Numerical analysis of chromium deposition through the SOFC cathode channel (고체 산화물 연료전지의 공기극 유로내 크롬 피독에 관한 전산해석)

  • SOFC is a high temperature fuelcell with many advantages, but it also have several demerits. One of the Issues is cathode poisoning of Cr coming from stainless steel interconnects. Diffusion process of Cr evaporated from the surface of interconnect steel was calculated by using CFD technique to understand factors for Cr deposition. It has been cleared that factors concerned in Cr deposition and how they affect Cr deposition. Major variables for Cr deposit ion are diffusion coefficient, air velocity and temperature If diffusion coefficient decreases, Cr concentration increases in the air but decreases on the cathode surface. Increasing in air velocity, Cr concentration decreases in the air and on the cathode surface. Increase in temperature leads to rising Cr concentration on the cathode surface because of diffusion coefficient increment.

  • A study on corrosion and adhesion properties of evaporated Zn-Cr films were conducted on steel strip by two-source evaporater. Corrosion resistance of Zn-Cr coated steel was evaluated by salt spray test in 5% NaCl. Adhesion property of Zn-Cr films on steel substrate was evaluated by tape test after $180^\circC$ bending. Adhesion was improved with increasing the Cr content and reached the maximum at the Cr content of 6 to 8wt%. Corrosion resistance was enhanced with increasing the Cr content and improved by rolling Zn-Cr coated specimen, as a post-treatment.

  • We studied on structure and resistivity, temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of NiCr and NiCr-N thin resistor films prepared by do reactive magnetron sputtering of NiCr target. It is found that while pure NiCr films are polycrystalline, an addition of nitrogen (N2/(Ar+N2) ratios are between 10% and 70%) into the film is changed into amorphous structure and sheet resistance of films is increased. Measurement temperatures of TCR are ratios of $5^{\circ}C$ per 15min from $25^{\circ}C$ to $130^{\circ}C$. TCR for an as-deposited NiCr-N thin film is varied from positive to negative.

  • The effect of Mo underlayer on the magnetic properties of CoCrTa/Cr films deposited on glass substrates were investigated. The coercivity increased and the coercivity squareness decreased by introducing Mo underlayer. The coercivity increase was attributed to the increase of in-plane c-axis orientation and magnetic isolation of Co grains deposited on Cr/Mo underlayer. The decrease of coercivity squarenesses seemed to be caused by the increase of magnetic isolation. The increase of magnetic isolation of Co grains was attributed to the diffusion of Mo atoms into grain boundaries of Co films and the physical isolation of Co grains. The coercivity of CoCrTa/Cr/Mo showed maximum values at Mo thickness of $400{\AA}$. The appearance of the maximum coercivity at that thickness was attributed to the development of strong $Co(10{\bar{1}}0)$ and $Co(10{\bar{1}}1)$ preferred orientation.

  • CrN 코팅막은 고온에서 치밀한 Cr2O3 확산방지막을 형성함으로 $800^{\circ}C$까지 기계적성질을 유지할 수 있다. 본 실험에서는 Ar, N2, 그리고 $O_2$ 가스 분위기에서 AIP(Arc Ion Plating) 기법에 의해 다양한 조성의 Cr-O-N 박막을 Si(200)과 AISI 304 기판 위에 증착되었다. Cr-O-N 코팅막은 47.4at% 미만의 산소함량을 포함 할 때까지 B1구조를 유지하였고 코팅막 내 산소함량 24.6at%에서는 강한 XRD peak intensification을 나타내었다. 47.4at%에서는 결정상을 전혀 찾아볼 수 없는 전이구조를 나타내었고, 그 이상의 산소함량에서는 Cr22O3 결정상을 나타내었다. Cr-O(17at%)-N 조성의 코팅막에서는 (200)배향의 Grain 크기 증가 및 압축잔류응력이 증가하였으나, 그 이상의 산소함량에서는 점차 감소하였다. Cr-O(24.6at%)-N 조성의 코팅막이 가장 높은 경도를 나타내었고, 산소함량이 증가할수록 점차 향상된 마찰특성을 보였다.

