Diffusion-weighted and Dynamic Contrast-enhanced MRI of Metastatic Bone Tumors: Correlation of the Apparent Diffusion Coefficient, $K^{trans}$ and $v_e$ values (골전이암의 확산강조영상과 역동적 조영증강 자기공명영상: 겉보기 확산계수, $K^{trans}$$v_e$ 값들의 상관관계)

  • Purpose : To investigate whether quantitative parameters derived from Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) correlate with those of Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI). Materials and Methods: Thirteen patients with pathologically or clinically proven bony metastasis who had undergone MRI prior to treatment were included. The voxel size was $1.367{\times}1.367{\times}5mm$. A dominant tumor was selected and the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value and DCE-MRI parameters were obtained by matching voxels. DCE-MRI data were analyzed yielding estimates of $K^{trans}$ (volume transfer constant) and $v_e$. (extravascular extracellular volume fraction). Statistical analysis of ADC, $K^{trans}$, and $v_e$ value was conducted using Pearson correlation analyses. Results: Fifteen lesions in pelvic bones were evaluated. Of these, 11 showed a statistically significant correlation (P<0.05) between ADC and $K^{trans}$. The ADC and $K^{trans}$ were inversely related in 7 lesions and positively related in 4 lesions. This did not depend on the primary cancer or site of metastasis. The ADC and $v_e$ of 9 lesions correlated significantly. Of these, 4 lesions were inversely related and 5 lesions were positively related. Conclusion: Unlike our theoretic hypothesis, there was no consistent correlation between ADC values and $K^{trans}$ or between ADC values and $v_e$ in metastatic bone tumors.

  • By investigating photoluminescence (PL) spectra (20 K) of undoped and Be-doped p-type GaSb/GaAs epilayers, the origin has been analyzed by the change due to doping density. We have observed that the PL peak shifts to higher energy and the full-width half-maximum (FWHM) decreases with increasing the doping density below ${\sim}10^{17}cm^{-3}$, contrasted to shift to low energy and increasing FWHM above the density of ${\sim}10^{17}cm^{-3}$. From the variation of the integrated PL intensities of three peaks dissolved by Gaussian fit, it has been analyzed that, as the density increases, the $Be[Be_{Ga}]$ acceptor level (0.794 eV) reduces, whereas the intrinsic defect of $A[Ga_{Sb}]$ (0.778 eV) enhances together with a new $Be^*$ level (0.787 eV) locating between A and Be. We have discussed that it is due to coexistence of the Be acceptor level (${\Delta}E=16meV$) and the complex level (${\Delta}E=23meV$), $Be^*[Ga_{Sb}-Be_{Ga}]$combined by Be and A, in Be-doped p-GaSb, and that the level density of $Be[Be_{Ga}]$ may be reduced above ${\sim}10^{17}cm^{-3}$.

A Study on Electroreflectance in Si-Doped $Al_{0.33}Ga_{0.67}As$ (Si이 첨가된 $Al_{0.33}Ga_{0.67}As$에서의 Electroreflectance에 관한 연구)

  • The silicon doped $Al_{0.33}$G $a_{0.67}$As were grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The electroreflectance(ER) spectra of Schottky barrier Au/n-Al/suu x/G $a_{1-x}$ As have been measured at various modulation voltage( $V_{ac}$ ) and dc bias voltage( $V_{bias}$). From the observed Franz-Keldysh oscillations(FKO) peak, the band gap energy of the $Al_{x}$G $a_{1-x}$ As is 1.91 eV which corresponds to an Al composition of 33%. The internal electric field( $E_{i}$)of this sample is 2.96$\times$10$^{5}$ V/cm. As the modulation voltage( $V_{ac}$ ) is changed, the line shape of ER signal does not change but its amplitude varies linearly. The amplitude as a function of modulation voltage has saturated at 0.8 V. The internal electric field has decreased from 6.47$\times$10$^{5}$ V/cm to 2.00$\times$10$^{5}$ V/cm as the dc bias voltage( $V_{bias}$) increases from -3.5 V to +0.8 V. The values of built-in voltage( $V_{bi}$ ) and carrier concentration(N) determined from the plot of $V_{bias}$ from the plot of $V_{bias}$ versus $E_{i}$$^{2}$ are 0.855 V and 3.83$\times$10$^{17}$ c $m^{-3}$ , respectively.ively.y.y.y.

