The proposed method is simple, sensitive and specific Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LCESI-MS/MS) method for the quantification of Entacapone (EA) in human plasma using Entacapone-d10 (EAD10) as an internal standard (IS). Chromatographic separation was performed on Zorbax SB-C18, $2.1{\times}50\;mm$, $5\;{\mu}m$ column, mobile phase composed of 10 mM Ammonium formate (pH 3.0): Acetonitrile (60:40 v/v), with a flow-rate of 0.7 mL/min, followed by Liquid-liquid extraction. EA and EAD10 were detected with proton adducts at m/z $306.1{\rightarrow}233.1$ and $316.3{\rightarrow}233.0$ in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) positive mode respectively. The method was validated over a linear concentration range of 1.00 - 2000.00 ng/mL with correlation coefficient ($r^2$) $\geq$ 0.9993. Intra and inter-day Precision within 3.60 to 7.30 and 4.20 to 5.50% and Accuracy within 97.30 to 104.20 and 98.30 to 105.80% proved for EA. This method is successfully applied in the bioequivalence study of healthy Indian human volunteers.

The ethanolic extract of chestnut (Castanea crenata S. et Z., Fagaceae) inner shell (CISE) and one of its components, ellagic acid (EA), were evaluated for their protective effects against 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazine (DPPH) free radical generation and hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative DNA damage in a mammalian cell line. CISE and EA were shown to possess the free radical scavenging effect against DPPH radical generation, significantly. They were also found to strongly inhibit hydrogen peroxide-induced DNA damage from Chinese hamster lung (CHL) cell, assessed by single cell gel electrophoresis assay and 8-hydroxy -2'-deoxy guanosine (8-OH-2'dG) assay. Furthermore, topical application of CISE [$12.5\%$(w/w) cream] and ellagic acid [$1.0\%$(w/w) cream] for 14 days potently inhibited malondialdehyde (MDA) formation of mouse dorsal skin (a marker of lipid peroxidation) induced by ultraviolet B exposure. Therefore, CISE and its component, ellagic acid, may be the useful natural antioxidants by scavenging free radicals, inhibition of lipid peroxidation and protecting oxidative DNA damage when topically applied.
Objective : Zusanli(ST36) and Hoku(Li4) are analgesic acupuncture points frequently used for acupuncture in Oriental medicine. The present study was conducted to see the antinociceptive effects produced by electroacupuncture combined two frequencies(Low, High) and two different acupuncture points(LI4, ST36) in the rat tail flick test. Method : In this study the Rats (Sprague-Dawley, 250-300g) were partially anesthetized with thiopental sodium(40mg/kg, i.p.). The basal reaction time for the tail-flick was 3${\pm}$0.5 sec. Low frequency(3Hz, 5V, biphasic) and high frequency(100Hz, 5V, biphasic) were applied to the inserted needle for the period of insertion(twenty minutes). Experimental groups are divied as follow; a) electroacupuncture stimulation groups at Hoku with or high frequency(L-EA, H-EA), b) electroacupuncture stimulation groups at Zusanli with low or high frequency(1-EA, h-EA), c) low frequency at Hoku and Zusanli(LIEA), d) low frequency at Hoku and high frequency at Zusanli(LhEA), e) high frequency at Hoku and low frequency at Zusanli(HIEA), f) high frequency at Hoku and Zusanli(HhEA) Results : The individual stimulation at either Hoku or Zusanli with low frequency has stronger and longer analgesic effect than high frequency stimulation. In addition, the combined stimulation at Hoku and Zusanli with low frequency has superior effect to individual stimulation with low frequency. LhEA and LIEA have superior effect to other stimulation groups among the combined groups. In order to determine the involvement of opioid system on the different antinociceptive effects, Naloxone, an opioid antagonist, was used in the combined groups. LIEA is the most sensitive when naloxone was administrated among study groups. HhEA is the least sensitive in the administration of naloxone. Conclusion : From results, this study confirmed that the opioid system is involved in analgesic effect of low frequency stimulation of acupuncture point, and we also can suggest the stronger analgesic effect of combining stimulation points is due to the theory of spatial summation in the nervous system.
The $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}Cr_{1-x}Ni_{x}O_{3}$(LSCN-x) perovskites were prepared by citric acid and EDTA using a sol-gel method. The LSCN-x was characterized by BET, XRD, SEM, $H_2$-TPR, EA and TEM. The catalytic performance of LSCN-x catalysts in steam reforming of propane in the temperature range 600~$800^{\circ}C$ was investigated. Propane conversion and hydrogen yield increased with an increase in the amount of added Ni up to x=0.5 in the B-site, denoted as LSCN-0.5, under S/C=1 and S/C=1.7 reaction conditions. The LSCN-0.5 catalyst exhibited the best performance under Ni-substitution of which propane conversion and hydrogen yield was 100%, 95.9% at $800^{\circ}C$ in the S/C=1.7 condition, respectively. The morphology of carbon deposited on the catalysts after reaction exhibited filamentous carbon and amount of carbon deposited on the catalysts after reaction increased with an increase in the amount of added Ni.

This study was performed to evaluate the effects of the combination of electroacupuncture (EA) and surgical decompression on paraplegia due to spinal compression in dogs. Ten clinically healthy dogs were assigned into two groups (group A and group B). The one is for the combination of EA and surgical decompression, and the other is for surgical decompression alone. After decompression, neurological function was evaluated daily with modified Tarlov grading system. SEPs were measured as objective evaluation of normal spinal cord function before spinal compression and after neurological recovery. The period of rehabilitation in group A was significantly shorter than that in group B (p<0.05). Conduction velocity of SEPs showed a tendency to return to normal when the dogs got full recovery. According to these results, it was considered that the EA with surgical decompression was more effective than surgical decompression alone for paraplegia resulting from spinal cord injury in dog.

