case Study on Vocal Aerobic Treatment Voice Therapy Development and Application for Classical Singers (성악가를 위한 VAT 음성치료 개발 및 적용 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of semi-closed vocal training-based Vocal Aerobic Treatment on the voice improvement of soprano. Study subject was one soprano who appealed to the suffering of her voice problem due to vocal cord nodule. A study method of conducting pre/post acoustic evaluation and subjective voice evaluation to compare the measures was used; Vocal Aerobic Treatment was carried out twice a week for a total of 32 session. In the acoustic evaluation, MDVP (multi-dimensional voice program) and VRP (voice range profile) were used to evaluate the pitch, voice quality, and voice range; in the subjective voice evaluation, SVHI (singing voice handicap index) was used to assess voice satisfaction. As a result of the pitch evaluation, the soprano maintained a proper Fo. As a result of the voice quality evaluation, the jitter, shimmer, and the noise harmonic ratio numbers decreased compared to the numbers shown before the treatment. As a result of the voice range evaluation, the scope of the range was broadened, with the number of semitone increasing from 30 to 35. As for the subjective voice evaluation, the result of the total score obtained after the survey report divided by the number of questions showed a decrease from 3.6 to 0.6. The soprano herself reported of having a minor extent of a voice problem. The summary of the above results reflects that Vocal Aerobic Treatment is useful in the voice improvement of vocalists However, as this study is case research regarding the Vocal Aerobic Treatment effect on one soprano, further research on the treatment effect covering many other vocalists is necessary. Also, there is a need for follow-up studies regarding voice management and voice treatment program on not only the vocalists but also the voice users in many other professions.

Property and Inhibition of the Hydrolysis of Ginseng Saponins by Organic Acids Neutralization in Ginseng Extract Preparations (인삼(人蔘)의 가열추출(加熱抽出) 과정(過程) 중 사포닌의 가수분해(加水分解) 특성(特性) 및 유기산중화(有機酸中和)에 의한 분해억제(分解抑制))

  • Glucosidic bond at the $C_{20}$ position of the sapogenins was hydrolyzed easily in the lower pH, higher temperature and longer time to give prosapogenins and sugars. The glucosidic bond of saponin at the $C_3\;of\; ginsenoside-Rb_1\;$, which is secondary carbon, was relatively stable due to the low electron density of -0.2. But the bond of saponin at the $C_{20}$ position, which is tertiary carbon with the relatively high electron density of -0.3, was liable to be hydrolyzed even in weak acidic solution by the increase of heating time. On the other hand, fresh and white ginseng contained 4.12 mg/g, 13.05 mg/g of citric acid, 0.68 mg/g, 2.18 mg/g of malonic acid, 1.13 mg/g, 3.68 mg/g of oxalic acid, 2.68 mg/g, 8.62 mg/g of malic acid and 0.13 mg/g, 0.46 mg/g of succinic acid, respectively. Ginseng saponins were very stable in ginseng extract neutralized with sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate corresponding to the equivalent amount of the total organic acid in the ginseng.

  • Sound pressure level, subglottic air pressure, vital capacity, adduction/abduction rate, and phonatory efficiency were measured in 19 opera singers, 17 Korean traditional 'Pansori' singers, and 20 non-singers; subjects' mean age was 25.9(SD=7.2) and the singers had been singing professionally for 5-10 years. One-way ANOVA and Scheff$\w'{e}$ post-hoc analysis were used to analyze aerodynamic data and to identify significant differences among groups. Sound pressure level, peak subglottic air pressure, and phonatory efficiency were found to be significantly different among three groups of the subjects. Differences in aerodynamic properties were discussed for their significance in diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders in professional singers.

Antimicrobial Activity of Soy Protein Hydrolysate with Asp. saitoi Pretense (콩 단백 효소 가수분해물의 항균활성)

  • Soy protein was hydrolyzed by 5 different pretenses and determinated antimicrobial activity of each hydrolysate. The soy protein hydrolysate treated by pretense from Aspergillus saitoi showed the highest antimicrobial activity among the protease studied and was used for further analysis. Soy protein hydrolysate was fractionated by ultrafiltration for M.W. 10,000,3,000 and 1,000. The M.W 1,000∼3,000 showed the highest antimicrobial activity. The minimum inhibition concentrations of obtained fraction were 0.5∼0.8 mg/mL for gram positive and negative microbials, and its activity was even observed after heating at 121$^{\circ}C$ for 10 min, suggesting that hydrolyzed protein having antimicrobial activity is quite heat-stable. Reverse-phase HPLC was further applied to separate the fraction and 8 peaks were found. Each 8 peaks were separated and pooled and measured antimicrobial activity. Among them, retention time of peak at 16.02 min showed the prominent antimicrobial activity.

