  • As information and communications technology-based "smart hospitals" and "digital healthcare" have become a hot topic in the healthcare field, hospital mobile apps are gaining attention; but, the utilization rate is low due to lack of publicity, unstable systems, and late updates. In this situation, systematic research is needed to increase the utilization rate of hospital mobile apps, but related research has been rare. Therefore, this study integrates the information systems success model (ISSM) from the technical perspective and the expectation-confirmation model (ECM) from the cognitive perspective to demonstrate the influence mechanism on the continuous use intention of hospital mobile apps. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted among 181 Korean adults who have used hospital mobile apps. The results of the structual equation modeling showed that most of the quality factors have significant effects on expectation confirmation, perceived usefulness, and satisfaction. Additionally, expectation confirmation significantly affects perceived usefulness and satisfaction, and both perceived usefulness and satisfaction significantly affect the continuous use intention of hospital mobile apps. This study is of importance in that it integrates the ISSM and ECM and applies them to the context of using hospital mobile apps, which are underutilized in the healthcare field, and provides practical implications for increasing the utilization rate of hospital mobile apps and operating effective and efficient services through the findings.

  • Mobility services are rapidly developing along with information and communication technology (ICT) innovation. Recently, the on-demand mobility platform market is growing, and an environment is provided in which users can call services more conveniently and check the connection status in real time using smartphones. This study investigates the current status of users' perceptions and experiences of car-hailing mobility services such as KAKAO Taxi and UT Taxi, and it analyzes the factors affecting the intention to continuously use the car-hailing service, focusing on environmental and instrumental benefits and trust in driver and platform. In particular, this study examines whether the significance of the relationship between influencing factors and continuous use intention could vary depending on the degree of innovativeness and ICT utilization. The results of this study showed that perceived benefits (environmental benefits and convenience and economic instrumental benefits) and trust in driver had significant effects on increasing trust in platform. It was analyzed that the higher the trust in platform, the higher the intention to continuously use the car-hailing service. Furthermore, the influence of perceived environmental benefits and economic benefits on the trust in platform was different depending on the degree of individual innovativeness, and the influence of convenience and economic benefits on the trust in platform varied depending on the degree of ICT utilization. Referring to the results of this study, mobility service providers can better understand the current status of users' perceptions and trust for car-hailing services, and implement service promotion strategies suitable for individual characteristics.

  • Recently, utilization of mobile Internet services is rapidly increasing. To properly accelerate the vitalization of mobile Internet usage, we have to know exactly about the factors affecting potential users' value recognition and intention to use. Technology acceptance model (TAM) is one of the most powerful reference framework for the individual user's adoption of IT innovations. This research borrowed core concept of TAM, and tried to explain users' intention to use mobile Internet by understanding the direct and indirect effects of subjective norm and perceived usefulness. To increase the explanatory power of the model, this paper introduced personal innovativeness as a key moderator variable. The research findings include; i) subjective norm has strong positive influence on perceived usefulness and intention to use, ii) perceived usefulness has positive influence on intention to use, iii) the influence of subject norm is greater than that of perceived usefulness, iv) positive influence of subjective norm on the perceived usefulness and intention to use are significantly stronger in the case of low personal innovativeness sub-group than the case of high personal innovativeness sub-group, and v) high personal innovativeness sub-group have shown strongly positive influence of perceived usefulness on the intention to use while there is no such significant relationship in the case of low personal innovativeness sub-group. Based on these findings, this paper proposed several guidelines to increase the adoption and the usage of mobile Internet; i) word-of-mouth is extremely important, ii) to form a good word-of-mouth, it will be very important to make early adopters and heavy users have positive direct experiences of using mobile Internet.

  • There is a need for research to identify the integrated, rather than fragmented, factors that determine users' acceptance of Internet shopping. Using the newly revised technology acceptance model (TAM) as a theoretical framework, this study investigates the effect of a set of information systems quality (information quality and system quality) and trust on intention to use Internet showing through perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Using structural equation modeling, the results strongly support the utilization of TAM in predicting users' intention to use Internet shopping, and demonstrates the effects of critical external variables on behavior intention through perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Systems quality such as response time, accessibility, and usability has significant effects on perceived ease of use of Internet shopping. Futhermore, trust has also a significant effect on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, intention to use Internet shopping, and actual usage of Internet shopping. Based on these results, this study suggests managerial implications of new Internet shopping strategies, focusing on the integration of information systems quality and trust in order to achieve sustainable competitive advantage in Internet shopping.

