  • A multi-scale database is a set of spatial database, covering same geographic area with different scales and it can be derived from pre-existing databases. In the derivation processes of a new multi-scale spatial database, the geometries and topological relations on the source database can be transformed and the transformation can be the cause of the lack of integrity Therefore, it is necessary to assess the transformation whether it is consistent or not after the derivation process of a new multi-scale database. Thus, we propose assessment methods for the topological consistency between a source database and a derived multi-scale database in this paper. In particular, we focus on the case that 2-dimensional objects are collapsed to 1-dimensional ones in the derivation process of a multi-scale database. We also describe implementation of the assessment methods and show the results of the implementation with experimental data.

Abstract A test derivation method suitable for testing interoperability for the class of communication protocols like the ATM/B-ISDN signaling protocol was proposed 1]. Up to now, there is no work on automating derivation of the interoperability test suite and analyzing its coverage. In this paper, we implement the algorithm proposed by 1], apply it to the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), and analyze its results. In this process, we (1) improve the algorithm that is not applicable to the TCPs three-way handshaking, (2) implement the improved algorithm as a program and derive an interoperability test suite automatically from a given pair of TCP FSMs, (3) analyze generated interoperability test suite in view of transition coverage, and (4) present a method in order to extend the algorithm for better transition coverage.

  • The purpose of the multiple key agreement protocol is to get efficiency in computational and communicational aspects compared to multiple executions of single key agreement protocol. However ID based tripartite multiple key agreement protocols have been proposed, it is reported that they can not resist unknown key-share attack or impersonation attack. How to design a secure and efficient ID-based authenticated tripartite multiple key agreement scheme to prevent all kinds of attacks remains an open problem. This paper proposes a multiple key agreement scheme combing the existing single key agreement protocol with a key derivation function. The proposed scheme can not only increase computational efficiency compared to the existing multiple key agreement protocol, but can ensure security of the proposed schemes by using a security proofed single key agreement protocol and key derivation function.

  • Software Product Line (SPL) is a software development paradigm that guarantees high productivity, reduced cost, and shorter time-to-market by systematically planning and reusing commonality and variability. In order to maximize the benefits of SPL engineering, testing should be integrated into the SPL engineering lifecycle processes that consist of domain engineering and application engineering and should be performed with as little test efforts as possible. This paper proposes a systematic software product line test cases derivation method using combinatorial test design. By applying combinatorial test design to product line test cases derivation and exploiting commonality between products at the same time, the number of generated test cases is dramatically reduced with the result that they can be effectively reused by the products of the given product line. Case studies conducted in this paper show the efficacy of our method compared with other methods that use only commonality or combinatorial design or neither of them in terms of the number of derived test cases.

  • Finite wordlength effect of the recursive implementation of SDFT(sliding-DFT) is analytically derived in this paper. Representation errors of the twiddle coefficients and the data registers are the two major causes of the spectral errors in the recursive implementation. The noise-to-signal ratio is analytically derived in terms of the coefficients wordlength, the data registers wordlength, and the DFT's block-length used in the computation Error dynamic equation is obtained from the recursive DFT and the probabilistic models for the coefficients error and the round-off error are introduced for the NSR derivation, The result of the NSR derivation is verified with the simulation data.

  • Along with an asynchronous finite state machine, in short AFSM, a signal transition graph, in short STG, is one of the most widely used behavioral description languages for asynchronous controllers. Unfortunately, STGs are not user-friendly, and thus it is very unwieldy and time consuming for system designers to conceive and describe manually the behaviors of a number of asynchronous controllers which constitute an asynchronous control unit for a target system in the form of STGs. In this paper, we suggest an automatic STG derivation method through a process-oriented method. Since the suggested method considers special properties of STG-based asynchronous logic synthesis very carefully, asynchronous controllers which are synthesized from STGs derived through the suggested method are superior in aspects of area, synthesis time, performance and implementability compared to those obtained through previous methods.

  • Objective : The objective of this study was to develop a score to predict patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) who will not benefit from endovascular treatment (EVT) using computed tomographic angiography (CTA) parameters. Methods : The CTA-ABC score was developed from 3 scales previously described in the literature: the Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (0-5 points, 3; 6-10 points, 0), the clot burden score (0-3 points, 1; 4-10 points, 0), and the leptomeningeal Collateral score (0-1 points, 2; 2-3 points, 0). We evaluated the predictive value of CTA parameters associated with symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) or malignant middle cerebral artery infarction (MMCAI) after EVT and developed the score using logistic regression coefficients. The score was then validated. Performance of the score was tested with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC-ROC). Results : The derivation cohort consisted of 115 and the validation cohort consisted of 40 AIS patients. The AUC-ROC was 0.97 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.94-0.99; p<0.001) in the derivation cohort. The proportions of patients with sICH and/or MMCAI in the derivation cohort were 96%, 73%, 6%, and 0% for scores of 6, 5, 1, and 0 points, respectively. In the validation group, the proportions were similar (90%, 100%, 0%, and 0%, respectively) with an AUC-ROC of 0.96 (95% CI, 0.90-1.00; p<0.001). Conclusion : Our CTA-ABC score reliably assessed risk for sICH and/or MMCAI in patients with AIS who underwent EVT. It can support clinical decision-making, especially when the need for EVT is uncertain.

  • A lot of works have been dedicated to clarify the reasons why the establishment of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) from pig is more difficult than that from mouse and human. Several concomitant factors such as culture condition including feeder layer, sensitivity of cell to cell contact, definitive markers of pluripotency for evaluation of the validity and optimal timing of derivation have been suggested as the disturbing factors in the establishment of porcine ESCs Traditionally, attempts to derive stem cells from porcine embryos have depend on protocols established for mouse ESCs using inner cell mass (ICM) for the isolation and culture. And more recently, protocols used for primate ESCs were also applied. However, there is no report for the establishment of porcine ESCs. Indeed, ungulate species including pigs have crucial developmental differences unlike rodents and primates. Here we will review recent studies about issues for establishment of porcine ESCs and discuss the promise and strategies focusing on the timing for derivation and pluripotent state of porcine ESCs.
