  • Although autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been thought to have a substantial genetic background, major contributing genes have yet to be identified or successfully replicated. Immunological dysfunction has been suggested to be associated with ASD, and T cell-mediated immunity was considered important for the development of ASD. In this study, we analyzed 163 ASD subjects and 97 normal controls by genomic quantitative PCR to evaluate the association between the copy number variation of the 7q34 locus, harboring the TCRB gene, and ASDs. As a result, there was no significant difference of the frequency distribution of TCRB copy numbers between ASD cases and normal controls. TCRB gene copy numbers ranged from 0 to 5 copies, and the frequency distribution of each copy number was similar between the two groups. The proportion of the individuals with <2 copies of TCRB was 52.8% (86/163) in ASD cases and 57.1% (52/91) in the control group (p=0.44). The proportion of individuals with >2 copies of TCRB was 11.7% (19/163) in ASD cases and 12.1% (11/91) in the control group (p=0.68). After the effects of sex were adjusted by logistic regression, ORs for individuals with <2 copies or >2 copies showed no significant difference compared with the diploid copy number as reference (n=2). Although we could not see the positive association, our results will be valuable information for mining ASD-associated genes and for exploring the role of T cell immunity further in the pathogenesis of ASD.

  • To monitor vegetation structure of evergreen broad-leaved forest, twenty plots were set up at Wando Arboretum in 1996. Twenty plots were divided into ten experimental plots and control plots. A few evergreen broad-leaved species were planted after selective cutting at ten experimental plots. Dominant species of twenty plots were Quercus acuta, Q. acuta and Carpinus tschonoskii, Pinus densiflora, etc.. Vegetation structure of the experimental plots showed seral stage of succession from P. densiflora community or deciduous broad-leaved forest to Q. acuta community. Dominant species of the experimental plots were changed to Q. acuta or P. densiflora after selective cutting. And a number of species and individuals, coverages etc. were increased at shrub and ground cover layer after treatment.

  • Let G = (V, E) be a (p, q) graph. Define $${\rho}=\{{\frac{2}{p}},\;{\text{{\qquad} if p is even}}\\{\frac{2}{p-1}},\;{{\text{if p is odd}}$$ and L = {±1, ±2, ±3, … , ±ρ} called the set of labels. Consider a mapping f : V ⟶ L by assigning different labels in L to the different elements of V when p is even and different labels in L to p-1 elements of V and repeating a label for the remaining one vertex when p is odd.The labeling as defined above is said to be a pair difference cordial labeling if for each edge uv of G there exists a labeling |f(u) - f(v)| such that ${\mid}{\Delta}_{f_1}-{\Delta}_{f^c_1}{\mid}{\leq}1$, where ${\Delta}_{f_1}$ and ${\Delta}_{f^c_1}$ respectively denote the number of edges labeled with 1 and number of edges not labeled with 1. A graph G for which there exists a pair difference cordial labeling is called a pair difference cordial graph. In this paper we investigate pair difference cordial labeling behaviour of Petersen graphs P(n, k) like P(n, 2), P(n, 3), P(n, 4).

  • This study has analyzed the vegetation structure to suggest a vegetation ecological restoration model by using the case of the afforestation for erosion control area with Pinus koreaiensis and Betula platyphylla, etc., on the hills of the Young-in mountains after its great fire in 2000. Of the area having a dimension of $1,152,404.3m^2$ selected as a survey site for the existing vegetation, the forest fire area accounted for 69.2% among which, brushwoods accounted the most for 24.67%. As a result of analysis of the 27 surveyed unit plots[unit dimension: $100m^2$] set up in consideration of the existing vegetation pattern and damaged state from the forest fire, the surveyed area was classified into 10 communities. Shrub layer's vegetation was found to be dominant in forest fire areas and the surveyed sites were classified into 5 plant communities, i.e. P. koraiensis community, Quercus variabilis community, P. thunbergii community, Q. serrata community, B. platyphylla community in forest fire areas, while non-forest fire areas were classified into 5 plant communities, such as P. densiflora community, Q. acutissima community, Q. serrata community, Q. mongolica-Q. serrata community, B. platyphylla community. Species diversity of forest fire areas was $0.3679{\sim}0.5907$ and that of non-forest fire areas was $0.5728{\sim}0.8865$. In addition, the number of the species in the forest fire areas was $5{\sim}8$ and that of non-forest areas was $8{\sim}12$; however, the population of forest fire areas$(156{\sim}456)$ was higher than that of non-forest fire areas$(61{\sim}227)$. In the analysis of growth density per layer$[of\;100m^2]$, there appeared $1{\sim}8$ trees of Q. mongolica and $3{\sim}5$ trees of Q. serrata in the upper layer species; $2{\sim}4$ trees of Q. serrata and one tree of Q. mongolica in the canopy layer. As for the characteristics of soil, acidity of forest fire areas was pH 5.45 and that of non-forest fire was pH 5.25. By setting up the middle D.B.H range of Q. mongolica-Q. serrata community as the vegetation restoration model, planting species, planting density and planting models are suggested.