  • This paper investigates the factors to affect the consumer selection of machine-to-machine (M2M) technology in the purchase and utilization of home appliances. M2M technology, based on mobile internet, allows for automatic operation and remote control of home appliances and equipment. The introduction of M2M technology could lead to the saving of domestic housework and of active social participation for women. With a view to focusing on the liberating potential of M2M technology, this paper analyzes the correlation between four independent variables (gender, income, employment status of married woman, and possession of mobile internet devices) and two dependent variables (intention for purchase and utilization of M2M household appliances). The possession of mobile internet devices such as smart phone and tablet PC turns out to be the most significant factor to affect both the purchase and utilization of M2M household appliances. The employment status (employed or not-employed) affects only the intention for purchase. Neither the income level nor gender has significant correlation with the intention for purchase or utilization. The results differ from the conventional wisdom that the consumer selection of household technology is substantially affected by gender, income and employment of housewife.

  • Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the attitude of healthcare consumers toward the East-West Collaborative Medical Practices(hereafter EWCMP). Method : The participants were 245 healthcare consumers who visited outpatient clinic of an university hospital, and attended at an emergency rescue educational program held by an emergency medical center, Busan. Data were collected by interviewing or self-reporting with questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics and $X^2$ test with SPSS win 14.0. Results : 53.1 percent of 245 participants has heard, 13.9 percent has ever used, and 82.4 percent wanted to use EWCMP in the future. For participants who has used EWCMP, the decision to use it was made by themselves(58.8%), 26.5% of them was satisfied with EWCMP, and 79.4% showed the intention to introduce EWCMP to others. The use of EWCMP was significantly different by gender($X^2$=4.702, p=0.030) and having job or not($X^2$=14.305, p<0.001). Preferred type of EWCMP was to use both medical and Korean medical treatment at the same time(42.4%). Musculoskeletal disease(51.0%) and circulatory disease(51.0%) were expected to be the most effective when the EWCMP applied to them. Utilization of EWCMP was expected to be effective in disease treatment(88.2%), diagnosis(83.3%), and prevention(75.1%), and to increase medical cost(66.1%). Intention to use of EWCMP was not significantly different by demographic characteristics. Conclusion : Considering low proportion of utilization of and positive attitude toward the EWCMP among general populations, it is needed to introduce or advertise EWCMP to them.

  • The study examines the question of what discriminant factors may affect differences between two groups classified by researchers' satisfaction with and continuous use intention of genetic resources(microorganisms). Survey data from researchers who are using microorganisms from a gene bank was used to empirically test. The survey, covering 150 researchers, was conducted from March 26 through April 17 2015. Linear discriminant analysis was used to test the research questions described in the study. Results from the tests show that utilization value and suitability of genetic resources for researchers' R&D activities play key roles in discriminating between the two groups classified by researchers' satisfaction with and continuous use intention of genetic resources, relatively lower and higher groups. The results indicate that useful trait information of and degree in promotion of researches by genetic resources appear to be weak in discriminating between the two groups, and that novelty of genetic resources does not play a crucial role in making a distinction between the two groups. We propose some policy implications based on the results of the study.

  • Purpose: This study empirically examines the effect of Communication Privacy Management(CPM) factors and Privacy Calculus factors to the intention to disclose Personal Health Information(PHI) in the context of healthcare ecosystem. Also, it investigates the moderating effects of CPM factors in the relationship between privacy calculus variables and the intention to disclose PHI. Methods: We conducted scenario-based repeated-measures quasiexperiment and used total 364 samples for analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis and repeated-measure ANOVA were employed using SPSS 24.0. Results: All CPM factors, such as type of information, requesting purpose, and requesting stakeholder, directly influence to the intention to disclose PHI, whereas only the medium trust out of the Privacy Calculus factors has direct influence on the intention to disclose PHI. With regard to the moderating effects, the requesting stakeholder is the most influential and the information type is the least influential construct. Conclusion: The findings suggest that healthcare system should be designed to provide more definite and personalized benefits to customers to enhance social and individual benefits by getting more participation from customers. Also, it is desirable that the requesting stakeholder of PHI would be non-profit organizations such as hospital, government or public agencies to secure more willingness of PHI from people. Furthermore, it is implied that extensive information gathering and utilization, instead of excluding sensitive information or critical patients' records, is recommended which is substantial to invigorate the healthcare industry.
