Activated carbon fibers (ACFs) were surface-modified by electron beam (E-beam) irradiation and used as a gas sensor electrode to investigate the effect of E-beam on nitric oxide (NO) gas sensing performance. XPS results showed that the oxygen component of ACFs surface treated by E-beam decreased and $sp^2$ bonded carbon of ACFs surface increased. These results were attributed to the structural transformation of ACFs surface irradiated by E-beam. NO gas sensitivity of the electrode composed of ACFs irradiated by100 kGy increased from about 4% to 8%, and the response time was also meaningfully enhanced from 360 s to 120 s. This is due to the fact that the $sp^2$ carbon bond increased by E-beam irradiation of activated carbon fibers, which significantly affects the resistance change of the electrode in NO gas sensing.
We report on the NO gas sensing properties of non-directional ZnO nanofibers synthesized using a typical electrospinning technique. These non-directional ZnO nanofibers were electrospun on an $SiO_2$/Si substrate from a solution containing poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) and zinc nitrate hexahydrate dissolved in distilled water. Calcination processing of the ZnO/PVA composite nanofibers resulted in a random network of polycrystalline ZnO nanofibers of 50 nm to 100 nm in diameter. The diameter of the nanofibers was found to depend primarily on the solution viscosity; a proper viscosity was maintained by adding PVA to fabricate uniform ZnO nanofibers. Microstructural measurements using scanning electron microscopy revealed that our synthesized ZnO nanofibers after calcination had coarser surface morphology than those before calcination, indicating that the calcination processing was sufficient to remove organic contents. From the gas sensing response measurements for various NO gas concentrations in dry air at several working temperatures, it was found that gas sensors based on electrospun ZnO nanofibers showed quite good responses, exhibiting a maximum sensitivity to NO gas in dry air at an operating temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. In particular, the non-directional electrospun ZnO nanofiber gas sensors were found to have a good NO gas detection limit of sub-ppm levels in dry air. These results illustrate that non-directional electrospun ZnO nanofibers are promising for use in low-cost, high-performance practical NO gas sensors.
We examined degradation characteristics of lead based pigments(white lead, Red lead, Litharge) according to atmospheric environmet condition, for example atmospheric gas(CO2, NO2) and soluble salt. Painted samples not changed material compositions but were occured the color change(𝚫E 4~31) after exposed UV irradiation. All sample were not affected by CO2 gas not only color but chemical composition. However, samples were remakably changed color exposed NO2 gas and it was formed secondary product like as lead nitrate. Such as red lead and white lead samples' color difference were 𝚫E 2 and 𝚫 10 respectively and became dark, along with litharge became bright and color difference was 𝚫E 5 after react with NO2 gas. It confirm that NO2 was influential factor than CO2 in the case of same concentration. Furthermore salt spray test was taken to figure out soluble salt influence in fine dust. The result showed noticeable color change and secondary product was formed on samples' surface. The glue film peeled off or hole, and color changed around the secondary products. After salt spray, XRD pattern showed decrease peak intensity and lower crystalinity. As a result of salt spray test, white lead was formed new product litharge and litharge was formed litharge and minium. According to the results, influential atmospheric factors for conservation of paint pigments were UV, NO2, soluble salt, and litharge was most weakness throughout lead base pigments.
Nanoporous non-woven carbon fibers for a gas sensor were prepared from a pitch/polyacrylonitrile (PAN) mixed solution through an electrospinning process and their gas-sensing properties were investigated. In order to create nanoscale pores, magnesium oxide (MgO) powders were added as a pore-forming agent during the mixing of these carbon precursors. The prepared nanoporous carbon fibers derived from the MgO pore-forming agent were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), $N_2$-adsorption isotherms, and a gas-sensing analysis. The SEM images showed that the MgO powders affected the viscosity of the pitch/PAN solution, which led to the production of beaded fibers. The specific surface area of carbon fibers increased from 2.0 to $763.2m^2/g$ when using this method. The template method therefore improved the porous structure, which allows for more efficient gas adsorption. The sensing ability and the response time for the NO gas adsorption were improved by the increased surface area and micropore fraction. In conclusion, the carbon fibers with high micropore fractions created through the use of MgO as a pore-forming agent exhibited improved NO gas sensitivity.