To develope the methods for isolation and enumeration of lymphocyte subpopulations in pigs, we carried out the rosette-assay using sheep erythrocytes(SRBC) and Korean native goat erythrocytes(GRBC) as a target cells. To enumerate T lymphocytes, E-rosette methods were applied with RBC treated with various concentration of polymers such as Aet and Dex, singly or in combination. And to enumerate B lymphocytes, EAand EAC-rosette assay was adopted. The results were as follows; 1. E-RFR with polymer-untreated SRBC and GRBC was $32.9{\pm}7.9%$ and $31.3{\pm}9.4%$, respectively. On the other hand, RFR with 0.1M Aet plus 8% Dex treated SRBC and GRBC was increased about two-fold($67.8{\pm}7.4%$ and $69.8{\pm}8.5%$), respectively. 2. EA-RFR with SRBC and GRBC were $ 39.1{\pm}10.2%$ and $32.6{\pm}6.1%$, respectively. 3. EAC-RFR with SRBC and GRBC were $27.6{\pm}7.0%$ arld $21.0{\pm}3.2%$, respectively. These results showed that both SRBC and GRBC could be recommanded as a binding cells for rosetteassay to isolate of lymphocyte-subpopulations in pigs.

Surface cleaning is both essential and troublesome when a consumer seeks to eliminate soil attached to the surface of fresh ginseng because all ginseng purchased in the market is covered with soil, reflecting the post-harvest situation. To facilitate ginseng use at home, a fresh-cut type of ginseng is required. As a first step toward production of such ginseng, several washing and dipping treatments were investigated with respect to surface cleaning and reduction of microbial populations on fresh ginseng. In terms of microbial distribution on the surface of fresh ginseng, higher levels of viable bacteria (6.63 log CFU/each) and fungi (5.12 log CFU/each) were present on the rhizome head than on other regions of the root. Of the washing treatments tested, hand-brushing was effective for surface cleaning and to reduce microorganism levels on fresh ginseng, but use of a high-pressure water spray followed by hand-brushing was optimally effective. To further reduce the levelsof microorganisms on the surface of fresh ginseng after washing, additional dipping treatments in 70% (v/v) ethanol and electrolyzed acidic water (at pH 2.3) were somewhat effective but showed no significant differences compared with other dipping treatments tested, including a 3 ppm ozone solution, a 200 ppm sodium hypochlorite solution, or hot water at $50^{\circ}C$.
A new Saxifraga fortunei cultivar 'Whitegreen' was bred by crossing between 'Daewoojoo' with Pale Green (Y-G145-C) colored petals and 'Kwanglim' with light Yellow green (Y-G145A) colored petals. The selection and flower characterization were conducted from 2004 to 2008 in greenhouse of Highland Agriculture Research Center, NICS, RDA. Flowering in 'Whitegreen' Showed from September 20 th for 33 days. The number of petals were 11.4 ea., with a width of 1.4 cm and length of 1.4 cm. The plant height was 20.7 cm, and number of leaves per plant was 48.3 ea., with a width of 3.4 cm and length of 3.0 cm. 'Whitegreen' cultivar can be used as a pot flower. 'Whitegreen' plants grown under 50% shade of sunlight have higher degree of acclimation compared to those under direct sunlight. And soft rot disease would occur usually by over-irrigation. 'Whitegreen' cultivar was registered as a novel variety with No. 3456 in Korea seed and variety service on April 2011.
This study was investigated to evaluate worker exposures to organic solvents by type of print industry. Results were as follows; 1. Workers were exposed to mixture of toluene, isopropyl alcohol(IPA), methyl ethyl ketone(MEK), n-hexane, ethylacetate(EA), acetone. The components of high exposure solvents were toluene, IPA and MEK. 2. Considering additive effects of the compounds, exposure indices(Em) were calculated. The Mean of exposure indices were 1.79 for Gravere, 0.41 for Screen and 0.14 for Opset workplace. The workers of Gravere workplace were estimated to overexpose for solvents. 3. The highest overexposed solvent was toluene for a single component. The rate of overexposed level for toluene was 7.41% for some print workplace and for mixed solvent was 1.85%. 4. Local exhaust systems were inappropriate and respiratory protective devices were not supplied to the workers. 5. Sound level was over 90dB(A) in Opset print workplace and some measures should be performed to get down the sound level.
The purpose of this study is to improve the method of color developing with alkali solution as a promotor of color developing for feasible use. Cotton fabric was dyed with persimmon extract ranged with 0~3% alkali component with 5 types of strong to mild alkali solution. Heat treatment for color developing was applied to fabric dyed with persimmon extract and alkali mixing solution. Tests were carried out to analyze the change of surface color, ${\Delta},Ea^*b^*$, and water repellent of the dyed cotton fabric. The alkali mixing sample showed higher ${\Delta},Ea^*b^*$ value than control one without alkali mixing on the base of dyed fabric due to high color developing by alkali in the initial step of dyeing process. As alkali concentration increased, deeper dark color appeared on the fabric. The fabric color was changed to more dark in the application of sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate in the initial step of dyeing process but color was not changed by increased heating time. However, the fabric showed a slight dark color with sodium acetate and more color change than that of the fabric dyed with persimmon extract without alkali. Therefore, sodium acetate seemed to a suitable promotor for color developing in persimmon extract dyeing. Property of water repellent was showed after color developing by heating with low concentration of alkali treatment.