  • Pilot scale(2.5 ton) three-stage methane fermentation process was developed for the rapid production of methane from food wastes in our laboratory. Eleven strains responsible for the primary semianaerobic hydrolysis/acidogenic fermentation system were isolated and characterized. Among them, the number of gram positive bacteria was eight and that of gram negative bacteria was three. They were rod and showed positive reaction to catalase. The strain K5 was found to have the highest enzyme activities of amylase and protease.

  • 랩 음악은 음악의 특성과 발화 언어의 특성을 가지고 있으며 음악적 특징을 가진 시와도 공통점을 가진다. 이러한 유사성을 근거로 Eminem이라는 랩 가수의 freestyle음악을 음성분석 프로그램을 사용하여 분석하였다. 대상 음악이 즉석적인 발화였음에도 불구하고 각운 부분에서의 피치(pitch)와 리듬은 매우 유사한 값을 보였다. 분석 결과에서 보여준 약간의 차이 값은 인간의 지각 능력과 성향을 고려하여 봤을 때 같은 피치(pitch) 같은 리듬으로 지각하기에 충분하다고 결론 내렸다.

Synthesis of Partially Hydrolyzed Water-soluble Chitosans and their Antibacterial Activities (부분 가수분해된 수용성 키토산의 제조와 그 항균성에 관한 연구)

  • Chitosan was partially degraded by using nitrous acid. The deacetylation degree of chitosan decreased with its degree of hydrolysis. Deacetylation degree of each fraction was less than 50%. The degraded product was fractionated by means of precipitation using aqueous methanol solution or aqueous methanol-acetone solution. The molecular weight of each fraction was distributed between 6000 and 4000, and below 2000 for being precipitated using aqueous methanol solution and aqueous methanol-acetone solution respectively. They had narrow molecular weight distributions, and their polydispersities were less than 1.7. The antibacterial activities for each fraction were evaluated against Bacillus subtilis HB 101 and E. coli PP 2, gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria, respectively. Fraction B (Mw=5100) showed high antibacteiral activity. All fractions were more active against Bacillus subtilis than E. coli.

Comparison of antioxidant capacity of protein hydrolysates from 4 different edible insects (식용곤충별 단백가수분해물의 항산화 활성 비교)

  • The present study was conducted to compare antioxidant capacities of protein hydrolysates from four different edible insects (Protaetia brevitarsis larvae, Allomyrina dichotoma larvae, Gryllus bimaculatus imago, and Tenebrio molitor larvae) which have recently been registered as food varieties in Korea. Protein hydrolysates were prepared from each insect using enzymatic hydrolysis using alcalase, and were then separated into a fraction containing ${\leq}3kDa$. According to $RC_{50}$ values and trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity results obtained from five different antioxidant analyses, the Gryllus bimaculatus (GB) hydrolysate showed relatively high levels of antioxidant capacity and, in particular, the GB hydrolysate showed considerably strong antioxidant activities in 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging and in ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. The GB hydrolysate also showed the strongest inhibitory effect on peroxidation of linoleic acid, and its rate of inhibition at $100{\mu}g/mL$ on day 3 of treatment was 60.26%. These results suggest that protein hydrolysates from edible insects including GB represent potential sources of natural antioxidants.

Antibacterial and Proteolytic Activities of Bacterial Isolates from Ethnic Fermented Seafoods in the East Coast of Korea (동해안 특산 수산발효식품에서 분리된 균주의 항균 및 단백질 가수분해 활성)

  • We attempted to investigate antibacterial and proteolytic activities of bacteria isolated from three ethnic fermented seafoods in the east coast of South Korea, gajami sikhae, squid jeotgal, and fermented jinuari (Grateloupia filicina). Bacillus cereus ATCC 14579, Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 15313, Staphylococcus aureus KCTC 1916, Escherichia coli O157:H7 ATCC 43895, and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium ATCC 4931 were selected to determine the antibacterial activity of the bacterial isolates. Among 233 isolates from the three foods, 36 isolates (15.5%) showed antibacterial activity against B. cereus ATCC 14579, the highest incidence of inhibition, followed by S. aureus KCTC 1916 (7.7%) and L. monocytogenes ATCC 15313 (6.0%). However, only five and three strains among the isolates exhibited inhibitory activity against Gram-negative indicators, E. coli ATCC 43895 and Sal. enterica ATCC 4931, respectively. The proteolytic activity of the isolates was determined via hydrolysis of skim milk after 24, 48, and 72 h incubation. After 72 h incubation, 72 out of 233 isolates (30.9%) showed proteolytic activity, and the isolates of fermented jinuari exhibited the highest incidence of proteolytic activity (60%, 36 isolates). These results suggest that ethnic fermented seafoods in the east coast of South Korea might be a promising source of bacterial strains producing antibacterial and proteolytic compounds.