Korean Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) has studied on gas hydrate in the Ulleung Basin, East sea of Korea since 1997. Most of all, a evidence for existence of gas hydrate, possible new energy resources, in seismic reflection data is bottom simulating reflection (BSR) which parallel to the sea bottom. Here we conducted the conventional data processing for gas hydrate data and Kirchhoff prestack depth migration. Kirchhoff migration is widely used for pre- and post-stack migration might be helpful to better image as well as to get the geological information. The processed stack image by GEOBIT showed some geological structures such as faults and shallow gas hydrate seeping area indicated by strong BSR. The BSR in the stack image showed at TWT 3.07s between shot gather No 3940 to No 4120. The estimated gas seeping area occurred at the shot point No 4187 to No 4203 and it seems to have some minor faults at shot point No 3735, 3791, 3947 and 4120. According to the result of depth migration, the BSR showed as 2.3km below the sea bottom.
Under the Irradiation of the radiofrequency wave, the dipole materials vibrate as microwavic phase change. This causes friction between adjacent molecules and enables an unique charateristics of interior heating of the materials. When dipole gases are adsorbed inside of a solid radiofrequency wave absorber, the gases can be decomposed easily by the microwave energy. The decomposition of sour gases was successfully tested in this manner to develop a sour gas removal process from the combustion flue gas. The standard gas bearing NO and $SO_2$ was passed through and microwave was applied on the calcined char bed as the wave absorber and the gas adsorbent. It was found that more then 95% of NO and 70 % of $SO_2$ was decomposed to the environmentally clean elements during the passage through the 20 gram char bed under the microwave impingement. The surface area and the porosity of char increased because the oxygen radicals produced from decomposed gas attacked carbon in the char capillaries and formed $CO_2$. For a lower concentration of sour gas, general cases in the commercial combustion processes, almost complete decomposion is believed possible and this method is surely expected to be useful for the prevention of air pollutions.
With the increasing concern of global warming caused by greenhouse gases owing to the recent industrial development, there is a growing need for advanced technology to control these emissions. Among the various greenhouse gases, nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is a major contributor to global warming and is mainly released from sources, such as automobile exhaust and factories. Although semiconductor-type NO2 gas sensors, such as SnO2, have been extensively studied, they often require high operating temperatures and complicated manufacturing processes, while lacking selectivity, resulting in inaccurate measurements of NO2 gas levels. To address these limitations, a novel sensor using PbS quantum dots (QDs) was developed, which operates at low temperatures and exhibits high selectivity toward NO2 gas owing to its strong oxidation reaction. Furthermore, the use of P3HT conductive polymer improved the thin film quality, reactivity, and reaction rate of the sensor. The sensor demonstrated the ability to accurately measure NO2 gas concentrations ranging from 500 to 100 ppm, with a 5.1 times higher sensitivity, 1.5 times higher response rate, and 1.15 times higher recovery rate compared with sensors without P3HT.

The reduction characteristics of $NO_2$ to NO are experimentally studied over a platinum-based catalyst, especially at lower temperatures below about $200^{\circ}C$. In the present work, two types of steady-state experiments, engine bench and synthetic gas bench tests, are carried out in sequence. Steady-state engine bench tests with the DOC mounted on a light duty 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine are performed and prove that CO plays a major role in $NO_2$ abatement at temperatures below the light-off temperature of CO oxidation, about $200^{\circ}C$. Synthetic gas bench tests are then performed using synthetic gas mixtures with CO, $C_3H_6$, NO, $NO_2$, $O_2$, $H_2O$ and $N_2$ in the $140{\sim}450^{\circ}C$ T-range and show that both CO and $C_3H_6$ are capable of reducing $NO_2$. It is noted that the reaction rate of $NO_2$ with $C_3H_6$ is much higher than that with CO. At temperatures below about $200^{\circ}C$, the reduction of $NO_2$ to NO is promoted with increasing CO concentration and $NO_2$/$NO_X$ ratio and with decreasing $O_2$ concentration, as well as with the presence of $H_2O$.

In recent years, researchers have put a considerable effort to decrease the emission of harmful gaseous pollutants to the atmosphere. In order to remove simultaneously $SO_2$ and $NO_X$ from the flue gas of small and medium-sized ship, we designed minimal wet scrubber inside a compact multistage modular system. In this study we proceed experiment of elemental technology at each stage of the scrubber. The each stage is oxidation of NO which is the main component of $NO_X$, and removal of $SO_2$, respectively. $NaClO_2$ was used to oxidize NO gas, and NaOH was used to remove $SO_2$ gas. The maximum NO conversion efficiency and the $SO_2$ removal efficiency are both indicate 100%.