Effect of Peak Temperatures on Hydrogen Attack Susceptibility in Simulated Weld Heat Affected Zone of 3Cr-1Mo-V Steel (3Cr-1Mo-V강의 재현 열영향부에서 최고가열온도가 수소침식감수성에 미치는 영향)

  • The hydrogen attack characteristics of 3Cr-1Mo-V steel as simulated weld heat affected state were studied in this paper. The hydrogen attack susceptibility was evaluated by the ratios of Charpy impact absorbed energy at 0℃($vE_{0HA}$/$vE_{0}$) and reduction of area by tensile test ($RA_{HA}$/RA) before and after exposure to hydrogen at 600℃ under 450kgf/㎠ for 300hr. The values of $vE_{0HA}$/$vE_{0}$ and $RA_{HA}$/RA were aggravated as the peak temperature of the simulated heat affected zone(HAZ) raised. These results were due to the increase of the possession of bubbles along the grain boundaries, which were resulted in the reduction of grain boundary area to be precipitated carbides due to grain coarsening and the carbon dissolved in the martensite-austenite constituent near by the prior austenite grain boundary. The possession ratio of methane bubbles formed along prior austenite grain boundaries were increased with raising the peak temperature. (Received February 22, 2000)

  • An/n-GaAs(100) Schottky barrier diode has been investigated by using electoreflectance(ER). From the observed Franz-Keldysh oscillatins(FKO), the internal electric field(Ei) of the sample is $5.76\times 10^{4}$V/cm at 300 K. As the modulation voltage($V_{ac}$) IS changed, the line shape of ER signal does not change but its amplitude various linerly. For increasing forward and reverse dc bias boltage($V_{bias}$), the amplitude of ER signal decreases. The internal electric field decreased from $19.3\times 10^4\sim4.39\times10^4$V/cm as $V_{bias}$ INCREASES FROM -5.0 V TO 0.6 V. For Au/n-GaAs the valve of built-in voltage($V_{bi}$) determined from the plot of $V_{bias}$ versus $E_i^2$ is 0.70 V. This value agrees with that observed in the plot of $V_{bias}$ versus amplitude of FKO peak. In addition, the carrier concentraion(N) and potential barrier($\Phi$) of the sample at 300 K are found to be about $2.4\times 10^{16}\textrm{cm}^{-3}$ and 0.78 eV, respectively.

Energy Loss of Hydrogen Atom due to Charge Exchange in Neutral Particle Energy Analyzer (중성입자 에너지 분석장치에서 전하교환용 탄소박막에 의한 수소원자의 에너지 손실특성)

  • A neutral particle energy analyzer, which has the carbon stripping foil and the $90^{\circ}$ cylindrical electrostatic deflection plate, was designed and constructed for measuring of ion temperature in plasma. The energy calibration and energy resolution were studied in detail for a hydrogen ion at the $0.5{\sim}3.0\;keV$ energy using a duoplasmatron ion source. An energy of hydrogen ion to the deflection plate voltage at the peak ion count rate could be fitted by the expression $E_{o}(keV)$=3.83V(kV). The measured energy resolution, which was about 2 % at the energy of 3.0 keV and 9 % at the energy of 0.5keV, was better for the increased hydrogen ion energy. For the charge exchanged hydrogen atom due to the carbon stripping foil, the energy calibration, energy loss and resolution were measured to the $0.5{\sim}2.0{\mu}g/cm^{2}$ thickness of the carbon stripping foil. An energy of the charge exchanged hydrogen atom as a function of the deflection plate voltage and carbon foil thickness could be fitted by the expression $E_{o}(keV)=(0.53d+4.4){\cdot}V(kV)$. The energy loss was $0.23{\sim}0.89\;keV $ to the $0.5{\sim}2.0{\mu}g/cm^{2}$ carbon foil thickness and the $0.5{\sim}3.0\;keV$ energy of the incident neutral hydrogen atom, it could be fitted by the expression ${\Delta}E=(0.12d+0.27){\cdot}{E_{o}}^{1/2}(keV)$. The measured energy resolution for the neutral hydrogen atom, which was between 7 % and 35 % in this experiment region, was increased for the increasing neutral hydrogen atom energy and the decreasing carbon stripping foil thickness.

  • $TiO_2-V_2O_5$ sol was fabricated using sol-gel method and $TiO_2-V_2O_5$ thin films were fabricated using dip-coating method. $V_2O_5$ sol was added 0.01mo1e, 0.03mo1e, 0.05mo1e into $TiO_2$ sol. Viscosity of sol increased fast from about 1,000 minutes and sol began gelation from about 10,000 minutes. As a results of crystalline properties, $V_2O_5$ peaks were not found despite of $V_2O_5$ addition. Endothermic reaction occurred due to evaporation of solvent and dissociation of OH at $80^{\circ}C$. Exothermic reaction occurred due to combustion and oxidation of solvent at $230^{\circ}C$, occurred to combustion and oxidation of alkyl group at $350^{\circ}C$. Thickness of thin films increased $0.1{\sim}0.25{\mu}m$ every a dipping.