  • A remarkably large number of integral formulas involving a variety of special functions have been developed by many authors. Also many integral formulas involving various Bessel functions have been presented. Very recently, Choi and Agarwal derived two generalized integral formulas associated with the Bessel function $J_{\nu}(z)$ of the first kind, which are expressed in terms of the generalized (Wright) hypergeometric functions. In the present sequel to Choi and Agarwal's work, here, in this paper, we establish two new integral formulas involving the generalized Bessel functions, which are also expressed in terms of the generalized (Wright) hypergeometric functions. Some interesting special cases of our two main results are presented. We also point out that the results presented here, being of general character, are easily reducible to yield many diverse new and known integral formulas involving simpler functions.

  • Background Breast augmentation with implants is the most commonly performed cosmetic plastic surgery in Brazil and worldwide. The aim of this study was to assess patient satisfaction and quality of life following subpectoral breast augmentation with either microtextured or macrotextured implants, using the BREAST-Q. Methods A prospective study was conducted with 40 women with hypomastia undergoing subpectoral breast augmentation. The patients were randomly allocated to two groups to receive either microtextured or macrotextured breast implants. All participants were assessed preoperatively (baseline) and after 2 and 4 months of surgery for quality of life and patient satisfaction with the surgical results, using the BREAST-Q augmentation module, a patient-reported outcome measure. Results The patients had a mean age of 28.9 ± 6.45 years. The microtextured (n = 20) and macrotextured (n = 20) groups were homogeneous for sex, age, education level, marital status, and number of children (p > 0.05). Both groups showed significant improvement in satisfaction with breasts (p < 0.001), psychosocial well-being (p < 0.001), and sexual well-being (p < 0.001) at the 2- and 4-month follow-up visits compared with baseline. The observed improvements were associated with high effect size values of 5.09, 3.44, and 3.90, respectively. In contrast, significant decreases from baseline in physical well-being scores (p = 0.001) were found 2 and 4 weeks after surgery in both groups. Conclusion Subpectoral breast augmentation with either microtextured or macrotextured breast implants improved satisfaction with breasts and quality of life in patients with hypomastia.

  • We present the method to infer Context-Free Grammars by applying genetic algorithm to the Binary Third-order Recurrent Neural Networks(BTRNN). BTRNN is a multiple-layered architecture of recurrent neural networks, each of which is corresponding to an input symbol, and is combined with external stack. All parameters of BTRNN are represented as binary numbers and each state transition is performed with any stack operation simultaneously. We apply Genetic Algorithm to BTRNN chromosomes and obtain the optimal BTRNN inferring context-free grammar of positive and negative input patterns. This proposed method infers BTRNN, which includes the number of its states equal to or less than those of existing methods of Discrete Recurrent Neural Networks, with less examples and less learning trials. Also BTRNN is superior to the recent method of chromosomes representing grammars at recognition time complexity because of performing deterministic state transitions and stack operations at parsing process. If the number of non-terminals is p, the number of terminals q, the length of an input string k, and the max number of BTRNN states m, the parallel processing time is O(k) and the sequential processing time is O(km).

  • A total coloring of a graph G is an assignment of colors to the elements of a graphs G such that no adjacent vertices and edges receive the same color. The total chromatic number of a graph G , denoted by χ''(G), is the minimum number of colors that suffice in a total coloring. In this paper, we proved the Behzad and Vizing conjecture for certain convex polytope graphs Dpn, Qpn, Rpn, En, Sn, Gn, Tn, Un, Cn,respectively. This significant result in a graph G contributes to the advancement of graph theory and combinatorics by further confirming the conjecture's applicability to specific classes of graphs. The presented proof of the Behzad and Vizing conjecture for certain convex polytope graphs not only provides theoretical insights into the structural properties of graphs but also has practical implications. Overall, this paper contributes to the advancement of graph theory and combinatorics by confirming the validity of the Behzad and Vizing conjecture in a graph G and establishing its relevance to applied problems in sciences and engineering.

  • We confirmed that the children affected by child abuse, which has recently become an issue in the counseling field, were the highest in the ages of 10-17, and the number of occurrences by parents was the highest. We tried to understand the hardships of parents with adolescent children while conducting counseling and parental education to understand the difficulties of parenting experiences that play an important role in growing children. Therefore, this study attempted to analyze the subjective perception types and characteristics of each type of parenting experience of parents with adolescent children using the Q methodology. After forming a Q population and extracting the 33-question statement of the Q sample, the P sample was classified into the Q sample of 35 parents with adolescent children, and the perception type analysis was conducted with the QUANL program. As a result of our study, it was found that Type 1 was the unconditional love and understanding type, which was recognized as a process of endless understanding of children, Type 2 was the "reflection and change type," which recognizes empathy with children, communication, and parental reflection and change, Type 3 was the "learning and psychological independence assistance type," which recognizes that children should be psychologically independent and grow, and Type 4 was the "regret and identity confusion type," which recognizes regret about raising children in childhood and identity confusion as parents. Our study is meaningful in that it classified the subjective perception structure of parenting experiences perceived by parents with adolescent children by type. It is expected that this subjectivity study on parenting experiences will be used as basic data for parental education and parental counseling to raise adolescent children.