A Study on the Erosion-Resistant Cermet Film Coating using the Detonation Spray Method (폭발용사에 의한 내에로젼성 서멧 피막 코팅에 관한 연구)

  • The properties of the detonation sprayed cermet coating are investigated through the mechanical, corrosion and erosion test. The test results are also compared with the properties of the substrate materials, STS 329J1, dual phase stainless steel and the plasma sprayed cermet coatings. The two kinds of carbide cermet power, WC+NiCr, Cr$_3$C$_2$+NiCr were used in this experiment. The experimental results showed that the anti-corrosive and anti-erosive properties of the detonation sprayed cermet coatings are superior to the plasma sprayed cermet coatings. The WC+NiCr cermet coating appears to be more effective than Cr$_3$C$_2$+NiCr cermet coating in abrasive erosion environment, whereas the Cr$_3$C$_2$+NiCr cermet coatings are more effective in cavitation erosion environment.

A study on the carburization of Fe-Cr alloys. (Fe-Cr합금의 침탄에 관한 연구)

  • The properties of carburization on Fe-Cr alloys at 900-96$0^{\circ}C$were investiged. The study on carbide layer which had developed during solid-carburizing was made by use of S.E.M, E.PM.A, and X-ray analyzer. The results obtained were summarized as follows, the composition of carbide and the value of activation energy for the growth of carbide layer on each Fe-Cr alloy were 1) Fe-1Cr : M3C and 52Kcal/mole 2) Fe-3Cr and Fe-5Cr : M7C3and 85-88Kcal/mole 3) Fe-7Cr and Fe-9Cr : (M7C3+M23C6)and 55-66Kcal/mole.

  • $CrN/Al_2O_3/CrN$ 다층 코팅을 HIPIMS와 ALD간 하이브리드 코팅법을 통해 형성하였다. ALD를 통해 CrN 층에 도입한 $Al2O_3$층의 두께 및 위치가 $CrN/Al_2O_3/CrN$ 다층 코팅층의 미세구조, 표면 거칠기, 기계적 특성 및 화학적 특성에 미치는 영향에 대해 조사하였다. 전체 공정시간은 거의 변화시키지 않고도, ALD를 이용한 $Al2O_3$층의 삽입에 의하여 기계적/화학적 특성이 크게 개선될 수 있음을 확인하였으며, 개선된 특성에 대한 원인에 대해 조사하였다.

Determining Factors for the Protectiveness of the Passive Film of FeCrN Stainless Steel Formed in Sulfuric Acid Solutions

  • In NaCl solutions acidified with $H_2SO_4$, Fe20Cr1.1N alloy showed enhanced pitting corrosion resistance than Fe20Cr alloy. An XPS analysis revealed that the passive film of Fe20Cr1.1N alloy contained higher cationfraction of Cr than that of Fe20Cr alloy, and nitrogen was incorporated into the film. In addition, it was found that the passive film of Fe20Cr1.1N alloy was thinner and had higher oxygen vacancy density than that of Fe20Cr alloy. Based on these observations, it was concluded that the chemical composition was the determining factor for the protectiveness of the passive film of Fe20Cr based alloy in dilute $H_2SO_4$ solution.

Synthesis and Mechanical Properties of Nano Laminating $Cr_2AlC$ using $CrC_x/Al$ Powder Mixtures

  • [ $Cr_2AlC$ ] was synthesized by a reactive hot pressing of $CrC_x(x=0.5)$ and Al powder mixture used as starting materials at the temperature range of $1200^{\circ}C{\sim}1400^{\circ}C$ under 25 MPa in Ar atmosphere. Fully dense $Cr_2AlC$ with high purity was synthesized by hot pressing $CrC_x$ and Al powder mixture at the temperature as low as $1200^{\circ}C$. The average grain size of synthesized bulk $Cr_2AlC$ was varied in the range of $10-100{\mu}m$ depending on hot pressing temperatures. The maximum flexural strength of synthesized bulk $Cr_2AlC$ exceeded 600 MPa.
